  1. I'm not convinced that the piece of wood isn't affecting anything. If you clamp something onto a board near the edge, it has much less strength and much more flex than it does when you clamp it closer to the middle. If you are going to bring it in for a Lund dealer to look at it for Warranty, I would pull that wood out first, they may claim the motor was installed improperly and void the warranty. Just my 2 cents...
  2. I'm not sure but I would remove it ASAP. That motor isn't mounted right when it's like that. For sure that's contributing to the twist in the transom. Perhaps the shaft length is wrong for the boat so the previous owner jimmied it??
  3. is that a piece of wood wedged in there to make the motor sit higher? that might be contributing to the problem...
  4. We'll get out, I haven't been able to fish as many weekends as i usually do in the summer time. Lots of other stuff going on. Hopefully it'll slow down soon and we can get out to rip some lip!
  5. Hey all, One of my first reports on this site so here goes. I had a free weekend to head out with a fishing buddy of mine to focus on just FISHING. Not chores or anything to build so we were really looking forward to it. Lake 1 - the morning - Headed out to try for some inland rainbows. I did really good a few years ago targeting them but have had a rough go of it of late. I tried throwing everything at them but to no avail... no takers. We did mark plenty of fish, they had lock-jaw though. After 4 hours of trolling we decided to pack it up and head a few km's away to target Lakers. As we were packing up we heard snowmobiles... Exactly... snowmobiles? couldn't be... Well, when we got back to the landing, this is what we saw! A couple kids were out ripping across the shallow part of the bay on there sleds... mixed feelings about it due to lake pollution but it was kinda neat to see. This was the 2nd time the MXZ had been sunk, they had already got it out of deeper water once and got it running again. After a quick chat we were on our way... no time to waste! Lake 2 - The afternoon - About 30 minutes later we were set up for trolling. A mix of Williams spoons coupled with and without gang-trolls were on the menu and within 10 minutes a beauty 4 pounder was landed. 15 minutes later another small one hit and joined the party on the stringer. We were flatlining between 60-110 foot depths but were suspended. After a couple more hours we decided to call it for dinner and had a nice little bounty to show for our work. Back to the camp for a quick bite... Lake 3 - the Evening - After filling our faces we were re-juvinated and ready to target some feisty evening Smallies. The lake was glass so topwater was the first item to try. Nothing... rubber worms... nothing... raps... nothing... spoons?!!? Here we go! The first nice one was just under 3 lbs, a good sized bass and great fighter. Not 3 casts later and this hog was landed! weighed in just under 4 and had a nice bulging gut on it. I actually got a video of the fight but due to darkness it was a touch too blurry to share. These smallmouth really give it their all! After a few more little guys with some crazy acrobatics, the bugs came out and it was time to hydrate the sunburns with some cold ones so we called it a day... 9 hours of boat time, 3 lakes, 2 species... Definitely a great day...
  6. The main reason is they sell Yamaha ATVs that never break down and need repairs!
  7. Don't forget to pick out all the parasites first! they are wormy devils...
  8. Update... the one in north Bay has the same deal on. A buddy of mine went up and dropped $600+ on a bunch of stuff. Winch, life jackets, helmets, snowmobile belts etc...
  9. I heard last night that they are going out of business also.
  10. Nice fish guys! That's a decent spot you were fishing too, I know it well!
  11. The day I pay for and eat gill netted walleye is the day they are feeding me through a tube. I for one, won't support that "industry".
  12. I've been out a couple times this year. There have been several "dink" pickeral caught each time. That being said, I have also caught my limit of quality eater sized fish on the same outings. Biggest caught this year has been 22" and of course was released. I took the wife out on wednesday and we caught 12 in one hour of fishing.
  13. I figured you'd notice that! I couldn't use the other name, it wasn't taken but for reason the system wouldn't let me. I'll take you out Nipfisher, last night was a last minute kinda thing, we are usually home after midnight.
  14. Hey all, fairly new to the OFC board so this will be my first real report here. My buddy and I decided last minute to head out to the Mattawa area around 9 pm last night to try our hand at some Channel Cats. We had planned on hitting Nipissing but with the Gail force winds yesterday it just wasn't happening. I had to get out for some relaxing Lip-Rippin after my wife rolled my truck last weekend (She's fine, the truck isn't)... needless to say it's been a hell of a week. As soon as we set up with the earthworm/powerbait combos the cats were snappin! 2 lost and 2 landed within the first 20 minutes. We ended up keeping a few smaller 3 pounders for a meal but had a fun time landing the fellow pictured below who weighed in at just under 9 pounds. I'm waiting to get placed onto a 2011 OFC team, next time I go I'll make sure to get some pics with the OFC card in the frame so I can hopefully help my team out.
  15. looks like it could be an Antique "Hot Shot" or one of the Lures made by a company called "Rush Tango"
  16. lol, Give me a break, Pro Bass fishermen? I'm sure they are good at catching bass (the easiest fish to catch IMO)... I bet they would be lost if I took them out to a couple of my secret brookie spots. They probably couldn't even handle the blackflies!
  17. I sometimes cook fish in bacon grease... yummy!
  18. I love it! in a 16 pick playoff pool, I took 5 Bolts and 6 Sharks, if those 2 teams go all the way... $$$$$$$$$$
  19. Yep, red portable shack, black Ford ranger...
  20. If you overload your truck, you'll have problems no matter what method you use. I have had these on for 2 years and haven't had any issues at all. I often have my ATV in the back of the truck and they have helped. It weighs around 600lbs. Whatever method you do end up with will help, I just found this method was the most cost effective and didn't affect my warranty (I called Stockfish). Just curious, Rod caster, were you at the Nosbonsing M&G back in December?
  21. I have a 2008 Ranger 4X4 and had the same problem as you. Talk to the fellow at the steering wheel and get him to order you a set of spring helpers. Costs around $60, and you can bolt them on in 10 minutes. They will beef up your cargo capacity and lift about .5-1 inch. Here's what they look like, I hope this helps...
