Welcome aboard. Lake wilcox is a pretty small lake that has public access and isn't too far . Another handy tool is Google Maps . Zoom out , and scout using satellite mode for ponds and such that are close to you ! You'll be surprised with what you find , just obey the property laws. By the way , what kind of tube do you float in ? Got a picture ? There are several members here that have float tubes and catch bladder-puncturing-pike in the summer !

As someone who was in your very situation last March (university application), I congratulate you on your boat purchase I guarantee you you're gonna love it. I can't help you much with the boat/truck suggestions, but make sure you develop some crazy time management skills so that when you get to university next year you can balance fishing with academics . It's not gonna be easy but you can do it . tight lines!

It's a great accessory , but nothing beats a simple life jacket . If you've tipped your canoe , and you complain that your gear is gone , then you shouldn't be in a canoe or kayak in the first place , and your place is on the couch . If you're paddling in waters so cold that hypothermia could hit you , it means A. you're crazy or B. hopefully you know that the risks are higher, and youve accepted them. My 2 cents.

You can breed your own wax worms/maggots by putting a bag of household garbage in a garbage bag , close it , put it in room temperature , and wait a week . When you open it you will find a huge population of maggots which work well for fishing . I never tried to do this purposely , but one time last summer I found out the hard way that this indeed works.
