Lawn mowing on slope -engine not happy :(
Roe Bag replied to captpierre's topic in General Discussion
OOPS. Sorry not that quikfish. I wasn't aware until recently but apparently Chronzey uses kwikfish on another board. I know lots about fishing. Much when it comes to small engines. The only thing I know about stocking is what I've heard from Darryl. Talked with him often when he's up at his trailer in Steelheaders park. Sorry for the confusion. -

Peter. Seafoam in some cases doesn't produce instant results. Once introduce into the floatbowl of the carburetor it may take some time to actually dissolve any buildup. Try a couple of cap fulls of Methyl Hydrate (gasline antifreeze) directily into the fuel tank. You may well have a build up of condensation that has settled in the bottom of the float bowl. When changing direction you are effectively altering the float level by tilting the mower. Possibly introducing water into the fuel mixture. Methyl Hydrate will remove any water that may be present. Hope this helps. Four strokes have oil in the crankcase. Small engines have no oil pump. They rely on a dipper that literally splashes the oil to the areas requiring lubrication. Running them on a slant can result in poor lubrication. Angles alter the oil level decreasing the effectiveness of the dipper. If the oil level is properly maintained(safe level) there is no cause for concern. An improper oil level will result in poor lubrication. This can cause premature wear or a seized engine. -

She must have come in from the south. I was in the backyard all day. Never heard a thing. Glad she made it home. A special piece of history right in with a special place right in our backyards.

I wear a brimmed hat to protect the back of my head and neck. Eye wear as previously stated, is a must as well. One time while fighting a large crazed coho, a weighted fly tore loose and struck me in the right lens of my poloroid glasses. Without the glasses Lord only knows what might have been.

Seafoam - The miracle solution for outboards
Roe Bag replied to Regan Thompson's topic in General Discussion
X2 Outboard, lawnmower, snowblower, weed eater and chainsaw every time I have to refill a container. Five ounces in my 25 litre outboard tank. (usually only once a season) Three ounces for a 10 litre can. (lawnmower/snowblower) Couple of ounces in my five litre cans for my weed eater and chainsaw. Usually dump in a whole can in each my vehicles gas tanks when I change my oil and filter. Keeps everything purring like a kitten. I stock up when CTC puts it on sale. Always keep a couple of cans on hand. -
The "Wall Of Shame". Exactly where he and many others like him belong. If you can't play by the rules then you shouldn't be allowed to play the game. Good timing too. Hopefully some of the snaggers out there will be detered. The more "Big Brother Is Watching", the better it will be for the sport

If in fact the boat was borrowed, then what choice did he have? He would have to come forward just to get the actual owner off the hook.
-
The only remorse he shows is after he has been caught. Hats off to the guys who confronted him and got it all on video. Even got the registration number on his boat. No place to hide. He's sorry all right. A sorry excuse for a human being.

In virtually every walk of life you'll find people that enjoy power tripping! Give them some authority and it goes right to their head. They simply get off on pushing people around. Give these types a badge and a gun. LOOKOUT!

The last thing I would do is spray water on ignition components!!!!!!!! Lord only knows what you may short out in the process. In all liklihood it's the bottom sparkplug wire. It's probably cracked on the underside and arcing to the metal housing. A cracked coil or other damged wiring would have more of an effect on performance. Newer outboards have secondary insulators strategically placed along the length of plug wires so they can't come into contact with metal components. In many cases the plug wire is an integral part of the coil. In order to change the plug wire, you must purchase a complete unit. (both coil and plug wire) Such was the case with my snowblower. If you can locate the leak, carefully wrap the area with electrical tape. Over time the insulation degrades and becomes brittle. One can easily cause more cracking. The less you disturb the wire the better.
-
A crack in a sprkplug wire can be almost invisible. If it's on the underside of the wire it could easily arc to te metal housing, undetected. Try running it in total darkness. Any leak should be clearly visible. (blue arc).

Try tapping the float bowl gently but rapidly with a screwdriver handle. From either side if possible.Sounds as though the float is stuck a little high and it's flooding out at low speed. A good dose of SeaFoam can't hurt. Good luck.

