  1. You'll be happy with a 7000 if you choose to go that route. It will do everything and do it well. The dang' clicker on that thing can wake the dead! LOL Like Lew said, eventhough it is 'only' a 5.3:1 ratio reel, the large spool and giant handle just eat up the line. I think my next muskie reel will be a 7001.
  2. I think its the clear water that makes 'em so dark?? I noticed that fish out of muddy water usually have that 'bleached' look to them. We did not measure or weigh that fish but I am certain it was 5lbs and about 21-22". She definately showed the boys how its done that wknd.
  3. Nice bass Ben. Extremely dark colours. Here is one my GF caught on Georgian Bay in the fall, not quite as dark but dark nevertheles This was a very happy moment in the boat as a couple of casts before that she lost another biggun at the side of the boat.
  4. i will 'dispose' of the two on the far right.
  5. I use Abu 6501 c3s which are 5.3:1 (off the top of my head) and Quantum Cabo CBC31PTSs which are 5.7:1. Abu 6500 C4s are 6.3:1 but I hear some stories of people blowing up the gears on the C4s.. too much stress with large muskie baits. I use the Quantums for jerkbaits and have tried them on inline blade baits, and abus for everything else. My recommendation is to stick with the C3 ratio in a 6500 class reel or move up to the 7000 if you are looking for a quicker reel. You pete maina reel would serve well as a trolling reel. I know I sound like an Abu commercial but thats just what I am familiar with. Other than maybe the Pete Maina reels, IMO you won't find another reel like the 6500 series C3 that can stand up to the abuse at this price point. Calcutta is the only Shimano worth buying for muskie fish'n IMO and you can get 3 or 4 C3s for the price of one Calcutta.
  6. havent had the time in recent years but I was in a few metal & punk bands back in the day. play geetar and bass.. neither too well and I can't read music.. all by ear.
  7. Dear Robin, You suck sincerely Raf.
  8. Wow there was a midget convention at Disney? Nice shots glad you had some fun Goran.
  9. If you want mail order try one of the musky shops.. pastika, rollie & helens if in toronto, JBs fishing depot on ronson dr or tightline out in pickering. LeBaron has best prices but limited selection.
  10. how's callander bay looking nipissing? we're booked jan 19-21st wknd. iffy to say the least.
  11. ohh heck Gary, this is a fish'n site?
  12. dba for a company in the trace detection business. we build explosive and narcotic "sniffers" among other things. if you've been through an intl airport or other high security area, you've propably been sniffed by our machines.
  13. doesn't mean they dont exist, but I am not aware of any virii embedded in mp3s. as long as you keep to only mp3s you should have nothing to worry about with limewire. limewire pro allows for faster searches and improved results.
  14. sorry to hear Darcy. We're booked for the 19-21st wknd in Callander with a different outfitter. Keeping fingers crossed. It may be first ice afterall!
  15. sure. run over the same spot over and over letting out more and more like each time till you hit it. write it down. rinse, lather and repeat for different depths.
  16. Dont go lowrance/navionics if you fish nippissing. Navionics has big fat zero coverage for the lake. garmin offers the most canadian coverage.
  17. 9.9 or even a 15. a 5 would not be enough IMO. you would have to push it hard.
  18. All the best buddy! Christmas babies unite!
  19. Thanks again everyone. Enjoyed a nice steak dinner last night courtesy of the girlfriend.
  20. There ya go. never go to dealer unless it's warranty work.
  21. that's the cost of dealer parts these days. aftermarket is certainly cheaper. doing as much work as you can yourself helps too. some of those labour quotes are outrageous. 150 for a DRL module? 120 for a foglight? the pwr steering pump on my cherokee died. $110 @ carquest, a couple of hours to drink beer and turn some wrenches and I'm back on the road. also, resisting the urge to purchase cars decked out with creature comforts helps when things invevitably start breaking down. my truck has manual windows.
  22. My cover's been blown. Several years on this site and I've been able to keep it from yas. Thanks a bunch everyone. Yep, I still get combo bday/xmas gifts but they are usually BIG!
