  1. Welcome aboard KraTTor, great place to hang out.
  2. We'll see Sinker, they said that to me about musky fishing too….caught plenty of musky but don't think i'll ever set out to target one.
  3. Its my hunters Ed. course badge, I took my PAL course (firearms) and i'm all set to hunt minus a gun, some ammo and certain licences and tags, Crappy tire takes care of the first 2 and the post office the latter……been invited duck hunting.
  4. LOL…yeah…..aint got no cash left no mo tho.
  5. VERY NICE…..whats not to like? Just hope you can also stow manually for when the glitchy i-pilot remote goes rangy, or any of the batteries in your system die while out on the water. Agree with others on the price, but would accept one as a gift without hesitation. My five year old son would love this too!
  6. Good stuff Justin, thanks for taking the time to post that. If you=dont mind me asking, what operating system and video editing software do you use?
  7. Fantastic read. Colors on those fish is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
  8. Amazing stuff Drew, do you ever do anything boring???….lol.
  9. I always 'double' fry them (blanch first, let them cool while i coat the fish), definitely comes out better. But to do that and then freeze them is more trouble than its worth when i could just use an ice pack.
  10. I hear ya, the novelty factor of winter has all but worn off now, it was brutal last year. Lots of good memories from this year to get us through….then of course there is always ice fishing and snowmachines! Thanks S! Thanks Blair, that was the first shore lunch I have ever attempted….lol…no drama. Thanks man, Its back to school now for the dude and the evenings are drawing in, so It was great to get us all together on the beach before the snow flies. Thanks man. The food was good except for the fries…lol. I tried to be clever and save on space by using the prepared fries as an ice pack for the cooler. Basically cut the the fries the day before and placed flat in a ziplock bag in water into the freezer. Comes out like a flat freezer block. Great in theory, and it might have just been the potatoes i was using, but when thawed came out like pieces of limp rubber, and were like greasy rubber after cooking……
  11. Hi all, Was a great last weekend before school starts. Finally got the wife and kid in the boat for a trip to Lac Seul. We had planned to camp out on an island in the tent for three days but the weather scuppered those plans. We opted for just a day trip on Saturday, but left by 7am so we could make the most of it. Jack and me have developed quite the routine for our trips to Lac Seul, and he was super pumped to show and tell mum all about it! This summer has been awesome in terms of time spent in the outdoors with my little dude. I always wanted him to love it as much as I do and for now that seems to be the case. The Lac Seul routine is pretty cool and we added a few extra things to it this time which made for an action packed day that started with…………... STOCKING THE COOLER UP WITH FRESH SPRING WATER A FRESH, HIGH FIBRE, LOW FAT ORGANIC BREAKFAST OF DEW CHILLED, WILD BLUEBERRIES…NOM….NOM….NOM. LUNCH WAS GATHERED IN NEAR RECORD TIME WITH THREE COMPETENT ANGLERS IN A BOAT ON THE FISH FACTORY THAT IS LAC SEUL THEN BACK TO BASE CAMP TO PREPARE LUNCH………. …….AND GO FOR A SWIM ……..AND COLLECT SOME COOL LAKE STUFF FEAST ON FRESH WALLEYE ………….. WALK OFF A FEW EXTRA CALORIES GOT TOTALLY TUBULAR DUDE! ……..AND THEN ENDED THE DAY WITH ANOTHER FISHING SESSION TOO MUCH FRESH AIR……LOL. SOME VIDEO FROM THE DAY……….
  12. Great pics as usual Drew, loving the 1st one of the Gar with the trolling motor in the background. Is the Rastafarian hat a tribute to Marcus GARvey? http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/garvey_marcus.shtml https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqIoLKwXx_U
  13. WTG G! Love when the elements come together to call it a day…..lol….its a lot easier than having to make the decision yourself. Great pics, and great fishing.
  14. LOL….JAIL TIME????? you don't even get jail for armed robbery these days. My sympathies to you Mike….that makes my blood boil.
  15. Went to Lac Seul yesterday…….. They were literally jumping in the boat.
  16. What no link to Big Cliff's Guiding Service website?
  17. wow! I'm on first name terms with a few of our guys up here, and see them a few times a year on the lake at least and probably half a dozen times in walmart and one guy five days a week when we greet as he drives past me at my son's school bus stop every morning.
  18. WOW….very cool. Awesome pics.
  19. Anything more than 3 hours would have to mean it was pretty unbelievable fishing and if the fishing was that good you'd better believe i'm staying more than a day…..so my answer would be 3 hours.
  20. Hi all, I've been hitting the lake with my boy(5 years old)lots the last couple of weeks. I owe lots to those members who have gone before me and posted about how to keep young anglers interested, occupied and interested while out for the day, Urban Fisherman and Mike Borger spring to mind but there have been many others who have posted their experience and advice on this subject. I have learned from them and my own experience that patience is key, as is preparing yourself mentally in advance not to get caught up in your 'adult' fishing mode, which in my case , although i'm in heaven, would seem pretty intense, focused and serious to an outside observer, and kids are perceptive….and Jack don't miss a thing. It does not hurt to hype up the event days before and every day leading up to the trip. Highlighting all the fun things we've done in the past and the new things we are going to see and do really gets Jack pumped to go (the trip can also now be used as a bargaining chip too…..but i'd never do that, that would be manipulative ). Food is also important. We are fairly strict with what types of food we allow Jack to eat, so relaxing that a bit(or sometimes a lot) is fun for everyone, nothing like chips, pop(diet) and some candy along with the healthier stuff. Making the outing an adventure that is not all about fishing is also important, take time out and explore, goof around, let them steer the trolling motor, get them involved in packing the boat, gassing up in town, buying bait (Jack love's it when he gets to do "dad stuff"). We have made a point of finding a new beach to explore each time we are out, Jack absolutely loves this bit, as do I, and we have a hoot collecting stuff, building stuff and learning about wildlife. Yesterday we added another dimension to our outings, we did our first Geocache find. Basically treasure hunting with a GPS…..found a few on the way to Lac Seul and there was one at a spring we always stop at…..the idea of TREASURE was almost too much for Jack to handle and he burst out of the truck when we stopped. Safety is also key….suffice to say I pack way more than I do when i'm going solo or with a buddy, basically everything i can think of that a 5 year old would need to make an unplanned night or 2 in the bush an adventure as opposed to a life and death incident. Nightime pull-ups(pampers) loads of zip locked extra clothes, including mosquito proof clothing, mittens, rain wear then also gallons of bug dope and sun screen, extra flashlights, a giant tarp to make a shelter, foil blankets, a hatchet, air horns, lighters, water proof matches, multitool etc…etc…etc…and i leave a google earth map up on the desktop at home tracing the path we will be taking on the lake and stick to that rigorously so the rescue teams have a chance of finding us! This allows me to relax, and a relaxed dad has more fun than a stressed one…..lol. Well I have rambled on and on. ABSOLUTELY LOVING BEING A DAD , LOVING THE ADVENTURES WITH MY BOY……just thought i'd share and make a mention of the help i have received from members here with advice on how to get kids involved and keep them happy when out. Here is a short video with some stills of our latest adventure, we collected quite a few creatures at the beach and jack took the bucket (aquarium) with him in the boat for the second and final fishing session of the day, certainly kept him entertained in between frequent bites. YESTERDAY @ LAC SEUL
  21. It does take a lot to keep 'em occupied, but fun too.
