  1. Mostly marshmellows actually! HH
  2. Howdy folks... This past weekend was our annual winter GTG at Bernie's on Nip... Bernie, myself, Cliff and FishnSled. We fished the evening bite Friday, all Saturday and to show for our efforts, one Pickereye under the slot... two Pickereye's smaller than your average Perch... oh, but I did catch 3, 6inch perch as well... Fishing aside for a moment, we have our usual laughs, good food and good company... weather had no bearing on the weekend... Now, not to stir things up too much, but I can't help but wonder why we are seeing so many people struggling to get what has until recently been a pretty good a steady fishery. I know the reason and I also know that many of you do as well, but I didn't want to draw that stink into this post... just yet another great big THANKS to Bernie for inviting us, being a wonderful host and putting up with us fools all weekend. Bernie took most if not all of the pics, so I'll let him have at it, when he has time! HH
  3. Bring you Perch stuff cause there are no Pickereye's left on Nip... sad actually because I can tell that over the last three years, the numbers have dropped... Four guys fished two days at Bernie's this past weekend, one keeper Pickereye in places that we have historically netted fish... Gonna have to start looking at other bodies iof water, if I want to take home a feed... unless of course I want to catch perch! HH
  4. I find the prices for meat there to be very fair... and actually in some cases much cheaper. I like to cook flank steaks. Done properly, they can be fantastic. I can buy one flank steak at Metro, for between $12 and $15, depending on size, obviously. Cheaper if/when they ever go on sale. Costco, I get two steaks, for about the same price. So to my mind, it depends on what you want/need. I will buy a hole strip loin roast there. (Here's a ltttle secret for yah... make sure when you buy meat there, that you are buying Canada AAAA beef, not the USA AAA beef. The Canadian beef taste much better to me!) I'll cut it into steak sizes, individually wrap them, then they hit the freezer. This is an extremely cost effective way of getting great steaks and a reasonable price. I do the same with their Rib Eye roasts. Know your prices, know what you want and Costco can be a great place to shop. Go inthere with no list, no ideas... get ready to be raped at the cash out counter! HH
  5. "Meet the new boss... same as the old boss!" HH
  6. Their strip loins are the BEST... actually all of their meat is 2nd to none im my books... I got my ice auger there this year and it was priced lower than cost at many retailers, so I am happy. As has been mentioned, you gotta know your prices... but, they do have one off deals that the stores get and they can be great deals, if the timing is right. Kirland batteries are great, half price compared to anything else and my kids go through batteries like Carter goes through pills. Pick up one of their Strip loin roasts, cook it properly and then ask me if the membership is worth it! HH
  7. Nets under the ice near spawning shoals is really gonna help a lot, isn't it? HH
  8. I have to agree with everyone who has replied so far... survival instinct would take over in a flash... That being said, I am however awaiting a post here from someone who will disagree with the majority and tell us why he deserves to go to jail... or why he should have just moved his residence... HH
  9. http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/01/20/man-faces-jail-after-protecting-home-from-masked-attackers/ Maybe he should have actually shot them... atleast there would be a real reason to charge him! HH
  10. A man was leaving a convenience store with his morning coffee when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file. The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said, "I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. "Whose funeral is it?" "My wife's." ''What happened to her?" The man replied, "My dog attacked and killed her." He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?" The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her." A very poignant and touching moment, of brotherhood and silence, passed between the two men. "Can I borrow the dog?" The man replied, "Get in line."
  11. I have to agree with this ^ And I'd probably pay to watch the show again, if they removed that background music and allowed us to hear what was actually said during the filming. Having met "Red" a couple of times, I would guess that a show like that would probably be sequestered to late night viewing! Language would have been colourful to say the least! HH
  12. I've seen them attack a stainless steel prop travelling at 50 MPH and funny enough, the bird lost the fight! HH
  13. Killer tune Rich! Probably my favorite FF tune! Goona have to take a listen again... good luck not shackin yer money maker on that one! HH
  14. I always look forward to your reports and as expected, this one does not disappoint.... Thanks, HH
  15. To me, the best Pickereyes come from Nip... they just taste better then most places and they are readily available along most shore lines, just look for the processing plant. Lake Erie Pickereyes taste pretty darn good as well and even the bigger ones are fine table fare. They can be found at your local Loblaws. I would not suggest eating Pickereyes out of Quinte, they usually taste like compared to the above two locations...and no, you can't find them at your local supermarket. I hope this helps yah! HH
  16. Sam's off to a great start G! He seems to have some natural ability and a strong ear. He could probably use some lessons, if for no other reason than to shorten his learning curve. I would also suggest that he use this tool http://www.metronomeonline.com/ in his practice... Keep at it Sam! As long as you enjoy the time spent on an instrument, it is time very well spent! (And we aren't even going to discuss the chicks in his future! LOL) Play that thing till yer fingers bleed Sam! HH
  17. To get the B and B taste out of my mouth!!!!! A palet cleanser if you will! HH
  18. Yup. both work very well for me as well! HH
  19. This is what I get for being in a meeting for the past two hours and leaving my computer available to any that wants to mess with it! The real "HH" So, back on topic... redemption is what make me feel warm and fuzzy!
  20. It's Friday so I figured I would start this off for you all. Things that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside are: rainbow's in the sky after the rain a fresh white blanket of snow on a bright sunny day what does it for you? HH
  21. Armageddon!!!!! I've cleared my schedule for Wednesday and at this point, plan on being home... now before you all get high and mighty on me, a little background! I grew up in London, snow is mainly just an inconvenience for me! I love driving in it, heck, I even like shovelling the stuff as it is a time I get to share with my neighbours as we all clean up. My main reason for "planning" to stay home is the fact that I take the Go Train to work and well, they don't actually have the best record of service during any snow, much less what they are calling for here tomorrow. So, I'll likely be home Wednesday, good time to get some things done and enjoy the peacefulness that an empty house brings. HH
  22. I've always thought you were an excellent person Terry! HH
  23. Blondes Explaining Easter Three blondes died and found themselves standing before St. Peter. He told them that before they could enter the Kingdom, they had to tell him what Easter represented. The first blonde, an American, said "Easter is a holiday where they have a big feast and we give thanks and eat turkey." St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and wouldn't let her in. The second blonde, a Brit, said "Easter is when we celebrate Jesus's birth and exchange gifts." St. Peter said, "Noooooo," and he wouldn't let her in either. The third blonde, a Canadian, said she knew what Easter was, and St.Peter said, "So, tell me." She said, "Easter is a Christian holiday that coincides with the Jewish festival of Passover. Jesus was having Passover feast with his disciples when he was betrayed by Judas, and the Romans arrested him. The Romans hung him on the cross and eventually he died. Then they buried him in a tomb behind a very large boulder ... " St. Peter said, "Verrrrrry good." Then the blonde continued, "Now, every year the Jews roll away the boulder and Jesus comes out. If he sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of hockey." St. Peter fainted. HH
  24. Duct Tape! HH
