Sweet! I know alot of farmers in the area, I can at least ask around. and lol@DanC's comment. I actually enjoy mowing my lawn though When you got 6 kids thats 3 hours of a day that I have to myself, lol.
-
I once lost a rod/reel. A member of this board snagged it about 3 months later... The reel was crap, but my son got his rod back . Thanks again Limeyangler.... hahahaha

Going to the States is an option, I live 400 yards from the U.S. Border. I'm also in the middle of a farming community, so that may be an option as well

thanks for the responses everyone. BB, I might have to look at your suggestions. I think for now, I'm going to use some weed-b-gone once or twice just for cosmetic purposes, and keep the kids off the lawn for a few days. I found one with iron as the ingredient, but I need to look into abit more. Crappy thing is, we share a yard with like 6 other houses, its sort of an open field in the back, so were kinda damned regardless, cause they still have dandelions. Overall Im gonna try to improve my grass, I think thats the best long term solution. Get some corn gluten and just keep feeding it, cutting it, and watering it. My darned obsessive compulsiveness is gonna make this tough on me, lol. I could spend the next year digging them all out by hand and becoming obsessed with my lawn, lol

I'm sure I'm not the only board member here that likes to have a nice lawn, so I'm looking for some input. This year we had a huge bloom of dandelion in our yard, and we've never previously had them other then a few. Whats the best way to get rid of them without harming the lawn??? I should mention I have kids and ones just a lil toddler, loves rolling around in the grass. We also have dogs. So I don't want to use a bunch of super chemicals all over causing health issues. Any thoughts/help are always appreciated

Remember my comment about a show involving your adventures??? I'm dead serious, thats it right there. I've never been that entertained from a report, ever. Thank you very kindly, please do that again. I'll post my footage in return, although it will pale in comparison. Well done sir, super enjoyable -
Congrats, beauty of an 'eye!!!!

Bwahahaha, classic Dana comment! Not so elusive now is it?

Accidentaly hooking yourself or someone else

When I was a youngin around 8 years old, my Dad and his friend were trolling harnesses on a small lake for walleye. At that age I had no clue as to what I was doing (not really any better today, lol). Somehow, my line never even hit the water. After hours and hours, I had this burning sensation in my armpit, and I kept fiddling with it. My Dad asks to take a look, and the hook was imbedded into my armpit???? I don't recall how he got it out? and I probably don't want to know . Around age 22, me and two friends found ourselves stranded way up in the north arm of Rainy Lake. During a shorefish my buddy mishandled a decent size pike and it shook off, the treble hook went in deep into the web of his thumb. No other choice but to "punch" it through. After a few shots of the hard stuff, I nodded to my other buddy, and I punched him in the opposite arm. While he was distracted my other friend pulled the hook through. We cut the barb off and it slid out easily. He still tells of his warrior tale today, lol. Thats it for me thank goodness. But I will say my glasses have been hit by others casting in the boat, numerous times. I always, always have my glasses on. Accidents happen, and heaven forbid anyone has a treble hook go through and into an eye -
I Couldn't say it any better then MM. Welcome back

Thats always much appreciated, at least by myself. I post alot, because I like to be an active member on a great forum. I Take time in my reports too. Alot of pics I do take are strictly for this board, I would have never taken them if I wasn't planning a report. Everything here is good IMO. The is ebb and flow. Some things are good, some are bad, but it all equals out. I'm glad to be a member here, and I appreciate the people that take time to post reports. The spammers are noticeable, I view the posts but generally ignore them. No big deal. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the members here that do post reports. Even though I'm in a totally different area then most on board here, I look forward to the reports. It doesn't help me much with fishing, but it sure motivates me and fills time. Some really great anglers on this board, great people, great advice etc. THANKS MEMBERS, I always appreciate your time

So cool! Thats happened to almost everyone at some point, supper friggin cool you captured it!!!!!
-
Good luck out on the water today MM! I'm sure you'll do just fine
-
That made me laugh because about 10 years ago I sat on one of those chairs near the edge of a deck 10ft off the ground, friggin thing broke and I fell backwards off the deck and landed on the back of my neck. Thank god I landed in their garden and not on cement. An hour or so later though it was pretty funny, good times...

What's your Favorite Meal When in The Bush
manitoubass2 replied to Homer Is King's topic in General Discussion
In our neck of the woods, thats fry bread, and its amazing on its own or with anything else for that matter. Even dipped in beans its great. The cats though is slicing them in half and making bacon and eggers with them! mmmmmmm. Bannock is cooked in an oven or just over an open fire, looks sorta like a large square loaf of bread. But its also delicious, not quite fry bread good though. Were having both for my sons 7th b-day this weekend, down at the river (not really camping, lol, but in nature nonetheless) -
Saweet! Thats an awesome report man. Looks like you guys had a blast!!!! Lakers are very nice, and that 35" pike looks alot bigger for sure, super fat too. Great pics man, thanks for sharing. (P.S. I read the whole report)

lol, yeah, some of the things are a little overboard. On that same episode he mentioned that giant catfish could be positioned below the damn gorging on dead humans, or something like that anyhow. Made me laugh... My kids are all "catfish eat humans dad???" I generally just take his word on all these exotic fish, because, well I don't know any better, lol. That is until he started chasing a 10ft Pike,

You'll be fine. Just allow yourself more time on the water to adjust things and get used to the settings.
-
Can you adjust the sensitivity with your model? If depth is what your after you should be just fine

I really liked the Nile Perch show too. I don't see him as world class either. No approach or technique I've seen him use has impressed me, nor made me believe hes a tactical skilled angler. His persistence may be world class though, I'll give him that. I think the "world class angler" really just comes from millions of fans of the show that really know nothing about angling, or little about it. Again, I tune in and watch, and enjoy the show, so he's doing something(s) right!
-
lol, maybe, maybe not. Depends on a few factors. Maybe it's a perfect unit for how you fish/where you fish? Learn it, get out there and use it, and maybe you'll love it. If not, next time maybe you'll do abit of research first and make a better decision. If it's great, then thats awesome! If it sucks, at least your not out thousands of dollers! Good luck!
-
Gar maybe??? Be interesting to watch the upcoming show! I'm sure he'll be fishing some other lakes nearby in the U.S. as well.
-
Is it just the Lowrance Mark 5X? Is it the pro model or the DSI model? I'd look at reviews on basspro or cabelas, I'm sure there are reviews at both.

Thats too funny Simon! When I'm on the shore by myself, I'm singing "signed sealed delivered" or "help from my friends"!!!! haha, must be us foreigners living up in NW Ontario??? Nice slabs bro, I got some pics coming up to make you jealous as well lol. (FYI, prefish walleye, lower Manitou trout, NW Bay crappie) I'm saving up dooood!!!!!!
