  1. To me the issue is the Ontario government forcing hardships on people far is excess of what they have to. The Paris agreement set targets for emission reductions. All Ontario has to do is meet their share of Canada's targets. They chose to make reductions that FAR exceed what they need to. By a LOT.
  2. You offered a false choice. Black / white thinking. I responded appropriately. Let's not pretend otherwise.
  3. I suggest you re-read my response as it said nothing about global warming or climate change. It applies to air pollution - and Wynne's "blogger mommy" solution. It is not an A or B choice as you suggest.
  4. Wynne's "do something" unfortunately is to offer up the people of Ontario for sacrificial immolation much like a mother putting her family on a starvation diet hoping it helps solve the obesity problem in western societies.
  5. Sure there is. Costs, taxes, and relative wealth are different all over the world. The world situation is not Ontario's situation so why deliberately create hardship in Ontario?
  6. Ontario taxpayers are not shouldering the $2.6 trillion dollar cost. They are however paying highly for a mostly symbolic reduction gesture.
  7. Manitoba thanks you. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/analysis/manitoba-will-benefit-fromontarios-climate-policy-382111891.html "Manitoba will soon see its first wave of climate-change refugees. People and industry will move, not because of rising sea levels or expanding deserts, but because of spiralling energy costs and soaring taxes."
  8. Only in your dreams. Please name a successful country that accepts no imports.
  9. And #3 - you can't export unless you accept imports.
  10. Sure. We can become a small poor socialist commune that outsources nothing like North Korea. There isn't the population in Canada to support industry that can't export.
  11. Sure. Look at Venezuela. It has almost double the oil reserves that Canada has. Look how rich they are.
  12. Some people believe Commies are hiding under their bed and some believe CEOs are. Those two groups will never agree on anything. The silent majority is more thoughtful regardless whether the first two groups think they are dumb sheep. Look at the issues rather than resorting to the biases of your parents.
  13. Well if you hate big business then you are probably not voting or voting for the Big Union party.
  14. Omnibus bills are not a Harper invention. Chretien made it into a science. Martin continued it. Harper followed suit. To say that Harper is unique and these bills are somehow subverting democracy is ridiculous.
  15. Crappie is excellent. Equal to walleye if not better. I eat a few bass and pike every year too. They need to be fresh however. Walleye will keep for a while in the freezer but pike and bass lose a lot once frozen. Crappie never makes it the freezer
  16. Long Gun Registry? In Quebec Mulcair says he will revive the long gun registry. In Thunder Bay recently he says not. I am sick of this guy already.
  17. So far Mulcair and the NDP have had a free ride with the media not paying any attention to their methods and their platform. I get that some people hate Harper because, well, seems like everybody else is doing it. Why on earth would you want to vote in an NDP government who say one thing in Quebec and the opposite in the rest of Canada? Didn't we learn how frustrating that was under the Liberals? We are talking about the Energy East Pipeline for one. They are all for it when talking in western Canada. In Ontario they are for building a $10 billion dollar refinery in Sarnia to process Alberta oil sands oil delivered through the pipeline. In Quebec they are against it. How about their promise to make it easier for Quebec to separate from Canada? This doesn't bother anyone? How about their own War On Science - their luddite views on GMO? You want this governing a modern country? What about their views on TFSA's and CPP? Their views show a complete lack of understanding of how lower income people save for retirement and save for the futures of their families. You really want this?
  18. I always use worms on a drop shot. Don't lift the weight off the bottom. Just let it sit on semi-slack line so the walleye can easily suck it in and still give it a bit of a jiggle every now and then.
  19. It never gets old. Canadian Wiggler. I like the "updated" one with the hammered silver pattern and rattles inside. Great for walleye and pike and even muskie
  20. Double tens are extremely popular in the area. One of the reasons I bought my Revo Toro Winch is because you can throw double tens all day long and reeling them in not tiring at all. That is what the winch was designed for - reeling in big lures that generate a lot of resistance.
  21. Not the rocket but I have the Revo Toro Winch and it works well for me.
  22. They have a good selection of Musky Rods (I have bought one there) and have Shimano reels.
  23. Go to Figure 8 Baits in Kenora and ask them. They guide as well as sell Muskie equipment and will fix you up within your budget.
  24. I am using 130 lb Seaguar Big Game. No danger of a bite through. Even with line that thick the canoeman loop is easy to tie.
