  1. If you get the above normal temperatures as well then your ice may be gone by May two four too.
  2. Plenty of safe ice on the west side of the bay during a cold winter. The east side never used to freeze at all, but since they built those peers out into Lake Ontario that side has been freezing too. But, I am not sure how safe the ice on the east side is. I have caught a few pike and perch; but I have not had great luck there.
  3. If my experience is any indication, it is not much of a hot spot. I have caught some pike there though.
  4. You get a fleet of them and herd the fish towards you.
  5. Are you able to get a good deal on second hand ones? I don't think you will saving any money if buy new ones.
  6. He definitely has a few screws loose; or perhaps missing altogether... This is an interesting post for someone who operates an ice hut rental business in Ontario... Marc Rochefort Thanks Kevin, come on over for a road trip when you can, maybe this summer... might be my last year in Canada, I am trying to move far far away to Grand Cayman Island for work. tired of winter and being cooped up! snow is finally melting here.
  7. I would check the gauge too. Many extension cords are 16 gauge, which may be too light for your needs. 10 gauge is probably overkill; 12 gauge would be good.
  8. I got a 10 gauge cord from Costco a few years back. It was pretty reasonable.
  9. Thanks for all of the feed back. My wife passed away before Christmas. The Jimmy was mine and Rav4 was hers. I have a 17 year old son who currently has is G1. When he gets is his G2, he will have to be added to my insurance. If I have two vehicles, then he will need to be added as a principle drivers of one. I am not sure what it would cost to have a 17 year old boy with a G2 insured as a principle driver; but I know it will be a lot. I am hoping to get rid of one vehicle so that I can insure him as an occasional driver. I would prefer to keep the Jimmy, but the Rav4 comes with an outstanding loan for considerably more than what Toyota mentioned as a trade in value. So it will take a lot of cash up front for me to walk away from the Rav4. Plus the Jimmy is eleven and a half years old and may need to be replaced in a few years. The thought of having to buy another vehicle a few years after paying to walk a way from 13 month old one is not a pleasant one. That is why I am considering keeping the Rav4. Of course, that means it have to serve as a two vehicle. There has been a lot of input from a lot of people: Many of suggested a new vehicle; but that is not an easy decision. To best of my knowledge; manufacture's recommendations are not legally binding. So, I wouldn't be breaking any laws by being a little over. The only legal limit that I am aware of is 10,000 pounds for a G license. While this version of the Rav4 is rated to tow 1,500 pounds, the v6 version was rated for 3,500 pounds, and the Australian diesel version is rated for 2,200 pounds. Obviously, a bigger engine can pull more; but stopping and other handling issues would not be helped by a bigger engine. So, I think it will be reasonably safe to tow with the Rav4; especially if I add breaks to the trailer. I won't be towing two or three times the limit; just a few hundred pounds over. I would prefer a vehicle that is rated for twice the weight that I am towing; but that may not be feasible. Thanks for all of the input so far. I would still be interested in hearing more from people who have towed a similar sized boat with the same or similar vehicle. I am also considering other options, such having someone take over the vehicle and the loan, which would probably cost me, but may cost less than returning to the dealer. But I am still contemplating towing with the Rav4.
  10. Well, I guess a win is a win; regardless of how ugly it is.
  11. Wow! That changed fast. Went down stairs to grab something eat and the leafs score four goals before I get back.
  12. I don't think the quake would cause a significant change in weather. The link mentions a land mark moving eight feet. How much colder does it get if you are eight feet further north? We have had significant changes in the weather. That could certainly make a difference. I wouldn't surprise me if it freezes later this year due to the hot summer. The larger the lake, the longer it will retain the summer heat.
  13. The problem is that there is loan on the Rav4 that is way higher than what I could get for a trade in. If the loan and vehicle values were close, I would just get rid of the Rav4 and keep the Jimmy that has plenty of capacity to tow my boat.
  14. Thanks, would you happen to have a ball park cost of installing brakes on a trailer? Am I looking at hundreds, or thousands?
  15. And all three goals (including the shootout) last night were from their rookies.
  16. Does anyone have any experience towing with a four cylinder Rav4? I currently have a 2015 Rav4 and 2005 GMC Jimmy; but I need to reduce that to just one vehicle in the near future. I would rather keep the Jimmy; but, it may not make financial sense. I have a 16' Princecraft with a 50hp Merc 2 stroke on it. It's not too heavy but it will exceed the 1,500 pound towing capacity what all of the gear is included. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience towing with this vehicle.
  17. Are you saying that you bought a GoPro branded headset; but Amazon has a different brand of accessory for less money? If that is the case, I think the chance of them price matching is pretty close to zero.
  18. Yes, it does. If they didn't want to keep him around, they wouldn't have offered him an extension. Remember, a two year extension means that you are keeping him for another three years. The $17.2 qualifying offer is made to secure a draft choice if the player signs with another team. If has little if anything to do with the negotiating process. If he wanted to finish his career with the Jays, then he should have accepted their offer; which was better than the offer he ended up getting from any of the other teams.
  19. Re: "I was under the impression that players are rewarded for their performance."- He was rewarded with an $80 million contract with an option to bring it up $100 million. Unfortunately, he turned it down. Re: "When the Jays offered the $80 mil 4 year deal to EE after the fact, it was just to cover their own butts to give the appearance that "oh we tried...- Seriously??? No other teams offered him that much. Why would they offer above market value if they only wanted to give the appearance of trying to keep him. Pearce can play first, second, outfield, and perhaps some other positions as well. He doesn't have a huge contract by baseball standards (I think he's getting $12 over two years). I don't think that he is stopping them from signing other players; they can definitely find a place for Pearce, even if it's a backup role.
  20. Hindsight is 20/20. What if Edwin had signed with a different team and Morales and Pearce signed while they were waiting on Edwin to test the market. It's easy to say now that they should have waited for Edwin to make up his mind; but that could have losing Edwin and losing any chances of signing replacements. It's also easy to say that they should have taken care of this a year ago. What would it have cost to sign him before the year started? Maybe the tried and it was Edwin who wouldn't sign. After all, he turned down and initial offer of $80 million over four years. And what if it was Edwin instead of Jose who had struggled with injuries last season? Then, you would be dumping all over the Jays for re-signing him early. Criticizing decisions after the fact is a lot easier than making them at the time.
  21. A contract requires agreement from both sides. The best offer EE got was from the Jays ($80 over four years). He wanted $125 over 5 years. When he realized that nobody was going to meet his asking price, he tried to sign with the Jays. Unfortunately, they had signed a couple of players that could cover 1st base/DH; so they were no longer willing to pay him $20 per year. Right now, the jays need help in the bullpen and the outfield a lot more than they need a fourth guy who can play first base.
  22. It's official now; Encarnacion is gone. He has signed with Cleveland. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/sources-edwin-encarnacion-indians-agree-to-60-million-deal-015622728.html
  23. But don't you need to carry a paper license in addition to your card when you opt for a single year license? With a three year license, all you need is the card. That's worth paying up front to me. Plus, if the price increases during those three years, I don't have to pay the new price.
  24. 2 feet of snow in Newfoundland https://www.facebook.com/heartofnewfoundlandkennywinsor/photos/a.491673491002381.1073741830.437446003091797/667544390081956/?type=3&theater
  25. Thanks, this should give me a few more fishable days on Lake O this summer
