We did our good deed last week. UPDATE!

Well done Will! I had a similar experience a number of years ago when I worked on Bay street, right in the core. I was leaving the building to grab some lunch and I noticed a gafuffal on the sidewalk... it was a baby falcon that had fallen from it's nest atop our building and unable to fly. I contacted building security, who in turn called the group responsible for "planting" the birds atop our tower. They asked us to box the bird, which we did and they arrived shortly after to "replant" the bird on the roof. I hope that bird is still doing it's best to keep Toronto's pigeon population under control! HH -
You make a good point! Maybe I should save some of that bird for when I drop some electronics in the water... I could use the turkey instead of rice! HH

Was at my MIL for turkey dinner... she put a 15lb turkey in the oven at 10:00am and served it to us at 6:00pm... a very unique sound when gravy was applied... very much like the sound of water being pulled down a large drain... and to make matters worse, she ALWAYS throws out the neck and gibblets, which are the only edible parts of the bird as far as I'm concerned! Normally, I do the bird, but this year, she said she wanted to do it... and she's always amazed when I tell her the bird was completely cooked in just over 2 1/2 hours... So now I have half a desert turkey in my fridge as she insisted that I take it home to make soup and turkey tettrazini (sp). On the bright side, it has absorbed all of the ice build up in my spare fridge, craving moisture! LOL HH

After 27 years BB, maybe they do need a bit of a wash!? HH
-
Fair enough, but tossing that out there casts a fairly wide net, you have to be careful what gets caught in it! HH
-
Exactly... which is why I questioned your comment "yeah, screw the environment"... HH
-
I ALWAYS take issue with comments like this... the fact is that for most people, the hybrids and what not, offered by most manufacturers don't meet the overall needs of many consumers... so until the manufacturers can create a solution that really works, I'll keep buying gas... and I 'm not going to get into the whole evironmental affect that these hybrids have in the long run... do some reading! I got a call at home on Saturday afternoon at around 1:00pm... tales of wow for our friend Rubin. I immediately called his home and told his wife to get the chicken out of the freezer cause there wasn't going to be fish on the menu that night!LMAO! Thanks for the report Will and god love ya for letting Rubin long release those fish... and yes, I was jealous as I would have much preferred laughing at Rubin's mis-fortune, then cooking for the 40 people I had at my house that evening! HH -
And Skip, watch out for Miss Kelly's Chili! HH
-
I'm sure Terry and Wayne enjoyed that! HH

That would probably be a great vehicle BB, until of course you get those back tires wet, backing in your boat! HH
-
But only from shore Bill! LMAO HH

I like my bacon rubbery... what ever you do, don't over cook it! And a huge plus for "homemade bacon, cut thick, medium rare or heck even better, just cut off the block! HH -
I'm surprised that you aren't going on about the two rod rule as well... HH
-
lol Lew... I think Sam had a few years on you... and some of the best music written was done in the 50's... heck, it's the basis on which everything afterwards is based... HH
-
What a great day youse had! Thanks for the pics and report! HH

Turkey bacon is a waste of perfectly good salt and smoke... not fit for human consumption... I could probably live without bacon (unhappily of course)but please, for the love of God, don't mess with my Prosciutto!!!!! Ok, who am I fooling! I just hope that they don't realize how much we would really pay, for our bacon fix!! HH -
lol Brian.... Remember, this is the same guy who heard the Beatles being played in his store and told them to take it off as the stuff will never sell! LMAO! Sam was an expert in what was called Pop music... except Pop music to him was the Rat Pack, Tony Bennett etc... he had no clue what so ever as to anything produced after 1965! RIP Sam... HH

Snidley, I fail to see the difference in perceived value between a fish caught out in the middle of the lake and one caught from shore... especially when you consider that those shore catches are being done during the fish's reproductive periods... But since YOU prefer to catch them from shore, the rest of us obviously are raping the resource... BTW- I kept one Bow this year... I bet you caused a lot more damage at a time when the fish are more vulnerable then I have... PS... try using a comma in your high brow verbal diarrhea... HH

Look for fallen trees that are submerged, bank side. Get right in there and drop a jig and worm between the branches... you'll have to weed out the WGSP and such, but you will get Pickereyes hiding in the fallen trees, using them as current breaks and ambush sites. HH

Sorry, but I simply don't care... they are not native, it is a put and take fishery so really, what's everyone getting their gitch in a knot about. HH

Sam's was my first job when I moved to Toronto from London in the late 80's. I worked there for just under a year. There is no arguing that Sam's had everything that was avaiable, in his flagship store on Yonge... yes he was an icon in Canadian music, but he was not a very good person to work for. Perhaps that's why he had the level of success he had... His business model was quite interesting... the flag ship store almost always lost money, but since he owned the distribution company that supplied all Sam's stores with product, he made money hand over fist selling product to his stores and franchiese coast to coast. Interestingly, his brother Sid actually owned multiple properties on Yonge Street, from Queen to Gerard. If your talking money, Sid had Sam beat handily. HH
