  1. I think I saw you out there; 1 person small canoe with electric ?? fishing the bay and marshy area across from the launch? Entropy
  2. Looks good, .... what lake were you on that still had a floater? I'll keep a better eye out myself for logs.
  3. lol, I've been there too .... sort of doze off, come too ....
  4. Yep, I turn the motion lights off. I use a hand held LED light, and don't use the center of the .... 'beam' but the outter edge to spot the worms. Grab the light coloured end of the work; it is the end closest to the hole. Entropy
  5. Sat Friday evening, saw nothing. Woke up at 3:30am Saturday, too much rain for me. Watched fish'n shows on TV. Might try Wed. evening. Got to work on the lawn tonight.
  6. well done, did you get his phone #. I'd say he owes you a ride.
  7. Good point
  8. I'll see you out there at about 9 am. Good Luck !! Turkey hunt from 4:30am till 9am, panfish from 9am to 1pm, then up to the In-laws farm for 2am, drop the wife off, and I'll head on to Gull lake to try for Lakers. It's a hard life but somebodys' got to do it. Good luck to you. Entropy
  9. Well, if the rain holds off I'll be out this eve, if not for sure tomorrow morning. Gobble! Gobble! Gobble!
  10. did they not let off the throtle? How did that happen?
  11. It is still more likely that you will be struck by lightning than shot turkey hunting. Even more likely to be involved in a car accident but we all do that. Hunting still remains one of the safest activities you can partake in.
  12. I totally agree with you. I'm almost certian that your told not to use a gobble call, just incase someone is walking around stalking. Entropy
  13. That should not happen, I took the course 1 year ago, and if you fallow the rules; that you had to demonstrate you understand to pass the test, IT would not happen. I'd love to hear what the guy that pulled the trigger has to say, for many reasons. I'll be out there Saturday morning. Entropy
  14. My First Turkey Hunt Well, I took yesterday off to try turkey hunting for the first time, with my buddy Mike. I woke up at 3 am, showered (oddly I feel warmer, if I’m good and clean, and this was to be a cool morning sitting still in the bush), stopped at Tim Hortons in Port Perry then headed out. Met up with Mike at 4:30am. It was a beautiful morning. It seemed like I had not been out to enjoy a morning like this in ages, but I guess the last mornings would have been when out water fowling, or November morning.... naww it couldn’t have been that long. We choose our spots, put a couple of decoys out and hunkered down. I was getting a little board and related turkey hunting to fly-fishing (another I have never tried). Unlike other hunts, you just sit there, trying to be completely silent; you can’t talk, and don’t even get any excessive from walking. I was just about to doze off when a Jake or a Hen came out of a tree directly above me. How I had not flushed it upon arrival is beyond me. It landed about 20 feet out from my decoy, just on the other side of a fence with a few tufts of grass intertwined throughout it. I shifted, moved a little able to see it’s head, but it’s breast was still hidden. Pull the trigger I couldn’t; I just could not make out a beard. I lost sight of it as it moved a little closer to my decoy. Next thing it is 30 feet down the trail to my left running towards my buddies decoy. You should have seen it run! It looked like it was drunk, running all stupid and what not. Majestic, not this road runner. Halfway between our two locations it darted into the bush. My buddy saw 2, one was too far off, and the other he too could not see a beard. At 10am I called it a day; my buddy, Mike, kept on, but with only similar success. Would I turkey hunt again .... Yes. Am I going to try fly-fishing? ... Not this year.. Entropy
  15. "extra plugs for all boat orifices" not to mention your buddy that ate all your pickled eggs the night before.
  16. Nice, bet you can't wait to get it out for the first time.
  17. Easy Pickings Monday morning I noticed a number castings on the lawn, so last night I turned the motion lights off outside and waited till 10 pm. There was a good rain yesterday evening, so I figured it should be ‘easy pickings’ for worms. Indeed it was after only 15 min I had caught 50 Dew Worms. Not bad considering it was the first time out this year picking and I missed about half or the ones I saw. I’m set for Saturday. Get out there and pick yours too !! Entropy
  18. Cliff, at least you'll float another day. What lake were you on?
