Was a great day to work in the hangar Nick... I know the sled runs.. the ice auger runs.. the Lund is up off it's tires on the trailer (with no hope of late season Musky.. other than maybe through the ice!)... airplane is ready for back lakes and I found some of my ice gear. Seeing that Terry appears to have a month off... I'd better make sure it's all ready to go. Hope to get out tomorrow or Saturday for an aerial boot, if the grass freezes white again... and I'll see what changed in the area on the ice front since Tuesday.

Do you need glasses to drive at night (and don't know it )... that's where my wife's complaints about her truck lights ended.

I have a Frabill Davey... trying to remember from what year but I think 2008. So it's got at least 5 seasons on it and heading for 6... It's been worn through in a few spots from running 40+ miles a day on Lake Temagami behind a snowmobile.... and patched with the cheap tent patches from CTC where it's worn through. We've been out in every kind of weather you could think of, from -38C to +11 and rain. It's a tent... I've never been wet.. and you are supposed to be dressed for the weather anyhow.

No need to be spraying a brand new hut with waterproofer... well there better not be anyhow! I bought a 4" wide roll of blue floor mat x 1/2" thick and cut it in about 16" strips so all the guys could have one when up at the lake. It does help keep your feet a bit warmer and the bonus is... it's the last thing you put on top of the load in the hut before putting the cover on to move to another spot. Slows the wear holes down a bit on the cover!

Cliff I still look for "by the case" deals on KD !!! It gets imbedded in your brain after awhile.... My post secondary education did three things for me... taught me where every bar and nightclub was in Toronto, made me 3 friends for life that helped find same and opened the door to get me my first job in the engineering field. Worked there for 3.5 years, in a union environment, and decided that there had to be more to life than that! Started our own business, on a hope and a prayer at 23 (wife 21 and 2 kids already,) and never looked back.. Wish bone or Back bone... you can have both. One just has to be stronger than the other!

Here's something to keep in mind... it's not necessarily the mouth/outlet of a river that's the unsafe spot on the ice. It could be further out... Shot I got today in Hogs Bay..

Yah... was kinda my point 2 days ago.... Food isn't any cheaper on Landsdowne St in Peterborough than it is on Yonge St in Toronto. Rent in the 'boro is about par for a one or two bedroom unit that my daughter is paying at Bloor/Lansdowne in Toronto for her place and the cost of a vehicle / insurance and gas to get out to the 7 bypass for work, same deal. I guess when Dad's paying the bills anyone can live like a king. Being born in Peterborough Civic myself... I guess he struck a chord with his "Live like a King up there"! All that said...I'd be happy fresh out of school to grab $20 an hour vs many that stick their noses up and keep living off Mom and Dad by staying at home as "there'll be something better come up Mom".

LOL.. I use them cups for everything... but drink coke.. NEVER! (son projectionist at the drive in for the last 18 years...throw away cups are great in the shop)
