Yah, I'd say 8 miles in a blizzard with a call from the ice to us all cozy inside the cottage to go rescue the buggers is "working great" !
-
They are NOT running jet fuel. Jet fuel is basically diesel or kerosene! The are running racing GAS... or some like me cutting their Shell / Sunoco high test with 100LL AV Gas. I just happen to have a 500 gallon tank of same.

I don't need help Kelvin!
-
Under a different tree, with a full view down the front yard.
-
Be a bugger getting it in Kelvin, this is as high as the little Kubota would lift it so I could move it to where the Boss wanted it. .. and that was by cheating and lifting it, then putting the hoe out full to use as a weighted lever to lift the front up a bit. Still snowing here!!!! Where's that sunshine they promised for 1PM ??

Trying to go easy this year and just cleaning up some dead stuff.. LOL.. 36" maple and a 28" Ash. Made Leah a love seat, coffee and end table!
-
Glad to see someone else get the dump for a change!! LOL My view from yesterday has changed minimally this morning, may have got 2" overnight but still snowing lightly.

Been a long time since it was "Molson Park Drive".

My lowrance gps and my Lund smart craft gauges paddle wheel are darn near identical for read outs on flat (ie non-current) water. If you want at depth with current taken into account you can buy same for your riggers.

I've found that the tips you get with a tube of RTV sealant will thread onto one of the threaded adapters that came with the cheap pump and I use those on one of my engines. Just clip it to the correct "step" diameter to work. On another engine I use a tip from a tube of hemorrhoid cream.

Beauty fall musky, and a monster Kawartha walleye

Nice clean Ski ! -
Don't buy fuel with ethanol in it in the first place and avoid the costs and problems of doing so and like fisherman said if using cans you need to be anal about cleanliness, rotting o-rings, plastic breaking off the vent plug cap, etc. That said, 12 seasons now with my Lund and over 1500 US gallons of fuel through the boat and I've never found as much as a drop of water in my Verados fuel/water separator canister.
-
Thanks for the larfs Joe!! I came prepared that year to drop in on you BOQ guys!! How you guys slept there is beyond me. Man I had some pounds on me then, dropping the Pepsi from my diet took car of that, now steady at 185lbs. Think I was 225 there...

Yes, I have through hull pumps. Turn on pump, add antifreeze until it comes out in the live well / power washer hose. Many just let their boats drain, but consider if it doesn't completely and the pump cracks... your boat sinks!
-
I do all the oils now Roger and then Musky fish. Bonus is that when you finally winter store everything is coated in clean oil.. not the full seasons used. Quick check for water on final bed'y bye! 2 minutes to pop the lower screw and put it back in. Oil will barely drip out while water will flow with the upper vent screw still in place.
-
If you were paying attention possibly. Blow a shaft seal or have a loose vent screw / gasket and water being heavier goes in and oil comes out. I did a ladies 15 HP merc on the island next door before she went home this Fall and her entire lower unit was full of water... zero oil. Dropped it at the marina for her so they can pressure test and re and re seals as I had no time for it.
-
Looks like 2 out of 3 missed my point! I'm not done either, I generally fish even after I have to take the plow truck to the boat ramp and plow it myself. I always do the oil BEFORE we have freezing weather, as it will only take one good cold night to crack that lower unit if you have water in it! .. and CPH, the boat just makes me look good. She's got 10 full summers sitting in the water, as we missed two summers chasing Jen around.
-
'Tis the season... at least check your lower units for water by simply removing the lower plug and seeing what comes out first. Oil you're good, water.. well no! Both of my engines upper and lower oils changed, plus fuel and oil filters on the Verado, and the live well and power wash pumps anti-freezed and capped. Ready for the Musky season if I find the time... You should have already had some stabilizer in your fuel on the last boat ride, but if not add some to the tank at least for storage.

Boat Carpet installer suggestion request
irishfield replied to mistyriver1's topic in General Discussion
When you pull it all out and do new wood Jim.. wrap it all in vinyl and forget about it for the rest of your life!! Ditch the permanent carpet and add some snap ins if you like. Love mine. I roll the snap in carpet up and store before the Fall Musky hunt begins.. -
My '07 x 2150 is still as new. In the water 5+ months of the year for now it's 12th season. The key to corrosion is staying ahead of it. You see any white powder spray it with fluid film.. Once my boat is dry I spray the entire length of all the sister keels and side reinforce strip so it soaks in behind them, so no rivets go nice and puffy white. Did that yesterday and will have to do again if I get out Musky fishing this Fall. Absolutely ZERO leaks to date. Lund should have stuck with what they know, I shuddered when the fiberglass line came out!

Town of Temagami under evacuation alert.

They fill to just over 1600 US Gallons Hack and have 4 dump doors. Their pair of turbine engines put out just over 5000 SHP ! -

Exactly Lew. Nobody is out there pulling high G's in a utility aircraft. I highly doubt, even fully banked and cranked to line up for the next scoop, that they are even reaching 2 g's in what look like tight turns due to camera angle. They are making fully coordinated turns in relatively slow flight as they conserve fuel to last as long as they can out on a fire. The CL415 is only rated for a 3.25 Maximum G pull and nobody is going to be testing that out fully loaded with fuel. -

Were you at Ken's place?? Yah, that's us. Built the slide for our daughter in 2014 and we continue to use it in her honour!
