Hey Mike! Thanks go to you as well for helping out my friends. I know this was out of the way for you....and you had to drive quite the distance, so I appreciate it very much! You did an awesome job (as seen in those pics). They really were in a quandry and I remembered your ad in the members business directory, so I contacted you. The timing all just seemed to work out from there. I did tell them that I didn't really know your work, but I urged them to call you to take the chance. Awesome work Mike! It looks amazing. I'd refer you to anyone I know who needs a job done...they really liked working with you...so again, thank you! One thing to check out as well is used motors that do not work....you can sometimes get them really cheap....if one has a working trim and tilt, then you may get yourself a bargain! If you could find your own motor, then you'd have spare parts as well.

Jason was showing me these micro hooks he was using...I like to use hooks that are probably a little too big for trout, but they seem to work for me. Yeah...we'll all have to hit a trib or two this fall.

I liked the report...very straight forward and simple. hehe.

If I could find a good paying job in my field in the Kawarthas I'd be all over that. Sure, the lakes can get busy in the summertime, but Peterborough is a pretty big town. Oshawa is a short distance and you can get to Toronto in just a few hours. Good luck!

Basskicker and I planned to hit a local trib first this morning looking for some Steelhead. I've been at this location a few times with him and always got skunked...so I didn't have high hopes this time. The way I look at it though, it's always great to see Jason, so at the worst we'd have a chance to catch up while drifting. We got there and it was still dark out....we both started drifting and couldn't even see our floats....LOL. It was ok though...5 minutes later it was light out enough to see them. We both had a few missed hits and then suddenly my float goes down. Wow...I actually have a fish on in this trib! I couldn't believe it....haha. After a short fight, I landed my first fish. As I picked it up for the picture it starts flipping around and I end up unintentionally releasing it. Smart a $ $ Jason takes this pic and says..."there you go...here's your fish"...LOL. So Jason...it was what..a 15 pounder right?? Ok ok...it was a small one.... Jason was having a tough day....had a few hits including one break off. A little while later, I get another small one, but hey, I'm not complaining!! Sorry bout the quality of the pics...we both forgot our cameras, so I had to take these with my cell phone. By 9am, the bite had turned off. The waters were VERY shallow and gin clear, so we decided to call it a day at 10am. Good seeing you again Jason...we'll do it again soon.

Lew...that was more eloquently written than the article I posted! Very heartwarming....awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing those memories with us. My dad was my teacher and early fishing partner, and while I stopped the sport, we still got out to Quinte a few months before he died of cancer. That's a trip I'll never forget, and although he's not with me anymore, I look up in the sky on every fishing trip and say "hi" to him. Dont give up on it...I know it's hard with the memories, but that's a tradition that should be continued....when you're ready.
