  1. I've been there! Great place with lots of selection. I picked up a Worm Warehouse t-shirt when I was there.
  2. Nice walleye!!! Can't believe the great weather this year.
  3. Would be better with a heavy fluorocarbon leader.
  4. I don't mind winter, I just can't get excited about ice fishing anymore. It's too stationary and eventually - boring. No wonder people drink heavily when they ice fish. I prefer fishing the rivers for steelhead (this fall especially) and fishing from a boat, at least I get to cast.
  5. I've found that a series of blowtorches duct-taped around the gunnel of the boat has worked well for me in situations like that. Let me know how it goes!
  6. Wow! Nice first boat. Maybe see you on the water next year. Where do you fish?
  7. I remember years ago when most huts on Lake Simcoe were heated with oil/drip stoves. Horrible stinky dangerous things. Many huts burned up using those.
  8. A small house on the ice!
  9. I just re-read your original post. 4 inch wide runners? wow. The pipe should still work but you'll need a larger diameter.
  10. 4 inch pvc pipe cut in half lengthways and then countersink screws into the runners. Heat the fronts and bend to the shape of the ski. For me it was the cheapest way to go and would slide easily.
  11. Another version - In a baby food jar partly filled with roe, take a wooden or paper match and place it in the roe so it stands up by itself (head up of course). Light the head of the match and screw the lid on before it goes out. When done correctly, you'll hear a pop the next time it's opened.
  12. The park launch closes around mid October.
  13. It's a very nice looking reel. Reminds me of my old Stanton. A couple of questions if you don't mind - are the holes on the side big enough to stick your finger in to retrieve line? Is the reel seat made of plastic or metal?
  14. Thanks for that - two of my favourites. I was lucky enough to see 'The Musical Box' perform the SEBTP tour. It was fantastic.
  15. I really like your perch paintjob in pic #5. A lot of people making baits get that totally wrong, even the big makers have stupid perch colours. Nice work!
  16. I remember that! Still have the vinyl. Lately he's been doing this - http://youtu.be/WMY3wiY_Uy0
  17. What am I listening to? This - http://www.youtube.c...h?v=S6ZThzaR1X4
  18. Nevermind, I just went through the checkout to see what it would be. $300 total for bibs and jacket. $20 was for shipping and $70 was for tax. A good deal but still to much for me.
  19. Can I ask what your total was incl shipping and duty? I'm thinking of getting this deal.
  20. No,it won't. But Musky reproducing in lake Simcoe? I'm going to remain positive and say yes it will happen.
  21. I agree that there is shoreline damage as more and more development comes to the lake. I'm hoping these fish will use the numerous mid-lake shoals and weed beds to spawn. I've lived beside and fished this lake my entire life and I know it quite well. I think the large pike I've caught in the Virginia beach area are spawning in deeper, rockier water than the pike in Cooks Bay. To me it seems like there is still some usable habitat for these fish.
  22. I can see your point and this is a good debate. But the GB strain has never been tried in Simcoe has it? You are comparing the spawning habitat of Lakers and whitefish to that of musky.
  23. I agree 100%. More walleye in Simcoe would be awesome! How do we start a walleye stocking program?
  24. I must respectfully disagree with you. If the habitat in Simcoe is healthy enough to support a reproducing pike population (which I believe it is) then musky will be able to survive and reproduce also.
