Cant say for sure....lots of rain east of Toronto...tribs are likely to be chocolate milk! Good luck!

If you can, use distilled water (available at your local grocery store....for about 99 cents for a big bottle) to rinse them off. Chlorine in tap water can weaken the walls of the eggs. Good luck!

Bassin' Report - Great start but I ended the day very angry!
ccmtcanada replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
007....you are moving back to the UK? When is this happening? I had no idea. I too will miss your reports and reading about your quest!!! Anyhow, sorry to hear that your outing boiled your blood the way it did. Fishing should always be relaxing and fun. Bly and I have been out a few times, where something/someone has really ticked us off and it really puts and end to the outing. That's one of the reasons we like to fish at night so much...we are usually out there alone...or with just a few other anglers. Nice pics as usual...both the scenery and fish. Hope the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend is a great one!!! -
With the long weekend upon us, Bly and I decided to take the canoe out to hunt down some Salmon! We launched at about 7pm...the waters were calm, no wind, comfortable temperatures. We first started trolling some deep running cranks...then switched up to glow in the dark cleos. My back doesn't agree a whole lot with casting from a canoe, so after a while, with no action whatsoever, we decide to take a break from casting, and I throw on a jig with a big juicy worm on it. The idea was we'd drift around and see if we could catch anything...even a bullhead. Problem was, after about 5 minutes, we realized we hadn't moved an inch....LOL...where the heck was the wind...or even a small current to take us along? Oh well. Suddenly, I get a huge hit....drag starts screaming from my spool. I'm trying to control this beast, but it's putting up a good fight!! Then I realize that althought the fight is good, this salmon hasn't come to surface to jump....I haven't really felt any head shakes. Then I said...catching a salmon on worms? Ok....could it be a walleye? My heart starts thumping harder with the anticipation.... Then Bly nets this fish..... As you can tell from the picture, I was completely ecstatic!! This was better than a salmon....better than a walleye....I was just beside myself with happiness. Ok...I like to catch carp...but not when I'm salmon fishing....LOL.

Wow....I'm stunned...what an incredible report. The pictures were amazing...the fish were even better, but the smiles really tells the story. The only problem is, since these were your first muskies, all other outings will pale in comparison...LOL. Great job Wanye, Dano and Marc!

Question About Patched Welded Aluminum
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Thank you everyone for your replies. The technical aspect makes perfect sense...hot welding melts gaskets. Lew...you brought the rational side of these emotional decisions to light for me. You are right...welded, painted (painted to hide stress fractures or purely cosmetic), which leads to the complete stranger thing....I have no idea why he painted it. We will pass on this one....there are lots of boats out there to buy....just have to make sure I dont get too hasty and make a decision I'll regret later. -
Question About Patched Welded Aluminum
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Bump...picture added -
I have been looking around at some aluminum boats and found an interesting one online. He has emailed me saying that the boat has had damage in the past...there is a welded patch on the side, and he says the boat does not leak. My question is...I'm sure this is a weak spot in the boat, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone have welded patches on their boat? Thanks. Cliff Picture.....

Well, went down to a local mouth tonight with hopes of hooking into another salmon. I've noticed reports are few and far between lately for them....anyone else having luck? I've been out a few times this week....had a few on the other night but lost them. Tonight I broke by 3 outing skunk with this 37" 19 pound female chinook. At first she didn't fight too much...and I wondered what I had hooked. Once she came close to the surface though she took off on some healthy runs and took me about 10 minutes to bring in from then. Took a little while to revive, but she finally swam away after about 10 minutes.

I know you are....hehe...just talked to my wife at home and the within 5 minutes same thing happened....she can barely see the house across the street.
-
Great report..and you did very well for just a few hours! You have a little gold mine in your backyard there...always enjoy your reports!

Yep...Had sunglasses on half an hour ago. Just looked outside and could see it rolling in....cant see the building next to me....LOL.

Had the same thing happen to me...do you have CAA on that vehicle? When it happened to me, they sent a locksmith out, who managed to take out the broken off piece, but me a new key roadside and I was on my way in 45 minutes. Now I get new keys cut when I notice wear on them.

I fish mostly from shore...and here's what I do. I'm not sure from your post if you meant shore fishing or fishing from a boat. I have a smartcast castable fishfinder which marks depth. I'll then cast to that spot....leave the bail open (that way it'll fall straight down instead of coming back towards you on an angle), and count how long it takes before line stops coming off the bail. I now know how long it takes the lure to hit the bottom and the depth. If the depth is say 20 feet and it takes 10 seconds for the lure to hit bottom, then if I want to run the lure at 10 feet, I'd count 5 seconds before closing the bail and retrieving. Hope this helps

ccmtcanada replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
Not sure yet Shawn. We'll probably pound the shores locally. We're having the family over for Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday so we'll be prepping Saturday and Sunday. Have a great weekend Shawn! -
Joe...very sorry to hear this terrible news. Our condolences during this very difficult time. Cliff & Carole

In order to immigrate here, the applicant does in fact have a criminal background check. My wife came from the US....she had to send fingerprints to the FBI for a background check (this was pre 9-11), as well as checks from local state police. Every applicant does have to supply information to this effect or their application will be rejected. I'd assume that since 9-11 this part of the application is under MUCH more scrutiny. Once your visa arrives, they do warn you that if you break the law, your case will be brought in front of immigration officers, where deportation may occur. You really think the gun toting gang members are in this country legally?

The first fish I ever caught larger than a panfish was less than a year ago...so getting new PBs isn't that hard...LOL.
-
Wow...the Ontario record is only 2.25 pounds....would suck if he released it before a pic was taken...that's quite the catch!!!

Nice work yet again! Did you win the tourney??? LOL j/k. Your reports are always great to read...always some great pics.
