  2. That river never ceases to amaze me, Aaron knows it like the back of his hand, looking forward to more eye opening days on it. Cold was an understatement, the tough part was us both resisting the obvious tempation roe in a pocket lol
  3. thanks all for your input and advise, seems a trip is in the making
  4. thinking of going to Erie PA for a few days and I got to thinking. 2 days of shopping with the dolar close to par, gas to get there and back, 200 for the hotel, food for 5 for 2 days and declared duties are you really saving money. I can see if your maybe spending 5 grand on Christmas but if your only spending a few grand does it really make a difference
  5. I cant say I have ever found a smokin deal at any show, but with a few feet of snow on the ground its a welcome diversion

  7. ya but everyone gets lucky once in a while " go bills go " I say lol
  8. its hell and back, I have had it on and off for a few years, I dont want a chemical therapy as it just masks and releives it Intensive physio, the rack heat massage and the such makes it better but I found that switching mattrasses and pillows made the world of difference went to a temper belafina set and it really seems that whenI wake up I have way less stress on my lower back that with a swedish neck pillow seems to make all the difference
  9. Round two thanks for some of the listens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1iR2Wi3u5o and ya no night is complete without this
  10. seems Lewiston as per its web cam got virtually no snow
  11. Lake is drawn down, lots of seeps with 15 inches in one location and 2 inches 100 feet away, that being said some do Ice fish by the dam in winter but and I warn you here, every year I hear someone falling through, not worth it IMO lots of better hidden brook trout gems in the near distance to ice fish without intimate knowledge I wouldnt I have it there I dont like walking that lake unless its -20 for a week plus at least
  12. Doug what species is it skiened ( all on a membrane ) or loose roe IMO and god I hope this doesnt start some debate but every fish's eggs have different qualities on how its going to milk in a river, if a reaction bite is what your after then single beads work just fine. I ll give a little 411 if its any fish, out of the fish onto some paper towel no contact with water no water hardening nothing, with a brown the egg membrane is tough enough to survive multipe thaws and really requires no special treatment in fact any treatment on them in my opinion ruins its milking quality pat dry on paper towel and into the freexer they go Rainbows have a thinner wall and if not used in the first 30 days, many will break leaving you a mess. ( unless you are prepared to vaccum store them, and thats another topic, how to store eggs) Loose eggs again pat dry on paper towel just dry enough to remove the fluid, a small degree of salt ( and I mean less then a 1/4 tsp for 2 litres of eggs) Skein either your scraping it with the back of a spoon or cutting it into chunks , with skein I suggest you vaccum pack them as the air between eggs and the unavoidable liquid with cause lots of egg bursting as they expand in the freezer I siggest a paper towel dry once scraped to remove liquid again, careful as they get sticky really fast ( like 10 minutes ) Chinook again are right in the middle in terms of toughness of the egg wall, generally loose chinook eggs I ll treat like brown eggs, out of the fish into the freezer with again some drying. No eggs should sit out for longer then 5 minutes on paper you really just want to remove the amniotic fluid Artificial products work just as good and some days out produce natural eggs, the only time I really cure eggs are when I want to specifically use them on the niagara in the dead of winter with floaters in the sacs
  13. Albert what you need to be very aware of is water pressure,RPM's are important for sure its a good and true measure the prop is the right one I think that engine needs somewhere in the 10 to 15 psi ( someone correct me if Im wrong) low water pressure will cause engine failure very quick The prop breaking out and swinging meant your over trimmed and you lost bite of the propeller. BBC will get you to where the prop should be off the pad and will also get you to the right water pressure, I learned with my other boat that no matter what PSI was the ticket and you can only trim so much I dont know where you want to go with this rig ( but your restore looked sweet) I didnt see the full merit of a hydro jack plate but a friend amlost insisted I order it with my rig, best choice ever...dial on the fly is frikkin awsome
  14. 25p 3 blade fury or a 25 p 4 blade trophy plus the 4 blade for stability in roug hwater the 3 blade for speed
  15. I have been stopped twice, both times the first question asked after alchol was did I have the card
