Weekend Report (More Goose and Duck) My buddy showed up at my place at 4:30am Saturday; I still had not finished making coffee and lunch, nor had I even visited the dumper before he was pulling into the driveway. He said he was so excited to about going out hunting again that he could not sleep!!! So, after waking up a few times; at 3am he decided to start getting ready. I turned on the ‘afterburner’ and got the last few items of my gear into the truck, and we headed out. When we got to our location there were a couple of guys with a couple of dogs, WITH A BOAT FULL OF DECOYS AND WATER. Turns out they too were in a hurry and forgot to put the plug in. LOL, ..... They got their boat under way and I ended up knocking my canoe off the roof racks and it came smashing down on the ground; I thought I had tore off the mirror but to my surprise it was still attached to the door!! (As I got in the vehicle to go to work this morning I noticed it put a small dent behind the rear window, I guess it will fit in with the few other dents from similar incidents) Talked to ‘Takem’ on FRS ch1 a few times too. It was good to hear you got a couple of birds. Are you going to be around this weekend? Maybe we can team up on Saturday morning? The actions was not nearly as fast as that of last Saturday, but by the end of the hunt we had 4 Geese and 5 Ducks; which is a successful hunt, but in comparison to last time, it was .... slow. Yesterday I did up a couple mallards in the crock-pot with potatoes, red pepper, and some apples, with a bit of rosemary and Montreal Steak Specie on the ducks. It ended up tasting more like roast beef with the texture of chicken, than having a distinctly duck flavor. I think next time I’ll leave the skin on (although that seems like an awful lot of plucking) and roast them in the oven stuffed with onion and other good stuff. Looking forward to this weekend !! Jedi -- no we were up north at different location. Top of the H ??? where are you talking about? PM me if you wish. Entropy

Ya, it took about 1.5 hrs to get them into the freezer and fridge. We did all the ducks, teal and mallards up whole, and breasted and legged the geese. We have sent some of the geese to be made into sausage. Should be good. I feel sorry for my garbage man this week though; that’s going to be one smelly trash can! Ran out of shells!! You know how it is 2 teal fly by, you fire 3 shots (2 hit - 1 misses), the ducks hit the water one is a solid kill the other is fluttering about, you take another shot to finish it off. So right there your at a 50% success ration of shots to # of birds harvested. Then there are the times when 3 geese fly in your take 3 shots your partner takes 3 shots; 2 of the geese are definitely dead when they hit the water, and one takes you on a ‘wild goose chase’, and that could use up another 4 shots. Then there are the times when you have a lone goose come flying in perfect, swear it is well within range, take 3 shots, and the bird keeps flying, as you stand there wondering if it was wearing a flack jacket. And, of course you have to account for the teal you fire at that are doing warp 5 past you, that you know are in range, but simply seem to out fly or out maneuver the incoming spread of #2's. I’m pretty certain I saw some flare and chaff coming off a few teal. I took a box of BB ( not quite full) and a box of #2 ( not full), so in total I had 40 shells.... ? This Saturday I will be sure to bring a little extra. Enjoy your harvest. Entropy

We had our decoys set up, canoe stashed, and were at the ready by 6:25am Saturday morning (yep only minutes till it opened), and MY GOD when it started we could not keep our guns loaded. Don’t get me wrong we weren’t sky-blasting, but dropping some birds and missing a good number of others. By 9:00am we had our limit of Ducks (blue winged teal and mallards) and were trying to top up on Geese, which we finished off on a total of 7 by the time we ran out of shells. It certainly was my best hunt ever, and my buddies too. It will be hard to top this one off. Pics are on 35 mm film; I’ll post them in a few weeks. Can’t wait till this Saturday to get out again, .... or Friday if I happen to be ‘ill’. Entropy

I would make it but my neighbours 'set' is not a full set. lol I'll head to Canadian Tire after work.

I'm trying to find a bolt to fit a thread in piece of equipment. I used my neighbour's tap and die set and found that the one that worked was 12 NC 24. What size of bolt is this?? Help? Entropy

1. Call Fleming College might be interested. 2. call another institution. 3. plant it in the backyard 4. Call an outdoor education centre. 5. Leave it on your neighbours door step the day after they leave for a weeklong vacation. ???

Just got off the phone with the mechanic, says he has repalaced a coil at not cost. AND says it works for sure. I'll pick it up tomorrow and let you know Monday. Maybe the fist diagnosis was not right? Entropy
-
What Nipissing is saying is what the mechanic has said "Dont think its a coil problem fellas. Entrophy said when the leads to the coils were switched the problem went to the other coil {The the other cylinder} . Problem must be upstream of the coils. He has tried repacing the CDI Module (aka, power pack, ignition mod.), and the trigger. He still does not know what it is. I'm supposed to pick it up Tomorrow, Hope the darn thing runs right THIS TIME. Entropy
-
I have only paid $102 so far, he (the mechanic) says there is no way to test for the cause of this probem other than repace the parts. Right now it is him who now owns the parts tried, not me, so that's good. The coils are separate. My Father has had this guy do the head gasket on this motor, and other work as well, everyone seems to recomend him. Entropy

I have a 1991 25 hp Mariner outboard with elect. start on my boat. At 3/5 throttle to full throttle it bogs down, if you leave it in “bog down mode” after a couple of minutes it opens up and comes out of the hole and attains full throttle. It starts fine, idles fine, runs at 1/5th to 3/5 throttle fine, but it’s when you hit the throttle to bring it up on plane that it bogs down.... ??? The marine mechanic I have been taking it to has tried to fix it 5 times, each time it is like the first day I took it in there. I’m going on 5 weeks without a boat. So, far he has cleaned the carb. twice, checked to see that the electric choke is working ok, then narrowed it down to an ignition problem. When it is “acting up” (and only on the water) there is an inconsistent spark to one cylinder. When he switched the leads to the coils the “inconsistent spark” switched to the other cylinder. He replaced the CDI module and that did nothing, then replaced the “trigger”, and that did nothing. He now says he is going to take a good look at it and try and fix it .... ??? Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going wrong? (Other than I might want to take it to another mechanic). Entropy