One thing to throw a helmet, wanna throw a punch, threaten to wreck someone, or kick an ass. But, deliberately run someone down with a racecar, REALLY???? Ward was dressed in black. Walks out in front of racecars on a dimly lit track. Barely missed by one and hit by another. What a surprise? Any change in direction of Stewart's car was more likely at the exact moment he saw Ward and hit the brakes. Too little, too late. Only those with a strong dislike for Tony would see it any other way.

Had an F20 Yamaha on a 14' tinny. Standard factory supplied prop. I cut a piece of 2X2 the width of the mounting bracket. Placed it under the bracket. This raised the anti cavitation plate so that it was even with the bottom of the boat. The less motor you have in the water the less resistance. Once you find your sweet spot, drill holes and bolt the motor to the transom. In the meantime make sure the thumb screws are good and tight and secure a safety chain. Three adults and all of our gear it ran out at 17-18 mph. With that load I ran the tilt pin in the third hole up from the bottom. Otherwise, just like Drifter says, the boat is plowing. Solo with my gear I had to lower it to the second hole from the bottom, otherwise the boat would porpoise. I would also intentionally move as much weight forward as possible. This also assisted in preventing porpoising. Ideally you want as much boat out of the water as possible. Tilting the motor out and away from the transom forces the back end down and lifts the bow. Experiment until you find the balance. Once you do I think you will be pleased.

In spite of the increased fines I still see it every day NF

Police are only being reactive. If an accident occurs and a cellphone or other device is is implicated then there are charges. Otherwise there is little or no enforcement. Perhaps the odd blitz but that's it. At least that's how things appear in my neck of the woods. -
15 hp Evinrude, hub slipage? Need some insight.
Roe Bag replied to Entropy's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like a spun hub. Some tips to confirm hub slippage. http://www.mercstuff.com/spunprop.htm Good luck. -
Remove the spark plugs. Wipe dry and remove any oily residue. Replace plugs. Re attach plug wires. Squirt a small amount of fuel mixture directly down the throat of the carburetor. Do not choke. If after a few pulls you can't get it to fire then you know it's an ignition problem. If it fires and runs briefly then you have an issue with the carburetor.

I have the Fury 1600 tiller. Mercury 40 horsepower four stroke. Personally I think you would be very dissapointed with only a 25 on a boat of this weight and size. As it is mine runs out at roughly 30 mph with three large men and all of our gear. My previous boat was much lighter with a 25 Yamaha two stroke. This one burns about the same amount of fuel. Got chased off of Quinte a couple of times last month by some major thunderstorms. When you need to get off the water in a hurry, it'll get you there!

When first implimented the funds collected from fishing licenses were to be utilzed for fish hatcherys, stocking programs, stream rehabilitation and greater enforcement. Over the past couple of decades we have seen more and more anglers purchasing licenses. Increase in costs of licenses. Then came the implementation of the Outdoors Card. More funds for the Government. Many hatcheries have been closed. Those that aren't are being run by volunteers. Stream rehabilitation has been left to volunteers. Enforcement is cut to the bone. So much so that the CO's are limited as to how much gas they can use on a monthly basis. As with all things Government run, poorer service, more excuses and greater costs.

For those that don't have access. MNR is proposing that those aged 65 and over pay 80 per cent of the cost of a regular fishing licence. Potential introduction of senior citizens fishing licences. At present, Ontario and Canadian residents aged 65 and older fish for free in Ontario. This practice is inconsistent with other public licensing systems in the province such as driver's licences, pilot's licences, camping fees and hunting licences. Without licence requirements there are inequities, gaps in the ministry's information regarding harvest, and the number of seniors that fish. Ontario is also the only Great Lake province or state in which resident senior citizens can fish for free. The Harris/Decima survey demonstrated very strong support for introducing a discounted licence for seniors. MNR is therefore proposing (Table 2) a discounted Seniors Conservation Fishing Licence and a discounted Seniors Sport Fishing Licence at 80 per cent of the standard fee.No changes are proposed to the requirement for non-Canadian residents aged 65 and older who currently must purchase an Outdoors Card and a regular-priced fishing licence. Taken from an MNR document entitled Sustainability Strategy for the Fish and Wildlife Special Purpose Account. Page 30

Pretty pretty fish! Worthy of a magazine cover. They don't come any nicer looking. Tend to shy away from the weekend crowds but I hope to get into some this week. Can't wait!
