On campus today (York U) I was coming out of an appointment and as I was approaching drop-box I noticed that beside it was standing a fellow wearing a jacket that read 'Extreme Angler' with the show's symbol of hook and thunder on it. I ask him : 'fan of the show?' He says: ' actually I am on the show! ' Turned out to be Mark Kulik who as it turns out works at York U as his day job We chatted for a little while about the show (which i have not seen since my WFN channel got cut off ) and then he had to go back to work Thought it was pretty cool , probably the last thing I expected to happen while at school , I guess professional anglers have day jobs too! Heading up to algonquin to do some interior camping with people from work . Been waiting for this since november as I've never been up there, but it should be very nice . We're gonna be setting up camp on Little Doe lake, and so I am wondering about what kind of fish we can expect to catch from a canoe and/or from shore ? Are we going to be wasting our time up there this time of year without downriggers ?

Taxes are a way that lets Canadians support fellow Canadians in times of need , and get the same treatment in return . Moreover it's a way that lets us ensure that the least among us are cared for. I think the bottom line here is that , the free market should not be allowed to take care of things that are vital to one's life , such as education, healthcare, policing, firefighting , 911 , and so many others . Why ? Because just like with healthcare, the market puts a price on everything , and when companies are profit driven, they have to make the tradeoff between saving a life and saving money. Or with education, the tradeoff is whether to ensure a solid education for all students vs. more money saved on school equipment, salaries, facilities, etc. Guess which alternative capitalism tells us to choose ? Just my 2 cents.

Have you seen his new documentary dubbed Sicko ? Call him biased, call him one sided , the man is a genius. I've watched the movie twice now, and I was left fuming after each time . We might have some problems with our health care system here , but got forbid one of us get kicked out of the hospital with broken ribs and collar bones because we weren't able to pay our medical bill. I think alot of the older aged board members here will appreciate this documentary . May we never privatize health care!

This reminds me of the story I read in the news about the guy who was told he was going to die from a tumor within 3 months , so he quit his job , maxed out all his credit cards , spent his life's savings away , only to find out that the doctors made a false diagnosis . Now he is suing the hospital . I wonder if these Mayan people are going to do the same thing ? Gotta love the primitiveness of ancient civilizations, compared to modern ones.
