I pulled my 1965 9.5hp out of storage this spring. I didn't have it running at all last year and it started on 3 pulls. They are such simple little machines. My 25 hp Yamaha hates the colder weather and it took a few more pulls. on the first weekend of May when I went pike fishing.

I would try trolling small crankbaits or spoons in 25' or less with deeper water close by for lakers. Switch to jigs and twisters if you locate some fish. Perch on worms is always a relaxing day though.

The bite was over by 10 am for us. We ended the day with 11 walleye. Some under, some over and 5 in the slot. Some oos season muskie and a gazillion large mouth that were everywhere.

I don't think we will every really know unless you track the year classes. Not really sure how many shore spawners there are, many spawn in Bobcaygeon.

Weird, it was just a week or two ago that I was shaking my head at guys zooming up the lower end of Pigeon when the water was super low. People have to realize that there are some huge stumps in the middle that are safe during normal or high levels, but very dangerous during low water levels. I sure as heck would want to hit one at open throttle.

Had that happen a number of times when I go fishing in Quebec.

Heard Gardiner's name too much last night and not enough of James Van Reimsdyk's name. I'd be okay with Gardiner being moved and the other being gone with the end of his contract.

Definitely don't cheap out or you will have a bad experience. Get one with a good drag and anti backlash system. The Pfluegers are inexpensive, yet I have had really good luck with them for bass and pike set ups. I use a larger reel for muskie. Finding good used ones is definitely an option I would check out, I have bought a number of used bait caster with good luck.

I must say I am pleased that they are going to game seven. What I'm not pleased about is the number of defensive giveaways that happen one after another. I must have been shaking my head for the whole game. Freddie is the king right now. We need someone to get under Marchand's skin during the last game. Get him off his game.

I think the one downfall for lake spawners is that those beds get covered in algae. I'm not sure if that affects the spawn of not.

It was the Kawartha Anglers Association that did the work. It was along the east side of the lake just south of the Big island. I'm not sure the numbers are back, but it's on the right track if everyone continues to respect the slot and limit. Hopefully in five years we will see numbers back to normal or close.

It's looking like that.

I have to hand it to Boston for shutting things down after their second goal. Leafs needed to get that go ahead goal at that time. Their game changed after going down one at the end of the second period and Boston did their job. I believe they are still in their rebuild, are young, even with breaking Leaf records. Defense remains their nemesis.

It was put in place by a local group and the Ministry approved it. They say it's working. That's all I know

I fish Pigeon in the spring and target walleye prior to opening of bass. I did notice that we were catching more smaller fish last spring along with the larger ones, it was still tougher to find fish in the slot. Another thing that I noticed in the last few years is that the walleye move through some areas much quicker than they did years ago. There used to be a good spring walleye bite up unit July in shallow areas, but I find that it's done by the end of June or early July recently. These are just my observations from my experiences. I generally release all of the walleye I catch unless I have a guest and they want to keep some.

So, I'm learning from this conversation that extended warranties from contracted companies might not be a good idea. I don't think I have ever bought one other than my wife insisting on it once with a used car. I thought it was a waste of $$$$. Good luck Rizzo, I hope you can recoup some $$$$.

Derbies and tournies live on the edge. Some say they should be banned outright to solve any problems, issues or complaints. You guys can get quite confrontational.....

They had their chances with those couple of power plays, but seemed to wilt after no positive outcome. Some close calls, but that's no good in hockey. Bury the darn puck like some else said.

What the heck do maintenance records have to do with whether you used any of the extended warranty???? What a joke. I can see why you are so frustrated.
