  1. Then they're keeping them pegged.. as my place is within sight of the highway!
  2. Just heard that my neighbour from across the channel on Temagami fell through the ice today trying to walk to my side so I guessing not safe anytime soon. And to think I drove my truck to his island 9 years back to pick him up on Dec 17th!
  3. Clean them before you store, so your rims don't get eaten by salt/dirt/etc over the winter. I just put a plastic tire cover bag on the floor and then stack them on top of each other on their sides and put a board on top to keep the mice out.
  4. Safe ice isn't going to happen anytime soon around Midland / Penetang. This is the hood of my plow truck an hour ago... it was clean after I plowed at 4PM yesterday. The Sound is wide open as of 3pm today.. if it wasn't for the snow I should get the boat down there for Musky on open water! Temagami I have had no report from Neighbours to say it's safe to sled out to the island, but by Christmas we should be good for a trip!
  5. LOL OI.. it's my Father in laws farm truck, only one I had in the yard with an 8' box to fit a full cord and I didn't care how bad I hurt it or if it made it to the pile!!
  6. Lop the sides off first, then split the center into two night logs. Now get into some narly limbed oak or maple then the odd one needs to visit the splitter, but rarely. The birch in the picture I had to use the hydraulic for the bottom 4 x 16" lengths only, the rest of the tree was done with the axe.
  7. Lew, looking good over there!!! I thought that was why you invited the daughter over on weekends for supper, to carry the wood in for you! LOL I hear yah on the mess though, if I didn't have almost 90 acres of hardwood forest to keep cleaned up I'd switch quicker than poop through a goose!
  8. Nothing but a 8lb maul axe. Been doing it for 25 years. Great way to keep a 55 year old in shape!.. or die trying!
  9. You talking Lowell Lake just South of Temagami??? If so Lake Trout (only open from Feb 15th to 3rd Sunday in March), Northern Pike, Small Mouth Bass (not open in winter) and perch. Mapping I have makes no mention of Whitefish or Pickerel (walleye)
  10. LOL Terry.. I have two, one that hooks up to the tractor and one that runs with it's own gas engine. I can't stand going that slow! Just wish my left arm would come back to full, but at least she's back at about 40%. OI, the dried limb shed pile (40' long x 6.5' high) and the 5' high x 8' long 6 rows behind a single sea can are gone.. that was last years burn! About 5.3 bush cords.
  11. Should be good by then.. one of the neighbours just had to break the 2" of ice from town right up the channel past my place last week, just when it was starting to take hold! Snake and Cassels generally tighten up before the big lake!
  12. Nice !! I'm just about ready to go.. but in no hurry !! LOL Woodsman, pray for lots of steady cold and no snow fall. I still can't get to my island near town and the main hub is still wide open.
  13. Red Oak and Maple costs me about $5 per bush cord in gas/oil... and 8 hours of hard labour! Somewhat less when the better half is helping..
  14. I'm just going to go into Michaels and buy a can of black fabric paint to freshen up my cheap Frabil! Just sayin...
  15. Pat Boyd.. Lake of the Woods Lodge. com http://www.lakeofthewoodslodge.com/contact
  16. If you'd been taking the high road, you would have never made the crack in the first place trying to look important! FACT is, I know what I lifted into the truck. One fresh "200 lb or so" Doe that a seasoned hunter couldn't get in by himself. I don't care what it weighed after he hung and dressed it out.
  17. Now I remember why I stopped posting much, with a few condescending around here... but thanks for the back up guys. I know what I can lift with ease, and myself and the fit 70 year old hunter on the other end didn't just throw her into the truck box!
  18. Lookin good !! Quite the tank in that first shot!
  19. What you doing hunting down in Sin City Andrew...
  20. I helped load a 200 or so pound Doe last night... Spiked buck got to live another day..
  21. Time to invest in a hole punch so you and your three buddies can identify who's fish are whos when requested by a CO!
  22. The poor guy with only the 3 x 275's ! That's only 96US gallons per hour at WOT!.. as mine burns 32 (and never gets run there other than the odd take off)
  23. Maybe Andy will pop up next...
