  1. According to Shimano website, it has a limited lifetime warranty on it, same as the compre and the crucial lines. I would have liked a compre as well, unfortunately to get a 7'6" heavy you have to go into the musky line of rods.
  2. Thanks everyone for the feedback.... It's a gift for my brother so it sounds like he won't be disappointed.
  3. Thanks guys, One other question... I noticed that the clarus heavy is only rated for max 40lb power pro, compared to the crucial which will handl 65lb power pro.... Is this just due to different blank material? I'd like to run 65lb powerpro on it.
  4. Hi Everyone, I am looking to get a 7'6 rod that I can use for both frog fishing and jig fishing in heavier cover for my brother. I'm looking in the $90 price range and came across the shimano clarus 7'6 Heavy action, seems I can get it for about $89.99. I like the fact that the warranty is good on it, and it seems like a relatively solid rod that can be used for the purposes I listed. Anyone use this rod before? Looking for feedback before purchasing. Thanks
  5. Any shore opportunities anywhere for the trout at this time of year?
  6. Thanks Stoty.... I'm assuming its 29.99 per map? for example, inland lakes would be 29.00 and great lakes would be anothr $29.00? Can you mark points and transfer them to your GPS somehow, or mark routes etc? or is this viewing only to help search a lake before getting out there?
  7. Hi, I was thinking about buying the Navionics Nav Planner 2 to view my GPS chips on the computer. I believe it is around $150. Anyone have this? Is it worth the money? Thanks in advance.
  8. You are exactly right Kickingfrog.... I've had expressview a long time and that is easily done.
  9. I had a snapping turtle take my spinner bait also, while it was moving.
  10. He did it with a huge bag of fish too.... Shattered the record, over 69lbs.
  11. Dave has them doing the wave at the pre weigh in show, LOL....
  12. I prefer the columbia omni tech pants. While they are not the bib style, they are very comfortable, light weight and can slip on over any pant you are wearing if the rain comes quick. The pockets are open meaning they will go through to the pant underneath so you can get at the pockets of what you were wearing before the rain pants. You can get those for around $40. http://www.basspro.com/Columbia-Thunderstorm-II-Rain-Pants-for-Men/product/103920/-1639736 you can get the matching jacket for around $60 to $70 so it is almost in the price range you have mentioned. http://www.basspro.com/Columbia-Watertight-Rain-Jackets-for-Men/product/10204961/-1786183 I use these and I can fish all day when it rains and not sweat underneath in the heat of the summer.
  13. watching right now online, Dave is doing a good job.
  14. Try this, If you call the 1-800 number on the back of your rewards card you can tell them you want your points to be valid for a year, otherwise I believe you have to use them within 6 months or they expire. I did that and there were no questions asked, and went right to a live person.
  15. I am curious to know if anyone uses these and do they actually work and not leak? http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/tools-equipment/classics/bait-management-center-6-container Thanks
  16. If you can afford about $200 more, I'd recommend the HDS-5 (I have the 7 and love it).... For 550 though you can get a very nice unit in the Elite 5 from Lowrance that has basic mapping abilities. I recomment going to RadioWorld if you can, they have all units on display, and the staff are extremely helpful. Bought my HDS-7 there. http://radioworld.ca/index.php?cPath=4_95&filter_id=9
  17. Also, if you are planning on becoming a regular out there, you can sign up for the message board on the bass haven website and people post there all the time the ice conditions and what they are catching.
  18. Yeah this was just my opinion, a bit sour I guess at the result, but we will be there again next year. We do have the best program and it will boost others and make the competition better. Sorry to have hit a nerve with some people, it was just my opinion.
  19. I absolutely agree they earned it, and Canada melted down, and it will go down as another good game in the rival that is Canada vs. Russia. We'll be back there next year, hopefully with a different colour around their necks. Should be a fair amount of returning players.
  20. I might be old school when it comes to the game of hockey, but what happened to the respect for your opponent? To me, grabbing every camera in sight and screaming something into it, and then receiving the trophy and immediately parading it past the Canadians is not respect for your opponent. I understand there is a certain level of excitement, but for a while there it could have gone the other way. I hope the returning players remember that for next year, it'll serve as extra motivation to return to glory on home soil.
  21. The HDS units are great and get my vote too, although they are a bit more than your price range, but IMO are well worth the money. |I have the HDS 7 and I want another one. Radioworld is a good place to look, the prices are usually good. On their website the HDS 5 is currently listed at 699.00, and if you are going to the Toronto boat show they have a booth and usually have really good show deals. I've seen the Elite 5 as well, and they look very crisp and have a good image also. For $100 more though, i'm getting the HDS 5 if I had to choose.... Check out their website: http://radioworld.ca/index.php?cPath=4_95&filter_id=9
  22. Great show, love that lake. I fish lake st. clair quite a bit, mostly for Bass, and fish Muskie late fall, but may try in the summer now after seeing the size of some of those. Having Pete Maina on board definately helps. Now on to the main event, Canada vs. Russia..... I predict another beating like game 1 Good luck boys
  23. I recommend a sharp aquos LCD TV.... I've had my 42" now for 4 years and it still works as it did the day I bought it (knock on wood). Costco has them at a pretty good deal depending on your price range: 55" are 1699.00 46" are 1349.00 or 999.00 depending on how many HDMI ports you want (4 vs. 3 respectively) you can check out the prices online and all the features. These are also the "newer" technology, meaning LED LCD tv vs. traditional LCD. Future shop has the step up from this, the quattron model, which is about $300 difference higher than what I've listed. Good luck
  24. I bought some 1/2 ounce and 3/4 ounce BPS enticer jigs with matching strike king rage chunk (they have the shorter bodies to be used as trailers)..... These jigs have the rattles near the head, but appear to be attached to the hook somehow... Another question, what sizes do you suggest? Can you use these for smallies? I heard football jigs are better for them because they won't get hung up on the rocks, but I suspect you'd have to downsize on these a bit. Thanks again Drew
  25. Hello everyone, I've mentioned on here before that one of the new techniques I want to learn this year is fishing with a Jig for Bass by either flipping or pitching. With the winter now into what seems like the longest stretch, I went out and bought some jigs and some trailers so I can stare at them all winter waiting for opening weekend. When I got them home I tried putting a trailer on one of them just to rig it up, and I couldn't help but notice that the rattles were a bit of a nuisance when it came to rigging the trailer on there. So this begs the question, are rattles necessary when fishing a jig? Do they really attract more fish, or do they just get in the way of rigging the trailer on properly? Thanks in advance for your opinions, depending on the responses, I may be exchanging these jigs this week.
