  1. do they ship rods in protective packaging?
  2. Bill M... With American Legacy Fishing, do you ever get hit with duty?
  3. $1600 isn't a big fine if you consider he may be selling the fish and making money on it as others have suggested. I agree though, some of the suggested punishments are over the top.
  4. The 3 year license suspension can't be much of a deterrant either. If he wasn't afraid to keep 32 fish over his limit, he won't be afraid to continue to fish without a license,
  5. I just got the Everstart's at walmart as well. Price is good, comparable to the Kirkland brand in price.
  6. I've been to this place many times, and the fishing for Pike, Bass, Musky, and Walleye are all great, never been skunked with any of those species on any trip I've taken there. http://www.ontariofishingcamp.net/ Cottages are nice, location is great. It's the upper French where Lake Nipissing and the French meet, so there are both river fishing and main lake opportunities.
  7. Hello everyone, I am looking to do 2 seperate fishing trips this summer, one to Quinte (early-mid september) and Tri-Lakes in either late July or early August. Does anyone know of any places that have good accomodations and will do per day rentals vs. an entire week? I'm only looking to go to each place on a Thurs-Sun trip. For the Quinte trip, I'm looking to stay in the Belleville/Trenton/Deseronto area and for Tri-Lakes, I have no preference right now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  8. Rizzo, how were the water levels leaving marine park? I know they dredged, but on the way to XE2 I know there were some shallow spots before that might be even shallower now.... Any sandbars on the way out to XE2 that might have been under water previously?
  9. usually have had good luck for early season pike in middlegrounds (between bass haven and marine park), but have caught them out around XE2 and XE4 as well. Middlegrounds might be unaccessable with the low water levels, its only a few feet deep at the best of times. XE2 and XE4 are good for pike too, about 8-10' deep with good weed growth.
  10. you can use this map of LSC... XE2 is at N42o25.609 W82o27.044 right off the end of Mitchell's point. http://www.marinecruiser.com/chart.html
  11. You mentioned that you have a 24v system... Are both batteries draining or just one? I was told that both batteries on a 24v system should drain equally if the system is working properly, in other words if your motor stops working, both your batteries should be equally drained/dead. Im actually having the same issue right now with my trolling motor, happened this past weekend on Balsam too, and it was only one of my batteries that died friday, fully charged it over night, and within 5 hours I had no juice left, and it was the same battery that died. One battery was completely dead, the other had 3/4 charge left.
  12. The best use for the tungsten I agree is when punching mats. It has a much smaller profile with the same weight as lead... really helps get through the mat much easier.
  13. I have not found too much difference in them, I think the sensitivity of your line and rod are more important when drop shotting anyways. I certainly cannot justify the additional cost when you could go through a few packages on Erie getting hung up on bottom.
  14. As others have mentioned here, you will get some great advice from people. One tip I can offer is to understand the regulations, because there is one way to lose respect on this board fast, and that is to suggest you might be targeting a fish that is out of season, not to mention it could make you lighter in the pocket. As far as equipment goes, look on the classifieds here or kijiji for someone selling some entry level gear you may be able to afford. I'm not really familiar with the Whitby area for fishing, but you will read of people catching fish near the power plant in pickering, or Ashbridges bay, and even down near humberwood park in the West end. As you advance, there are clubs you can join that have like minded individuals who can help grow your experience, and continue to teach you new things. Good luck.
  15. I have 2 of these that I use to charge my batterieson the boat. I have had zero issue with them. I am sure there are better out there but it does the trick. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/Batteries/BatteryChargers/PRD~0111504P/MotoMaster+12%2B2A++Automatic+Battery+Charger+with+75A+Engine.jsp?locale=en
  16. Hello Does anyone know where you can buy the material used to make rod gloves? I dont want to use it for that, i want to use it to wrap my cords used for my gps on the boat. Is there something better to use ( i dont want to use heat wrap that is what i am replacing) Thanks in advance
  17. I saw this same thing on another forum once, and alot of people seem to be recommending a TMC-1 attachment. http://www.bbcboards.net/lowrance-garmin-sonar-gps/250494-tmc-1-got-rid-my-interference.html
  18. Look at joining a local club. I got my start in tournaments a few years ago in the CBAF, its really cheap to enter tournaments, and if you don't have a boat you get paired up with someone. You fish all kinds of lakes, and for a non-boater, the fee is only $100 ($40 to enter the tournament, $60 for the non-boater fee). If you are a boater, the $60 that the non-boater pays covers your entry. There are also regular meetings which you learn and talk to some of the best anglers in Ontario who come and do guest speaking. Its alot of fun and the people are great, always willing to help.
  19. A white spinnerbait is a good choice for the SM bass and the pike. Get yourself some crankbaits for all 3 of those species. Live target, strike king, any of them are good. As mentioned, husky jerks are good too. I never leave home without a spinner bait, and I catch all kinds of SM bass and pike. I'm not a great walleye fisherman so I'll leave that advice to someone else! lol
  20. I also prefer the closed eye spinnerbaits. Contrary to what some others have said, I find it easier to tune. I've tried the R-bend and found when a big smallie grabbed it, if the line moved much I would lose more fish as a result, but that was just personal observation. I also make my own spinnerbaits and I'd say that closed eye, 1/2 oz is most popular for bass fishing.
  21. I believe fishing world in Hamilton has some good stock on Dobyns rods that you can see at a store, check out their website and give the store a call just to make sure.
  22. My vote is also for either the Shimano Curado 200E7 (7:1 gear ratio), or the new shimano chronarch 200E7 (basically the same reel as the old 200E curados)... I have 7 of the curados and do alot of slop fishing, frogs and flipping, and NEVER had a problem getting 4's and 5's out of the grass, so as someone mentioned earlier, I wouldn't worry too much about the drag. As you mentioned, you already picked out a rod, so when you go buy a reel, take the rod with you and try potential reels out on it, see how it feels, because at the end of the day, you have to be flipping with it all day and an unbalanced setup won't be fun. Good luck
  23. I've done Kijiji also, and had no issues. You can do yourself a favour when using Kijiji and ask the right questions. If you are a good judge of character you can usually smell out a fake. If you find a seller who may be local (lots of Toronto residents own Buffalo seasons tickets), try to meet up with them to get the tickets, if they are unwilling, probably not worth your time. If not local, talk on the phone, ask lots of questions, and if they are season ticket holders, they'll be able to mail you the actual tickets, thus eliminating any risk they are fake. Best is to try and meet in person though when dealing Kijiji. That said, I've bought Flames tickets on Kijiji and flew out there to see the game with no issues at all. Good luck.
