  1. Same answers every time this subject gets posted on OFC. If you go leave your cash, cards and cheques at home and only go for the entertainment aspect of it.
  2. If you want a truck I don't think you'll go wrong with a Ranger, been around for a long, long time as stated the newer ones are a Mazda. As for the reliability of the 3 litre? I have a 97 Aerostar which is the older Ford Ranger platform with a 3 litre and it has 292,000 kms on the clock and every one of them driven by myself, wife or son. Knock on wood no problems so far except for the oil leak that just recently developed. My mechanic says they are bulletproof and he is an ex-Ford dealer grease monkey. Plenty of parts are available for Rangers and in comparison they are probably cheaper than the Mazda twin.
  3. If you add ON to the hull # you would be indicating it has a different reg. #, don't do that just leave it as is. OFC'rs need to remember that you should also change your address with Service Canada in regards to your boat registration if you should happen to move. There is N/C for this, well at least there never used to be.
  4. Oh yeah, great deal on the A/C
  5. Adult film star! OK, someone had to say it. I'm surprised that the thread got this far before someone said that Advise: Get educated, find what you like to do, figure out how to do it and how to make a living doing it. Simple isn't it? The hard part is figuring out what you want to do. Whatever you do enjoy it, doesn't matter so much how great the pay is the main thing is to enjoy life to the highest level you can. It really is true that the best things in life are free but everything else costs money. If you find what you like then success is sure to follow because you enjoy it and no matter how tough the job is you will endure and climb to the top. My son has it all figured out at 17, I'm over 50 and still haven't found out what I want to do for the rest of my life. My list of past jobs: Fast food manager Hospital supply attendant Steel worker Tow truck driver Partner in a residential and commercial cleaning company Retired Broke, back to work this time as a window and door sales rep Business operator again, window and door sales and installations Window and door sales rep because I was broke again Casino dealer Window and door sales (again) Casino supervisor! Window and door sales (yep again) Casino dealer! Travel college student! ESL instructor Door and window sales (notice door is first this time) Window and door sales!!! Window and door sales, this time I wear an orange apron! Next step, insane asylum! The reason for all this running around: The grass was always greener on the other side of the fence. However I guess I will be a Tinman (siding, windows, door sales) till they throw me into a box and yes I did keep going back to the same job all those times. I keep telling myself I need to get into a new field but... The best gig of them all was the ESL teacher, it was only part time but it was fun and I had a great student group from all over the world, Japan, Korea, Russia, Turkey, Serbia, Kazakhstan (or one of the other something stans.) Now I have to get down to business! I only have 14 years left till my next retirement! Gee, I think about it and if I had never left the hospital, my first full time job, I would be retiring now with a pension and probably a nice pay off so they could just get rid of me and be done with it! I hope you find the right job that is perfect for you, all the best.
  6. I'm impressed! Five hours in a casino and you still had money left to buy a boat! Sounds like this is a dealer that has a lot to learn about service, the old saying holds water doesn't it? "You get what you pay for." Service comes at a cost, it isn't free, the lowest price isn't always the best price.
  7. White bucket. Of course some use white buckets for other purposes, I would advise 2 in that case.
  8. The clamp type that also has four screw in brackets work really well. I have this type on of my centre seats and the type that slides from side to side on the tiller seat.
  9. Congrats on the new boat! You should enjoy many hours of enjoyment. Legend brought out the 16' console the year after I bought my 16' Lowe tiller. If they had it in 2004/2005 I would have bought the Legend instead. As it was, Legend and Lowe were my final choices and it was a toss up on which I was buying, if the Legend dealer in Ft. Erie had returned my call before the Lowe dealer my garage could very well be housing a Legend now. I am though pleased with my decision. Happy
  10. Sounds like a good idea that's worth checking out.
  11. Yep, that might be a good idea if you ever go after penguins. Snooty little devils they are, all dressed up in their tuxedos and prancing around with their noses all stuck up in the air like they do.
  12. The dressed Mepps are a buck and a half to two bucks more than non-dressed. If you have the hair/fur to do it why not save a buck...if you have the time to do it. Look at the Mepps web site and it tells what kind of fur is used. I think they use squirrel fur, you can always trap your own and make the project really entertaining
  13. Yep, tried one once, a rather large one, tasted just fine and dandy. Hey they're panfish! All panfish are tasty.
  14. Great video, you did a fantastic job of putting it altogether
  15. Looks like your in the cool crowd Lew. As said, get some locks on the wheels.
  16. You failed to tell Beans that you installed a seat ejection system into it. A guest starts to catch more fish than you and you hit the ejection button! That'll teach him a lesson! LOL Good read and I'm glad to hear no one was injured except for some embarrassment.
  17. It would make an ideal planter box for a redneck.
  18. DON"T fill it to the top! Fill to the line, when you look down into the hole you will see what looks like a cat's eye. When you have filled the cell to this point that is enough. BTW, many on the board swear that they use just regular tap water and haven't reported any problems. I have used my dehumidifier water for the past few years. Also keep an eye on your car's battery's water level too by checking it periodically. They are not as sealed as you think they are. At least twice a year I have to add water to both of mine.
  19. Always fun to look back at the old pictures. Helps to remind us of who we are. That is a good photo, nice and clear for it's age.
  20. LOL Sometimes all you need to do is open your mouth to whisper and a whole new controversial topic has been created. Ya gotta luv dis place
  21. I found a really hot spot once, so I figured I should mark the location. Since I haven't a GPS or any other such devise at my disposal I just pulled out my trusty Sharpie pen and drew a big "X" on the starboard side of my boat. Funny thing is, I just can't find any more fish where that X is.
  22. The riveted hulls are good, but welded hulls? I have a 2005 Lowe 1667T, fine boat but it's bare bones so there's not much to screw up on it.
  23. All you need to carry is: Drivers license Health card/Ohip If you are going fishing the fishing license if operating watercraft then take that card too You do not need to carry citizenship card, birth certificate, unused or unnecessary credit cards, passport, SIN card (memorize it not difficult to do) leave these at home in a locked safe secure box or safe with no identifying label on it as what is inside. Also as for SIN I have never been asked to show it for a job or when applying for credit. You only need to know the number.
  24. We seldom need to have to present our social insurance cards to anyone, same as birth certificates or other personal documentation other than Ohip, drivers license or fishing license that TV and radio newscasts are advising us to leave these in a safe place other than our wallets. If you don't need it don't carry it, memorize your SIN # and any others if you can. I now no longer carry unnecessary documents with me. I think the advise makes sense, it is too easy to loose a wallet or have it stolen and at least if this should happen then there is less to have to worry about and you will still have at least some proof of who you are if it happens. I wish you a speedy return of everything. i no longer carry
  25. Great looking feed of perch there! Bet you buddy had a fantastic day All those fried up tasty morsels are making me hungry, good job
