after wanting to get one for quite some time and recently seeing once again how effective it can be i finally bit the bullet and picked up my first centerpin. i picked up the okuma aventa and a 13' st. croix avid. took thursday off in hopes to break it in and it was quite a successful day. ended up going 6 for 9. heres a few pics

fin bore III best manual auger takes alot less effort the buddy heaters are great but being in a hut alone makes a huge difference because theres no wind the shimano should be good to go but as suggested if it gets stiff check the reel grease and a small sled to pull everything out in will make it alot easier and as drifter mentioned safety gear for early and late season, spud bar and icepics

weird coloration on a rainbow, colour difference was only on the one side

thanks guys, definatly a rush getting a salmon from the kayak. when i pulled the rod out of the holder and set the hook it spun me haha. the lake was like glass all day and i was hoping for maybe a pike or trout on the troll back but i was definatly quite pleased when it turned out to be a salmon.

i work at a tackle shop and have heard great things about both brands but i must admit fenwick hands down is the most returned brand with broken tips and top ends. st croix used to be quite a hassle to deal with warranty and returns but thats no longer the case for us. we take a 20 dollar deposit for shipping and other fees and if we have the rod in stock we will hand you a new one then and there.

thats what i thought haha, all on the same lure. thats lake o for ya though, you never know what you'll catch

after eating my turkey feast earlier in the afternoon i couldn't sit around at home i had to hit the water. tossed the gear in the car and the yak on the roof and off i went. started out on a good note getting one largie on a topwater. worked around a couple areas until i found a hotspot loaded with them. picked off quite a few on different cranks and spinners. decided to troll a crank along a shoreline and on the first pass i hooked into a jumbo perch which shook off at the side of the yak. second pass i hook into something big which starts peeling drag and ends up shaking the hooks too. third times a charm, i make another pass and bam rod hunches over and drag starts peeling out. after a solid fight and getting towed around i managed to get my first salmon from the yak and also realized i need a bigger net cause i couldnt get that thing in it. perfect day on the water capped off with some nice fish. happy thanks giving and enjoy the pics.

best suggestion is grab a copy of the regs from your local tackle shop and keep it in your tackle. you can also find the regs online here http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsFish/Publication/STEL02_163615.html as for lures spinners are a great choice because many species will hit them just remember to swich to a single hook and pinch the barb if those rules apply to that area.

i have a specialist combo too and love it. the sensitivity for jigging helped me alot this year on my few trips out for walleye. i know my local canadian tire sells the combo but its red unlike my older one.

when you launch from the ramp start up your finder and give it a minute or two to get a solid lock before you start moving. other than that and updates i got no suggestions lol.

i believe it only has depth ranges up to 60ft or something of that sort when the other models go much deeper. -
catch and release for bass, pike, and walleye at binbrook. panfish and course fish are allowed but not suggested due to the contamination found in the waters. as for the green stuff on the water surface i'm going to assume algae of some sort? i'm not too sure. but congratz on the pike thats a good size for binbrook

a buddy of mine picked one up a couple weeks ago, he paired it up with an 8' rigger rod with pretty good action. so far its only been christened with one small laker though. snapped a pic to show his boss who thought he was dumb for buying it lol
