1. Welcome to the board! If you've been lurking for a while, then you know how great it is here already. Looking forward to more reports...and pictures...we love pictures.
2. I'm pretty sure that sunfish is sucking on his thumb and that's why they took the pic...LOL. Nice report Rich...glad to see you're getting out there quite a bit.
3. Great report Terry! jumping like a school girl...at least it got your adrenaline up!! LOL. Some great pics there and at least it will be a memorable trip.
4. SWEET report Shawn! Sounded like an incredible day out there. I figure I shouldn't try those locations in my canoe....LOL. Great pics...congrats on a fantastic day!
5. Thanks Joey...we knew we were in for weeds....but they were crazy...esp since we were fishing in water that was less than 3 feet deep.
6. It was fun...gotta find a less weedy spot next time...didn't even try the trolling motor....LOL.
7. Hey there! For little ones, use live worms on a night crawler. Bly and I have luck at night with crank baits that rattle. Try a jointed one for some added action. Our favs are wally divers and jointed shad raps...both suspending models.
8. Nice muskie! At least you hooked into that one. The waters looked a bit rough where you were...and you did look cold. We went to the place you recommended, and caught a few small fish, but at least there was no skunk today. Thanks for the tip by the way! Next time we'll go there without the little one...we had to find places between the thick weeds for her to plunk a worm on a bobber down. I'd have like to have fished the thick weeds a little more. Oh well...still had a great day out there.
9. It was great meeting up with you and your family. My little one was pretty much fished out for the day, since she'd been on the water since 9am. Great report and it sure was a great day out there. Oh yeah...I crop all our pics, so I take out all the background stuff...makes the fish look bigger...LOL. Hope to see you out there again another time! PS. Bly is back at Scugog tonight...trying some dock fishing in another location. We saw a few nice muskies come from this dock at night. I think she told you where it was earlier this afternoon.
10. Wow...we'd be honoured Gerritt!! Just let us know when and where and you can bet we'll be there with the coffee and lunch/snacks.
11. Great report Sean! Bly and I were looking in a book we have about this lake and wondered about it. Your comment about canoes makes me think we'll try it out this year. Great pics and story as usual!
12. Great report and pics. Those pics of the storm clouds were pretty cool! Great job on the catching and cleaning...makes the cooking and eating all the better!
13. Great report! Since I am newly waterbourne, every body of water is exploring right now...LOL. Great story telling and pics to go along with it. Looking forward to your next outing.
14. Looking great Gerritt! It's going to be one SWEEET boat once you get it all done. It's a great project you are working on...and very fulfilling I imagine once you start catching fish in it. Cant wait to see it all done...and the before/after pics.
15. Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for canoe friendly waters! After preparing on Saturday, we had the car pretty much packed and ready to go for first thing Sunday morning. Bly and I were up at 7am, and we woke our 5 year old up at 730. We hit McDonalds at 8am for some Egg McMuffin breakfast combos and we headed up to Lake Scugog. We got there, set up the canoe, and launched at around 9am. The waters there were very shallow and weedy...go figure...it IS called the bog for a reason. We were having a hard time finding some fishable areas where our little one could catch some panfish and we could cast some topwaters and target bass. We finally found a little spot and our 5 year old landed the first fish...a little perch, but she was thrilled!! A little while later, using a 3" tube, I saw this guy follow right up to the canoe and then take the bait!! This is the biggest perch I've ever caught...a nice 12" one. I then switched up to a topwater frog to try my luck. After about a hundred casts, I saw this guy snatch up my bait! He put up a pretty good fight, getting tangled in weeds, but my 30lb power pro cut through them with no problems. This guy measured in at 17" and 2lbs 11 ounces. We had our lunch around noon and the little one started to get a little restless (no surprise here!), so we decided to head in at around 1pm. We saw some frogs jumping around when we launched, so as bly and I took care of putting the canoe back on top of the car, my little one looked for frogs. We didn't manage to catch one, but that's ok. Fellow OFNer, Smokinall4s, PMd me to let me know that he'd be up at Scugog at the docks in the afternoon with his family, so we took a little drive over there and sure enough they were just setting up. Here's a pic of he and his son trying to get some feisty sunfish and perch. My little one did a good job catching a few panfish...here's her first perch from those docks. It was really important to her that we didn't help her at all...she kept saying "Go over there...I'm ok over here by myself" LOL. We ended up leaving at around 3pm...it was a great day out there. Temps were a very comfortable 23 degrees...hardly any wind and no humidity. Bly didn't have a lot of luck out there today, but she's heading out fishing this evening. Anyone want to take her with them?? She really deserves a fish today!! LOL.
16. Grant...would love to get out with you again...since we are newbies at the canoe thing, any tips would be great! I'll be in touch soon.
17. Well, my reports have tailed off a bit in the past few weeks. I have gone fishing, but I've been busy with my band...doing some recording and videotaping.

When we do songs like this, I do everything technical...this means I record each track separately, set up the microphones, as well as mix the final product. To give you an idea of how long it takes, I'll spend about 1 hour just placing mics for the drums and a sound check to make sure the levels are to my liking. The recording process for this song took about 4 hours...yes...for a 3 minute song...LOL. The mixing takes me about 12 hours.

Anyhow...after about 8 to 10 different mixes, I settle on the final product. Then comes the video production. I'll usually videotape us playing the song 3 to 5 times...this gives me lots of raw footage to edit and synch video to the audio track. It's challenging and fun being a recording engineer, producer, recording artist and video editor.

The final result is what is shown below...it's a song called "Steady as She Goes", originally by the Recantours. I hope you enjoy it!

<param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqXVOfb41X8">

I am in the process of writing an OFC theme song. I have the drums/bass rhythm written, as well as a guitar line. Just working on vocal melodies and of course the lyrics!!
18. Hey there! Welcome to the board. I look forward to your report and pics....did we mention we like pics?
19. Ok...this is something you dont hear about every day....LOL. Check out this news story. I had to do a bunch of digging on Dutch websites to get the picture....enjoy!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Diver is young fisherman's catch of the day AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A Dutch scuba diver became the surprise catch of the day for a 13-year-old boy fishing in the Netherlands when his hook got caught in the man's lip. "I heard a sound on my head and immediately I felt a jerk on my lip," Wim van Huffelen, who had been swimming in the North Sea, was quoted as saying by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. The daily ran a picture of the diver with the hook embedded in his lower lip. The diver had been swimming close to the shore near the southern Dutch town of Zierikzee. A doctor managed to free him from the hook. http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnough...775023120070817
20. Thanks for the heads up on this one. A quick visit to their website shows winnings are based on 120 boats entering. Think I'll skip the bog this weekend!!!
21. Looking great TJ! Lots of quality family time with this project. Should be awesome once it's all done.
22. Awww crap...LOL. That's where I was planning on going in the Canoe. Hmmm....gotta think of plan B.....
23. Great report Rich...the carp in my usual spots have disappeared...and the last few times I've targeted them I've had nothing to show for it. Great job!
24. Wow...this site sucks. I'm gonna start my own up....LOL. You guys have done a great job as far as I'm concerned. Sure there have been some glitches, but I think you go over and above the call of duty to try and fix them as soon as you can. Thanks!
25. Nice report Rich! I dont mind losing a big fish...at least you got to feel the fight! Fishing from shore on some nights, I pray for at least a hit so that I know there was at least one fish in the water....LOL.
