i wouldn't bother with a remote, but spend the $$ and get a pro-troll control (dial in the speed) much easier then tapping the shifter up/down looking for that sweet spot... on a 16' boat, you won't need a high thrust... boat is small enough to be able to get away with a regular motor... look at the prop on a 9.9 high thrust, and then look at a regular 9.9 prop, huge difference... the high thrust is made to push a mass (torque) not for speed... 4 stroke definitely... gas ain't getting any cheaper and the 4 stroke is definitely cheaper on gas... clamp it to your transom if possible much stronger... bolt it also, many have lost kickers (unclamping.loosening while powering out in waves...)

i can tell you which 50 lures not to buy....

Call Acme Battery on Parkdale in hamilton they have the best prices...
-
I tried that... couple people said they'd "take" the boat if i gave them the trailer... i then asked them if they wanted the 150HP O/B to go along with it, they said if i didn't mind... 1 guy only showed up, with a 16ft trailer (tongue to the back) and 1 keel roller, no bow stop, bunks or anything... I kind of laughed cause i told him the boat was 18ft long on the phone...

for $50 is it worth taking the risk... Change it Emil, and never look back... different impellors last different... my 1975 Merc 150HP impellor was way smaller then my cousins 1996 Evinrude 40HP impellor... when we changed his last season, it was the first time it was everchanged, we broke the paint around the lower unit, and the thing still looked mint... i wouldn't dream of going that long on my merc...

i've got okuma convectors, shimano tekotas and cabelas depthmasters all of them have clickers... honestly i dont think you can compare a tekota vs an okuma... the tekota is over 2x the price... now would you rather have 2 okumas or 1 tekota... haven't had any salmon on the depthmaster yet... but it's been great on eye's and bows on top of that for $40US how can you go wrong for a 45 size LC

Cannonball weights depend on depth typically up to 60ft deep 8lb up to 100ft deep 10lb 100+ ft deep 12+lb the heavier the cannon ball, the less blowback you'll recieve also need to go heavier if you're running a down speed probe... as for rigger boards/risers... i can custom make them for you if you'd like... i've done a bunch for people... samples of my work:

buy new or be cautious... i bought a used St. Croix Avid Float rod, and the cork is coming out of the handle.... not 1 or 2 pieces, but all around and along the whole length of the grip... talked to the guy at the local tackle shop and i'm SOL on it since i'm not the original owner... and even then, it would be did i register the rod etc... blah blah blah... there's a million excuses they can use...

battery life on a fishhawk sucks... i've got the tempsense unit on a walker rigger, now if only i could get the boat in the water...
-
i wouldn't bother with the temp... i'd take speed over temp anyday... spend the $$ and never look back...

i need the gps holder also... http://www.gpscity.ca/item-ram-mount-gpsma.../ramb166ga6.htm works out to $47 after tax and shipping $40+ tax at radio world... so it's the same price, don't need it right away, so i'll hold off until i make my way up to BPS and then swing by radio world...

I've got to disagree with you Kirk... as for supporting the war, I'm canadian born and raised, but of Serbian Descent. The bombing of Yugoslavia/Serbia did no good for the country as a whole... the country was torn to pieces by all sides including the US... The presence of US/UN "peacekeepers" only prolonged the tragedy... to this day there is still conflict and unrest in the country and it's surroundings... is it right for the US to act like "god" and do as they please? i think not.... Somalia, Vietnam, Former Yugosalvia etc, iraq, Afghanastan, how has US intervention helped these countries? it hasn't... I'm not trying to start a pissing match, I don't follow politics, nor does it interest me... Lorissa, our thoughts/prayers are with your son and all troops away from home...
