My last bill. For 29 days Service Type is Residential - Medium Density Used 780 kWh Total of my electricity charges = $150.69 150.69 / 780 = 19.3 cents per kWh My 'all costs included' price (includes electricity, debt charge, delivery, reg charges, and the OCEB credit) is 19.3 cents per kWh for this billing period. Family of 4 in 1150 sq foot cottage-house, and we do everything we can to save electricity. Last bill was $182.91.

Similar thing almost happened to me today on a drifty side road. Just make sure you're not taking your half out of the middle. The number of times this happens to me in a week is ridiculous. Sometimes you need to push back a little to ensure your not going to start biting into the shoulder. Remember some roads are set up so that the yellow line is actually not in the middle of the road, even though people should be able to see it, apparently they choose to ignore it, or don't look too hard. You did the right thing; stopping and making sure he was ok. Drive safe. Entropy

Trying to find an article about why we hunt. Help Please.
Entropy replied to Entropy's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys. -
I am trying to find an article about why we hunt. I think it may have been by a guy who was called Mahoney (?) perhaps not. It basically was outlineing our spiritual need to hunt, and explains that it is more than just killing. Can anyone direct me to this? I have tried google’n this but I have not the time to explore page after page of results. I was hoping someone here would know what I’m refering to (or something similar) and directing me to it quicker. Thanks for you help. Entropy

I find this conversation more than interesting. Found 3 old threads along the same line. Might be some interesting reading,.... or not. http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72639&hl=entropy http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69228&hl=entropy http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51221&hl=entropy&page=1 Be well. My first question was .... "Who is Mike Borger, and why would I want to go fishing with him?" I don't consider myself new, care to fill me in? Ignorant I'm sure, but honest none the less. Can I take my Father or Son or Daughter? -
Next thing you know they will ban wood stoves, or try to tax us on the emissions from them, or tax us on the ground water we pump out of our wells. Make us buy fishing licences, and regulate when and where we can fish, tell us if we can or can't use clotheslines to dry our clothes, ban chickens from our backyards, or endorse chickens in our backyards. Tell us to compost, make it illegal not to recycle, encourage organic foods, but discourage hunting on Sundays. FN Crazy. Where can I go LIVE?

I pay $40 a year for a 'fire burning appliance' rider? ryder? on the house insurance. I'm hoping to put a wood stove in the garage and assumed that would mean another $40 a year, and was told 'no' by my provider. It is $40 a year for as many as you have. We have natural gas here, but burn a pile of wood. The furnace uses electricity too. Besides wood heat feels better, and helps keep you fit (not that I am) Entropy

There is a couple living in an old family cottage down the road, it is poorly insulated if any. They use electric space heaters (melts the snow off the roof), some how rack up a crazy hydro bill (I'm assuming they pay it). They have no working plumbing, and fill up water bottles at Chalk Lake spring, for bathing, drinking, washing, and to flush a toilet. They say they lost everything in the recession. Entropy

I find it strange that a country like Canada can send billions of $ to help other countries in need, our politicians can give themselves raises and lavish pensions and the people that worked their whole lives in this country and paid their taxes can be literly left out in the cold! There must be something we can do but what? I agree, "our' government needs to focus on the core essentials of what we need, and stop helping others. Look after your family first, then abroad. Was thinking about going Friday after work, but now see it is past hwy 400. Think that is going to be way too far. Almost feels like the Sportsmen show was closer to me. Friday at 4 pm = traffic = not for me. Was it once held in Scarborough, once, many years ago? Entropy

Hey, Mississauga is Toronto isn't it?

Was there today with my wife and kids. It is .... 1/3 of what is used to be. We spent 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs and more than covered everything, and that was with a 2 and 4 year old in tow. Underground parking at $14 was nice, was able to leave all the jackets in the vehicle. I renewed my OFAH membership while I was there.... over $50 for one adult for one year.... getting expensive. There were a lot of animals on the roads and sholders right after the ice storm. I think some of the trees falling in the forest scared them out.

?Yah a big Breast! well done.

The extra vehicle can be classified as a "recreation vehicle", that's what my ins company suggested when I was considering the same thing. Good point about checking out the ins rates before you buy For me: Brand new 4 door Jeep Rubicon maxed out $60 000 = $90 a mth Brand new 5 door Hyundia Accent at $21 000 = $ 135 a mth 2000 Chev Tracker @ 430 000 km, all rusted to hell, seat belts held in with visgrips = $120 a mth When I asked them about the rate difference they said it all has to do with the safety rating. Can he put in moore vents from the sofit to the peak (put in ridge vent), then bats, then vapour barrier, between the rafters of the roof? That would give air flow, insulate, and vapour barrier. Entropy?

For a wick fed kero heater in the garage and emergency in the house. Also, oil lamps.

Thanks, I checked www.canada411.ca. I emailed Durham Fuels, and the told me to try Lambert Oil. Most of the listings are just gas stations, or fuel oil for home heating, that sort of thing. Thanks about the TSC sale, might check that out. Entropy
-
The Lambert Oil gas station (Hwy 12 in Whitby / Brooklin) is where I buy bulk kerosene (kerosene from a fuel pump) for about $1.75 a litre. FYI, they also sell stove oil and dyed diessel as well. The problem is they have been sold out since the ice storm and do not expect to have more for at least 3 weeks. [Most stores carry it for about $25 for 9.88L which is $2.53 per litre.] I only need about 10 L, and my father in-law needs about 25 L. Does anyone know of another place to buy it cheap in either Durham Region or the Lindsay area? Thanks, Entropy

I hear ya on the wood, I think by the end of Feb I could be out. Lots of homes in Ontario have reported going through a pile more fuel and wood than normal. -
