Sorry for the non fishing post, but I thought I'd share a video of my band playing "I Wanna Be Sedated" by the Ramones, live in the Parry Sound area in the great outdoors. I did fish on this trip...does that count?? LOL. The wind blew our set list away...good thing our bassist was able to save it by stepping on it at the very end of the song. It's not played perfectly, but hey, we're playing live under the influence of alcohol...LOL. Thanks everyone for your replies!! Brian...I'm making some canoe stabilizers for when we have the kids in the canoe...maybe I'll figure out how to attach some downriggers and have salmon tow us around the lake....LOL.

Great first report! Hope to see many more from you. It's funny...I do the same thing...take some scenery shots in case I dont catch anything...LOL. No huge fish, but you at least got into some. Kudos for sticking it out thru the HEATWAVE!! By the time I got home from work, did some chores, and put our little one to bed, I went back outside and decided not to go fishing....just too humid and didn't feel like dealing with the mosquitoes!!! Cant catch a fish sitting in my living room! Looking forward to reading about more fishing trips from you.

Smallmouth Bass....CHECK! Great report 007. Your reports are always a good read...very descriptive and captures your mood and thoughts perfectly. LOL...sorry...dont mean to laugh at you...let's call it laughing WITH you. Everyone has nights like you just did. If you continue to do the evening bite, then mosquito repellent will become your new perfume. Bly and I fish mostly at night, so I know what you went through there. I've lost more line than I like to admit as well. Keep trying....dont give up....when you get that fish on the end of the line, all those mishaps will be chalked up to "learning experiences". Here's to better luck next time!

Guess that pretty much eliminates the catch (shoot) and release aspect of the sport.

I'm going to get better tie downs as well...I just used poly rope. I managed to get it pretty tight and it didn't move around too much at all. In the water, it was a bit tippy, but I've been looking online at some canoe stabilizers and saw you can actually make them pretty inexpensively. The cheapest I saw online was around $200...for a few styrofoam blocks and a 1x3 piece of wood! We may not use it to fish, but wanted it for when we took the kids out. I'll let you know how the trolling motor works....

How did I miss this thread?? Oh well...I gotta say...that's a great looking boat!!! Nice to the familiy on board as well. Hey, a first fish is a first fish...did it attack a trolling spoon?? LOL. Looked like a great time was had by all....congrats again on the new boat...you look completely at home on it already.

I went there once this past spring for the first time. Had no idea where to fish....LOL. Didn't end up catching anything....it was a cold and windy day, so I didn't stay long.