  16. Fish caught from deep water (generally greater than 18-20 feet) can suffer from over expansion of the swim bladder. Fish suffering from this condition cannot maintain a normal upright position. They cannot stay down in the livewell or recovery tank for long, and often float with their tails, heads or sides breaking the surface. A golf-ball-sized lump may appear on the side of the fish. Inserting a 2-inch-long, 16-18-gauge hypodermic needle into the swim bladder can relieve the excess pressure. The needles can be obtained from farm and ranch or veterinary supply firms. Tournament officials are usually trained and proficient with this technique so they can perform the procedure on fish brought to weigh-in. However, air bladder relief is best done as soon as the fish shows signs of distress. This means that anglers should also become proficient and comfortable with the technique so that the procedure can be performed in the boat If the bass appears bloated and can't upright itself, deflation may be required. To fizz the bass locate the swim bladder. The bladder is in line with the dorsal notch, below the lateral line and above the anal vent, approximately midway . Slide the fizzing needle under a scale and at an upward angle. This will puncture the swim bladder. Done correctly you will see air bubbles and/or hear a fizzing sound. When the bubbles subside, your fish is ready for release. To properly release, make several figure 8's. Hold the bass by the lip and below the surface. We don't recommend the push and pull method. Before using the fizzle needle again, rinse and check for clogs. The location for needle insertion varies with fish size, but in general, draw an imaginary line between the notch in the dorsal fins . Draw another line from the tip of the pectoral fin to the fork in the tail. Where these lines intersect, remove a scale or two and push the needle straight into the body cavity Do not squeeze or press on the fish to force out more gas. When the bubbles stop, the fish should be able to right itself and swim normally. The larger the fish, the farther toward the head of the fish you need to insert the needle. On fish over 5 pounds you may need to insert the needle within an inch of the tip of the pectoral fin It is controversial for sure, but the fish wont survive with out deflation Im pretty sure that at just less then 1 atmosphere the bladder can re inflate, and if the fish is caught, a picture taken and released within a very short period the fish will swim down and be fine for the most part, if you need to fizz the fish was out of the water/depth too long anyhow
  17. there is nothing I want that I cant buy... what I want for Christmas is my mother to not die...
  18. where else can you fish and in no time get wings beer and suicide wings from a hooters gal
  19. In our home, deep Cristian beliefs govern how we treat, are treated and how we choose to live. Both my wife and I are also very diligent in teaching our children that there are many who died to give them the freedom to swim play x box and do the things they do today, they have embraced Remberence day and understand the gravity of the day My son in grade 5 wrote a poem about today, which was entered into a competition and it appears now will grace the halls of legions, and military bases around this country Below is his poem A SOLDIER'S WISH Im in my final resting place in flanders field's as all us soldiers should be, From time to time I wonder why I joined the Military, My time has come, I have reached the end Lying in my poppy bed, I hope I have succeeded your free today to be, my mission is complete I bled for you, I cried for you and held my head high for you, Will you do the same for our country at the 11th minute of the 11th hour please take a brief moment to respect those that died for our freedom

  22. mike yes that feature isnt avaliable as far as I can tell, one of the things I loved on my canons over the years was the punchy vibrant colors. Maybe a tutorial instore might help but point and shoot means that lol beyond that Im done
  23. put my pentax for sale here I think I will go back to non waterproof technology,
  24. I looked at all of those camera's recently and opted for the pentax optio w90, the conclusion and here are a few pics is that its underwater features are great, but it lacks seriously in color saturation and portrait capability I was much happier with the image quality of my 8mp canon, so unless your bend on the water proof shock proof qualities I think that there are far better options for a camera here is an underwater shot, the color saturation is fair to good here is a close up macro on the camera and a fish picture here is where it lacks big time, here is a family shot from a few weeks back and in my opinion the quality is awful, and the settings are such that it should be the best quality pictures possible conclusion I think that the pentax is the best of all the options right now on the market and I think it falls short on lots of fronts, I ll more then likely sell it in the next few
