  5. Nicely written Johnny, i can't believe the amount of fish we pulled in, a definite again spot to hit and i held pretty good with 3 hours sleep .
  6. I suggest everyone here grab a rod and reel and a few rapalas at 12:30 before we go so we all have something to do while we wait in line.
  7. 1500 series reels in my opinion are good for Ultra Light Rods as for the 2500's there good for anything in the 6'6 and 7'0 range med'light to med'heavy rods all depends on your preference.
  8. My condolences to you and your family Lexx.
  9. The weather does play a major factor with trying to figure out patterns just remember we had record rain falls this summer and tons of cold fronts over all the cool summer and high water levels are making it harder to locate fish, you aint the only one that noticed the difference lots of people here do.
  10. They need to get rid of them Asian carp before they make head way into the great lakes or before they end up killing somebody.
  11. Awesome report, looks like you and your wife enjoyed the trip, thanks for sharing and posting up your pics.

  13. Good stuff, seems like the rain brought out a good time to fish
  14. I guess there is a fine line between Ignorance and somebody who knows what they are doing, i seen it before actually i seen the fist fights between float fisherman and others who get in someones space, i guess you did the right thing by leaving.
  15. Have you seen any Crayfish in the waters or up on the shore? also observe closely there should be schools of small bait fish near the shore line "minnows and sticklebacks", I never fished the Don but i heard of resident rainbows and browns around the golf course around the DVP and i also heard that there are specks around give your ultra light a try with some small spinners.
  16. SUP Lucid? Good to see your doing good, Can't wait to see your season report.
  17. Absolutely awesome! Beautiful scenery, Huge and nice looking fish who could ask for anything more, thanks for posting your experience and sharing it with others.
  18. Hit the Trent River in search of some fish yesterday with Johnnybass we got on the water around 6:30 and started hitting weed edges in search of some Largemouth and Smallies we also hoped we can bag some Walleyes but that did not happen, the weather was really cool in the Morning but as the sun started to rise it got really hot, Johnny hits off the first fish of the morning working Drop offs outside the weed lines Shortly after i hook into a largemouth sitting in standing weeds we continued on the same line and Johnny hits another smallie on a top water Bait Than it happens to me AGAIN, I worked a area that had Over Hanging standing weeds with a wacky rig and i nailed a decent largemouth i get her to the boat and i felt confident enough to lift her into the boat since i have 16 pound Stren magnathin line on my reel what happens?? My line snaps "never buying stren line again " so we carry on and at this point i sat and smoked to calm my nerves, we enter a small bay with lots of weeds and johnny nails a Largie and a Smallie we worked for our fish the rest of the day the heat was a major factor we boated so many 1 and 2 pounder i lost count and we moved and tried areas and slop basically just pulled little guys out here and there, we moved back down to the area where we started in the morning working a outside drop off with docks up on shore and i got a hit, Here i go working this fish to the boat and low and behold i can't even count the smallies pursuing this one hooked fish and they were all decent size fish, i wasnt sure at this point if i needed help to net this fish and johnny helps out in doing so, a decent smallie she goes back in the water, i cast and i get another hit this time it's a bigger one i struggled and Johnny's telling me my drag is to loose he's telling me this and at that point it's like planes Flying over my head i should have tightened the drag the fish bulldoged into the weeds i get her out but she spits the hook and the school is gone oh well now its 2 big fish lost in one outing, through out the day we hit fish after fish smallies, rock bass largies, overall the day was great and the weather was hot and it began to feel like summer was finally here cant wait to get out again.
  19. 1/ Koho 2/ Brown Trout 3/ Atlantic 4/ King 5/ Not associated with salmon, carp maybe?
  20. 10 Second Rule or cut your line, what a pathetic topic.
  21. Thanks for the link Dan, i was just doing a little research myself from yesterdays experience's.
  22. I also forgot to mention keep 2 brakes on and make sure you pop out the brake on the opposite pin not side by side.
  23. Hope this helps i have the same set up for light lures and it works Beautifully: Get a 6'6 rod medium action fast If you can pick up a new reel go with the Curado 100 "Nice and small easy to use and palm" 40 pound Power pro or 30pound works great but since you are relatively new to baitcasting i would go with the 40 pound and always adjust your lure to you reel.
  24. That's Johnny's setup, i don't think she lost her tail from spawning it was fresh still bleeding and apparently there are some really huge pike in this lake.
  25. Hooked up with Johnnybass to fish a lake in the Muskoka area the day seemed somewhat promising since the weather reported 15 K winds with Overcast "YEA OK!" it was pretty sunny but the winds felt like 30K the overcast didn't settle in till about 3 o'clock, but on with our report we got out on the water between 6:30 and 7:00 and found a Shoal and worked it for about a hour and i picked up a nice wally shortly after we decided to move on to some promising spots but for some odd reason fish did not hold once again a repeat of our last two trips we pounded a few spots and there was one hook up of a 3 plus pound smallie that johnny lost beside the boat , shortly after i asked johnny if we can move and fish a area that i seen from the boat and off we went and shortly after i get a hit on my tube jig and got bite off "Pike!" So i throw a follow up a spinner bait and she hits it just a little guy we caught a few more smallies and rock bass but nothing decent, we decided to search the lake some more and Johnny had a few more spots in mind and paid off shortly after we got there with some nice smallies and another nice pig 3.12 on the scale after that it got cold again we fished the area for about a hour caught a couple of small fish and moved again this time looking for some largies and i lost a huge smallie at least well over 4 pounds she spat the hook so we continued working the pads and Johnny hooks into a nice largie i also plucked a small one out from under a log but it wasn't photo worthy, we moved on working the same area and i managed a decent smallie Now the tail of a tale, we decided to drag tubes to see if we can get some fish off the bottom we drifted over a spot and i get a huge hit i started realing in and i seen it was a pike and my tube was inhaled i thought for sure she was gonna bite it off so there i am off setting my drag giving her line and shortly after johnny does a great net job and helps me landing this pike, 8 pound test with no leader on a tube i am shocked we boated her The tale of a tail, somebody tell me what was trying to snack on this fish shortly after we started moving again, we worked docks and caught some many little smallies and rock bass i also lost another Pike that spat the hook and johnny caught another smallie The day worked out to be a pretty good day we worked a couple of spots on our way in but the wind and rain prompted us to make our way back sooner, this is our third time out that we both lost a big fish each , it was a numbers day i guess, we caught some decent and alot of small ones and the weather was some what enjoyable i just hope i can get a 5 pound plus Bass before the end of the season maybe next time.
