Out of bed and up to the walker without assistance this morning, then to the hall and back. Staff has her billed as the new poster child for Sarcoma recovery. They've never ever seen this recovery charge before... They still have to get her onto crutches and able to hop stairs before she can be discharged, but she's well on her way. Told it will be a few months before she's allowed to put ANY weight on the right leg as the area the pelvic bone was removed from needs to scar in and simulate a socket for her leg. Thanks for letting me ramble... it keeps me stable, well almost!

I think it was more of a statement that he thought she needed to hear, but the surgeon did state he removed bone to "clear margins" after surgery and I suspect they were sending samples to the lab during the procedure to be sure of that. Jen was going to ask him when he came around this morning as he usually does before 9. We're a little behind this morning and haven't left for the hospital yet. The last few days have taken their toll on Leah, may have to leave her at the hospital for the rest of the week and let her sleep in Jen's room. Already have a folding bed/cot ready in Jen's room if need be.

Red Rocket was fun today... both trains.. no A/C. Today is muggy and herendous with a walk to Bay/Richmond almost killing us by the time we returned to the hospital.. can't wait for Thursday. I think I'll get Leah a bed for Jen's private room at Sinai starting tomorrow, otherwise I'll be admitting her anyway!

Sprinkled on University Ave early this morning. That made it even worse out there, didn't think I was gonna make it back from a walk to Bay/Richmond to raz the lads.

Well I can announce that at 10:30 this morning she went for a stroll around her room using a walker, leaving many medical staff standing there with their mouths hanging open considering it's this early in the game. Not dizzy, not in any pain, just happy as hell to be up off the bed. Sat in a chair for a few hours and then went back to the bed about an hour ago. It will be a few months before she's allowed to put any weight on her right leg, but she's off to a blazing start! Yes I got video of her first steps! Gonna take a day or so before I can figure out how to get one of those up so you can break out a tissue!

She definitely is Albert.. I can't show the pictures of over 150 staples holding her incision closed.

Leah and I almost got thrown out of Value Village at Bloor and Lansdowne buying our shirts! Laughing so hard, I was in the mens section and she headed over to wimmins. I was holding up shirts and yelling over.. "what about this one, ugly enough?"

So hot today we didn't walk bar to bar.. we used the streetcar!

Taught herself how to sit up last night. Proud as punch to show that off to us this morning. Says she was just getting prepared for standing up tomorrow. Hell bent on getting out of here, has a bridal shower to be at in less than 4 weeks you know..
