She doesn't want a 16 ft. Probably a 14 ft is as big as she will go.

I had heard years ago that the Coleman's were scows so have avoided them. Looking for a 12 ft for my wife to paddle alone. We have a 17 ft Misty River already but too heavy for her to launch by herself.

Thanks for the reply.

Doing some research on small canoes and came across this thread. A question for those who say the Sportspal doesn't paddle well - How do you mean that? Do you referring to square stern models or all Sportspals? (Square stern canoes all have the same issue of not paddling well).

Great video and nice trick lowering the camera down with the Aqua Vue -
I have had a few hooks stuck in me over the years. The worst incident resulted in the scar in the photo. I had caught a large pike which I was holding in one hand while attempting to remove the Canadian Wiggler with the other. It started thrashing and I ended up with one of the hooks buried in my hand. The whole hook was in right up around the bend and the point and barb were deep in my hand. There was no way I was going to be able to get that hook out myself and the fish was still thrashing. I had a 12 lb fish attached to a hook that was embedded in my hand. All I could do was snip the hook off and since it was so deep, when I cut it right where the 3 hooks in the treble all come together there was only about 1/4 inch of the hook sticking out of my hand. After a 3 hour wait in the hospital my hand had swelled up and the hook had completely disappeared in my hand. The only choice the Dr. had was to cut it out. I was advised to never cut off a hook and to come in with the whole lure attached. That wasn't really an option in my case because of the thrashing pike nailed to my left hand. The best option t the time was to get him off me as quick as possible.

Closure of the Experimental Lakes Area and the Gutting of DFO
rufus replied to rufus's topic in General Discussion
Great! I hope everyone wrote letters or emailed - if not, consider my post a reminder -
We all like fishing and the quality of our sport depends on the quality of the water the fish live in. The feds are closing the Experimental Lakes Area in addition to gutting the DFO. If you haven't heard about this, here is some info. http://www.lowdpoa.c...tal-lakes-area/ http://www.businessr...second-round-in http://www.winnipegf...-154975805.html We can make a difference if we write the minister responsible, the Kenora MP, plus our local MP and let them know we do not agree with this decision. Here is the Minister's address and the Kenora MP's address: Minister of Fisheries & Oceans Keith Ashfield Room 107 House of Commons Confederation Building Ottawa K1A 0A6 Email: [email protected] Greg Rickford MP House of Commons Suite 159 East Block Ottawa K1A 0A6 Email: [email protected]

Very nice Simon Crappie are just as tasty as walleye in my opinion - gotta like it!

Rocky in Northwestern Ontario so aluminum outnumbers fiberglass 100 to 1 around here it seems. If I had a fiberglass boat I would never again have a shore lunch

What's your Favorite Meal When in The Bush
rufus replied to Homer Is King's topic in General Discussion
I should add that eggs keep well for a couple of days burried deep in the pack to keep cool and bread is light and can be packed in a tupperware to keep from getting squished. Bring along one of those folding campstove toasters and you are all set for a breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast for the first couple of days anyways! You gotta like that. -
What's your Favorite Meal When in The Bush

I agree totally. Can't go wrong with bacon. Also, pancake mix which just needs water added. On canoe trips I used to bring Idahoan Hash Browns (dehydrated) which weighed nothing and were delicious. Great with the fried walleye! Can't get them any more around here but have seen them in the states. Don't forget the bannock mix either! -
It was just like watchin' ole Billy Smith writhing around on the ice! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Smith_(ice_hockey)

Itis my understanding that 4 strokes need to burn premium gas because premium does not contain ethanol and ethanol is said to be bad for 4 strokes. Marinas that don't sell premium recommend Seafoam be used with regular gas. I am guessing it is supposed to counteract the ethanol?

Fishermen rescued from ice floe on western Lake of the Woods
rufus replied to rufus's topic in General Discussion
One of the rescued fisherman is quoted as saying that they are used to being stranded on ice flows. Happens all the time back home in Wisconsin. Guys are getting rescued every day back home. -
Fishermen rescued from ice floe on western Lake of the Woods
rufus replied to rufus's topic in General Discussion
The big controversy is should they be charged the cost of their rescue considering that they were warned to stay off the ice in the first place. Personally, I think they should. What do you think? -
I have a 2011 F150 4x4 with the 8 ft box and have not noticed anything.

Great idea - looks delicious. I am salivating!

I have an Eagle Claw glass spinning rod that I bought in the mid '70's. It looks just like yours only for spinning reels. I still use it every year as my drop shot rod and catch the occasional accidental large pike with it. Not bad for a rod that is about 35 years old! Enjoy your rod

The Vancouver game should be a great game. I know the tickets were like gold last fall already. Lots of ex Winnipeggers in Vancouver to cheer them on.
