  1. Yup.......its a pretty awesome lake....but it can be a real stubborn one too......yesterday the fishing gods were with us. pretty close to the biggest ones iv'e posted......awesome fight they put up! Thanks Thanks...was a blast for sure Thanks Wayne yup love it...next week we will try to get some walleye to play too. Thanks man
  2. Thanks Don....my buddy is still kicking himself for doing what he did.
  3. Hi all, Went for some Lakers and whitefish today with the plan of heading 30kms into the bush afterwards to chase walleye too. The whitefish and trout cooperated and just as we were going to head out to the next lake so we could be there before dark......I lost a whitefish at the hole and before i could shout "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" .......my buddy Cliff's reflexes kicked in and he had his arm down the hole up to his shoulder attempting to get it back......DOH! He spent the next 45 minutes drying out clothes in the shack....we never made it for walleye. We did did get around 20 whities and 2 nice trout. Cliffs trout was 32" long with a 17'girth.......mine was also 17" girth but shorter at 28". Cliff said that was the best fight he had ever had on the ice which made my day as this was the first time i had brought him to this lake....after many stories of how good the fishing can be. Jigs and really tiny minnows got cliff all his fish including the big trout, and i got my whities on crappie tubes and the trout on a 6" dace minnow on a circle hook. All fish in the 36' - 40' FOW range. Next weekend we intend to do the same but make time for walleye again...Cliff promises to stay dry till we achieve that....lol.
  4. Do I even need to defend myself here???
  5. We definitely have been spoiled, when we first moved here this was normal.......the last 3 years have been insane here...in the boat first week of April......+25C in March......no snow till December....crazy weather. Yikes! That will get the ice going down there! We are lucky here....at least there is no wind today....all school buses cancelled though. Very old. Its messing up fishing....thats for sure! Yup...its actually now a balmy -31C at 10am! and nipples like bullets!
  6. Hi all, Just went to let the dog in and noticed our thermometer............................
  7. Saw this posted on a skidoo forum....AWESOME. Here is the trailer from youtube....if you have netflix it is on there. Happy veiwing. http://www.youtube.com/embed/JVYXrhQKUbA
  8. Nice going Tbay.......i tried frank's with walleye last night for the first time...gonna put that %$#$ on everything from now on!
  9. Hi all, saw this on another website i frequent...i thought it was pretty cool. Most times when fishing i will drill lots of holes in a pattern to cover some contours at any given spot. Usually when with buddies, we have a couple drilling holes and someone else following behind clearing slush...usually get most of it out with the auger.....but would this be neat when you had a lot of holes and wanted to clear them fast! http://www.slushcopter.com/Videos.html
  10. Thanks folks, will check out all suggestions. Got all the snowblowing done....now do i wanna head out fishing in minus 28C with a 30kmh wind?....probably....lol.
  11. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can offer a diagnosis. My snowblower has electric start. It makes an electronic whirring sound when i press the button but does not seem to be connecting to the engine....its sounds like something is spinning freely in there but not connected to anything. It will need to warm up a bit before i can turn it over with the pull start.
  12. Morning all....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Was a bit chilly out this morning, wife has always wanted to throw a bucket of water up and turn it to ice...she succeeded. I had to try too...lol...cool...literally! Now i have to go and clear all the snowdrifts then i'm going for some trout. COOL!
  13. Hey chris, I was watching this the other day, gave me a few ideas. It also recommends fishing a little shallower for the big ones.
  14. yeah....but they got rid of the gun registry
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10333211
  16. Awesome lakers and whities...in a boat in January?....love it!
  17. LOL...yeah...you have to be careful and plan ahead so there is no descernable pattern....lol. What i cant stand is people who come to work sick and play the martyr card....go home...maybe there is someone there who actually gives a damn!
  18. That there makes me want to call in sick to work! When you pulled that through the ice i shouted out...."HOLY". Great catch. (u got braid on that reel?)
  19. That sounds awesome.....dunno where you would find one of those....maybe use a spear fishing decoy hollowed out?
  20. How the hell did i miss this post! Awesome job boys. How deep were you using your gopro?....how did you rig it for underwater? Is the marcum better in low light because it has infrared lights on the camera? Fantastic fish too guys....that walleye was a piggy!
  21. Hi all, Wind was ridonkulous all day, lots of snow drifts to snowblow and other assorted chores. Finally wind died down, 2:30pm...hmmmmmm...not long considering nothing packed to go...ahhhh...screw it...just go for an hour....will be nice to get out! In the end 4 fish iced.....3 of them in the first half hour....then one right at the end....got home before dark with 2 in the bag...nice way to spend an hour or so...at least i think so. 70'FOW, jig and minnows.....and 3 split shot and a circle hook with 18" fluro leader on the set rod....set rod had 6"-7" minnows. Not many big fish in this lake (except for the walleye which are humungous and conspicuous by their absence) but always plenty of action with the smaller trout and ling in the winter.
  22. Awesome....i mean...holy crap....AWESOME!
