  1. nuts to Ottawa. Phx with two consecutive shutouts and poised to stay in the top 8...possibly a division win. Mike Smith was an extremely pleasant suprise this year...how can phx continue to find cheap back up goalies, turn them into excellent #1's and the leafs desperately keep trying to mould Goofstavsen as he flops on the ice like a wounded sturgeon?
  2. It was a gorgious day yesterday so I loaded the canoe and got a preview of my summer by finding new trails, new lakes and getting mud on everything. Many of the lakes still have a 3-6" crust on them but some are nearly wide open...it all depends on exposure to sun and wind. This one in particular, we had to walk right through the raspberry bushes and felled trees to get to a launchable spot. As we loaded and lauched, the GF was a bit freaked out but with some positive encouragement and SLOW movements we slipped the canoe off the crust and into the water. You would have thought she was on a big rollercoaster, approaching the apex and about to drop 500meters at 200km/hr. We canoed around with no incident, had fun breaking thin ice and sunning a bit. To get back up we used a previously tied rope to provide us with a little more leverage. Bring on summer.
  3. Weird seasons out that way... it's fall already?
  4. That's one heck of a season recap! Great catches. Welcome to the club... I'm looking forward to reading more about your adventures.
  5. Had the curve, which was great in the 2G north, but I've switched to a bold. I'm not a phone junkie so I'm not the best judge, but So far its good. I don't like that the thumbpad is so close to the touchscreen. I'm always clicking this and that without noticing. Also, on OFC mobile, there is a typing delay so its nearly impossible to type properly... Very annoying actually.
  6. Haha. And the best way clean something like that was to pull out the ol' tiger torch!
  7. Awesome! 'Yak browning must be fun!
  8. The CBC reported that there is still around $150 000 remaining.
  9. You got that seal clubing crap too? Their mailing address is american and the organization has ties in Australia. Bunch of crap. Hopefully my calls and emails to MPs don't give me a biological virus
  10. Not sure, but I don't think you can alter a government document like that. Laminating Is likely considered altering.
  11. Hey Stainer. What area do you fish mostly?
  12. They are no Justin Beber, but I can't get enough of that latest Loverboy song that plays once a day!
  13. Some would say the same about garden tillers and fishermen haha
  14. Thanks Jer, it would be a fun gadget to bring on camping trips. I can't wait to "pimp" my canoe.
  15. The cbc is reporting the budget live right now on the radio... The other stations are playing lady gaga and loverboy.
  16. Argh, don't cast in my mast you stern humper. That's not a jib that's a mainsail...your a jib.
  17. Right on Johnny. I'll shoot you a pm tonight to hash things out. With the Manufacturer being in NBay, I could easily get the hardware, so if I can save on a sail itself that would be great. Joey is gonna have a beech of time casting with that sail in his face
  18. That mount came with the canoe when I bought it, so I should be ok for steering. I hate the foam seats to be honest. What I do now, is I take the bottom part of the foam seat (rip off the backrest) and put a comfy/padded boat seat on top of it. Captain's chair!! I sit a little higher, but it's still stable enough to navigate waves. I should mention, for funny sake, that I found my captains chair on the side of the hwy one early morning
  19. ok, stop waving your flag. You already said this "Queens Park is Provincial, and thus in the hand of the Liberals in the hands of a minority govt. " Your point has been made. I'm against cutting environmental jobs and considerations. I dont' care who does it.
  20. Yup, that's one of the biggest issues at hand. Rally your fellow students around this! Otherwise your environmental expertise will be made useless and redundant in no time. Changes like this do not create jobs, they just shift them to one side or the other; in the MNR's case, makes them disapear altogether.... as if the environment needs less representation.
  21. Comrads? Have you read some of the threads? Not everyone here likes each other just because we have a common interest. It's just a common interest we are here to discuss. The comradary is formed outside of this site, on the lake, imo... trust me what I say that I don't like every fisherman out there and I won't blindly support them Anyway, at this moment, i agree with you, Bob, unless they were charged under the Criminal Code they should not pay. The county of Simcoe is notoriously cheap and penalizing. It doesn't suprise me that they wanted some kind of retribution. $200 is peanuts, and I'm glad they weren't billed for the entire rescue... the precedence that would set would be scary.
  22. 200 is the hourly cost of a small excavator and a triax, not helicopters and rescue boats! Where the heck did they come up with 200
  23. They should organize the santa parade instead... And ride the floats
  24. Yes, that's the one. What's with paddle on the side of the canoe? Is that how its supposed to be setup? Do you think it could be used for serious travel across a lake, or mostly for leisure?
