ING and PC are still banks, in fact PC is owned by CIBC. The main difference is that they are branchless banks, which allow them to keep costs down by outsourcing everything via telemarketing and not paying a staff of employees. The benefits? You save on fees. The negatives? Lost local jobs, and having to deal with someone over the phone when you have a problem with your account/bank card/etc.

Thanks for setting this all up guys, it was a good time! I got to meet a lot of new folks and all of them were great guys. The weather was decent (before 6pm) and I'm really glad that most guys were able to pull up a fish or two. What more could you ask for?

I got it on eBay a while ago (7 years). I just came across it and ended up buying it off a kid in Toronto. I have seen a few others but they are rare, it is called a "Trolite 2000" made of thick plastic and aluminum. I think I paid around 25 bucks for it.

I'm not sure the ratio but If I had to guess, one crank would be around 10-15 prop turns maybe? I raced two guys paddling once and was able to keep up so it'll go pretty good.

I see... I ran into a similar problem when I wanted to bring a motor into Algonquin park but couldn't use gas and didn't want to lug a battery around. I ended up picking up one of these guys, light weight and thrust depends on how hard you want to crank it!

Roots in my drain line Half way to the road

A buddy of mine and my brother just went through this. Both ended up replacing their old clay pipes with new ABS. The problem with having to snake it every couple of years is that it always seemed to happen at the worst times (had company over which meant more flushes). Plus, you have to clean up turds when it backs up. Also, look into getting a liner inserted. Apparently its a relatively new technology where they can insert a plastic liner in the old pipe via your cleanout in the house. Supposed to be cheaper and work pretty good. -
Yep, the OPP were sitting on sleds nailing people repositioning their shacks after a big wind storm a few years ago. They made a mint that day. Glad you found it amusing!

Make sure you have a rigid tow bar to pull it with. We moved ours on Nipissing once with a tow strap and got a ticket for it... brutal.

Looks like I'm likely gonna be joining you guys for this. 25km/h winds, I may need to drag the shack along. One question though Nipfisher, Is there any place to park other than the few spots near the Chief? I've only parked over there once before and didn't notice any other areas to park.

I've done the battery + trolling motor deal -- switched to a 2hp gas motor and never looked back.... Batteries are a PITA. Out on the water you can always bring a jerry can to refill your 2-hp, can't really carry a generator and battery charger...

Hey Nipfisher, What shape is the lake in? really slushy?

Trolling for Lakers How To
Lip-ripper replied to Dontcryformejanhrdina's topic in General Discussion
We hammer them usually in 75-95 FOW or deeper. Sometimes right on or near bottom in over 100 FOW flatlining with 3 oz bottom walkers. If you are going to downrig, keep an eye on your depth and never let the ball come too close to bottom. If you are running them at 80 feet for example, as soon as the depth starts coming up near 85-90 feet, get ready to crank up your riggers a few feet to stay ahead of it. You don't want them bouncing off bottom or getting hung up. Lures will vary depending on water clarity. I tend to use shinier lures in clearer water, with colours being used in murkier situations. I'll run around 8-10 feet of line behind the ball. If you leave to much, the lure will sink if you have to make a sharp turn, and could get hung up. You can also run gang-trolls or flashers attached to the ball, and use a 2 way release a few feet up the line that holds your lure above it. -
Typical, I wish they would be consistent.

Asked a CO that that very question while he was checking us last year... yes you can. Not supposed to leave half-burnt logs on the ice though.

Nice, I've seen one of these in action... works well. A variation of it had 4 nails, hammered part way into the top of it to keep the frying pan up off the wood for more even heat.

he was really moving, the first sled was white (which probably didn't help), and it looks like the white sled moved into his path at the last minute. He did seem to slow down a bit too. Freak accident but I think speed was the main culprit.

This can happen so easily... apparently they didn't die, thank god... http://www.break.com/index/brutal-sn...-crash-2285992

Would be awesome to see a big pike get hooked and make a few nice long runs with that many lines down! -
Leafs need a real Goalie to have any hope of going anywhere this year. The pylons they have right now sure as heck won't get it done. If you believe otherwise you are sadly mistaken.

Lake Nipissing ice fishing starting late

Last time I was in there his wife was working when I stopped in for minnows. I said "2 dozen shiners please" she replied "you'll get 2 dozen of whatever I scoop"... I ended up with a mix of dace and chubs. I haven't been back since, that was 3 years ago... too bad, i like the guy but thats no way to treat any customer let alone someone who was in there at least twice a week. -
what do you think is in this picture

That'll teach the axe licker a lesson... -
All I meant was... When you have a deluge of weekend warriors ripping all over lakes every which way in every type of PWC and boat available, I agree that a stricter stance on drinking should be enforced. However, when a few fishermen want to have a couple beer and enjoy a day on the water, they can now be fined. Silly IMO. Heck, part of the reason for it now being law to have your boaters card was because of the boat traffic on these busy lakes.
-
Try a trip to Quebec one of these years. You're allowed beer in the boat there. Not to mention the fishing's better and most of the people are more pleasant to be around. There are so many boating rules in Ontario it's silly. We can thank the cottagers in Muskoka for that.
