  1. learned to pack a bearing tonight and how to skin a chicken whats next lol and this too
  2. sean we are planning a stocking event soon let me know if this interests you, yes Kraft wants to have the optics of being a good corporate citizen, they own the land, the mnr has the easement on the fishway to operate it and we work under and agreement for the crown in this case. Believe me the last few years have been interesting with mnr and the corporate world I also miss the days when the parents brought kids to do this, one of the biggest volenteers in the club was 13 or so when he started lifting fish, now in his twenties and still at it
  3. Sean sorry the 16 age restriction is imposed by Kraft the property owner, and a rule we cant bend. We wanted to schedule a kids day this year but it didnt work out. Sorry Check the CRAA website as there are always opportunities to help with work or send me a pm
  4. Hire a guide, the good ones are usually booked solid and your on a list, expect it to cost in the range of 1000 a day with tip but buddy its gonns be the best grand you ever spent Beware there are no cheap salt water guides if someone offers 400 for a day and has a few days open he isnt the one
  5. mike call me you can buy off one of my accounts and get my whole sale price
  6. Thanks for everyone's help, our permit to transfer is coming to an end by Sunday we should be done, we will advise Sadly if there are any more fish that could be lifted the MNR wont let us, and the steelhead will be forced to spawn in water that isnt capable of any reproduction
  7. the lifts continue weekly and on weekends also so that those that do work can potentially find time within a schedule to assist for a few hours
  8. good idea I have been known to cook the odd meal, a nice planked salmon here, maybe recipies and some pics I love foodie based pictures of a meal I ll start
  9. Hey Im no pro just a joe, had fun that day shooting mike D's first Canadian show, here is a promo for it should air May 3rd http://lunkerville.com/lunkerville1/movies/tidbitformilo.mov
  10. scott take a pass more often then not boats of that age have issues with transom rot or stringer rot. Spend a bit more and get a rig that has less chances of such things
  11. the posse is alive and well!!! Mike thanks for the pictures motivated me to pick up and take my son in the am!!
  12. Tibbs thats a tough one to answer, are you over 16 yrs old
  13. Hey all Due to weather lits have been cancelled for tommorrow, we are thinking the weekend and will advise
  14. Cheesy to answer the question on the reduction from 5 to 2, statistically there is virtually no change in harvest rates, Somewhere in the 3 to 8% range in overall harvest rates. I want to caution that much of the relevent data collected By LOMU is outdated and in many cases challanged data, I think that is changing with new managment at the helm. What this does do is spark the debate for future managment directions to all salmonids. If we want to see what a reduction really does we only need to look at the salmon river, prior to a reduction to 1 fish the run was estimated at 6000 or so with the reduction to 1 fish the fall catch was estimated at 32000. 2 fish to be blunt mearly puts a bandaid on it, but what it does is recognize that the MNR feels that harvest is not at sustinable levels and that steps need to be taken, remember the mNR doesnt have capacity to under go the neccessary work in many cases, hence where we are these days with some fisheries. CRAA creel data from both the boat launch and tag returns show 90% are harvested in the lake and to have a sustainable fishery harvest needs to be in the 30 to 35% This entire thing has sparked us at CRAA to gather all relevent temporal data on steelhead and become an internet deposit for it when things like this pop up, right now the vast majority of supporting science sits with 3 people and we intend to bring it to a public depository on the site soon.
  15. Its that time Hey Guys, The weather is slowly starting to cooperate with us. Lifts will begin this Friday April 1st at the Streetsville fish way and will continue on until the 15th of April every night at 5pm. Unless the forecast changes. We will update weather changes on the Craa website www.craa.on.ca Please no vehicles at the ladder all parking is to be on Drenkelly and proceeed to walk down as a group, the gated will close once we begin and entrance to the ladder will not be possible so please show up prior to 5 pm daily Due to restrictions from the land Owner ( kraft Canada) No children under 16 are permitted It should be a record year, and we anticipate breaking our nightly record Give back to the resource come help Milo
  16. cook slav there are a multitude of studies out there and a pile I have here on my pc most are hude Power point files or equally huge adobe files that would need to be hosted somewhere to post. If you spend a day or two googling specifics on rainbows you ll find most of it a vast amount is in the public domain. No Im not a biologist, nor work for any governement body, I just have a huge addiction to chromers, and my mission to to do what ever I can to expand and enlarge anyones opportunity to tangle with that majestic fish I really hoped this wouldnt turn to a pullers vs drifters debate as IMO this regulatory change has nothing to do with that.
  17. I see the response is from a zone not specifically from OFAH directly. There is a vast body of scientific proof supporting a 2 fish reduction, in fact there is even a larger body of proof supporting a 1 fish with a slot and there is no doubt OFAH is aware of it, as its been presented right to them directly, by ME!!!!! Regardless I would like to see scientific proof that the status quo is what should be done. When Ontario chooses to abandon SPOF and it's biodiversity sustainability approach to managing its resource then we can return to some archaic method of stock till you drop, but until then avenue’s need to be put in place to supports the MNR's methodology on managing recreational fisheries in the province, and this is a good first step Not to play devil’s advocate, but while they aren’t supportive of a 5 to 2 is the OFAF supportive of more aggressive change, that’s the real question you should be asking them, potentially some of you should call them direct to gain clarification on this.
  18. Bill is still snowin here this is brutal..........hey al gore!!
  19. what can i say its snowing and my snow blower broke...I might be suffering from physical exertion, something I dont think I have had for years what are the symptom's again and any treatment lol
  20. nor would I or any that I know. What though would be need is seeing some of these rivers turn a small but productive section to floating line dry fly only......for steelhead
  21. lots of great discussion hope everyone has had the opportunity to contact the MNR to express your opinion
  22. Bill we wanted it to go to 1 across the board, and that would have made a huge difference, but 2 was a good first step, it gives a few years to analize if its the right move or a further reduction or slot needs to be done. Bring on those Chromers
  23. Like anything if there are 10000000 that say great and 2 that say its a bad move you know what the decision will be
  24. Below is the information for a proposed regulatory change on Lake ontario ( fmz 20 ) for rainbow Trout, Its a great step into the future one that We at CRAA offer full support and your comments are more then welcome please forward comments to [email protected] Louis Milo Vice CHair CRAA
