  1. Actually the Revo Toro and Curado 300 are more than fine for many applications.
  2. Wrong. Switching hands is counterproductive and inefficient. As you said your right is dominant, why would you want to cast with your left? Conversely why would you want to switch hands and hold the rod with your weaker left hand (your hook setting arm)? Last Sept on the Attawapiskat tossing bucktails, most times the retrieve was started while the lure was still in the air. If you let the lure hit the water before starting your retrieve you'd end up with a clump of weeds on your hook. Try switching hands in mid cast and doing that. I can understand why someone would use a right hand retrieve casting reel if all their other reels were also right hand retrieve. Most people, yourself included, use left hand retrieve reels for everything else and cast with the right hand. Makes no sense.
  3. French River lodge in Ox bay at the confluence of the French and Pickeral rivers. Sounds like what you're looking for: http://www.frenchriverlodge.com/
  4. It's suddenly clear why you respond to every single hockey thread and put down the Leafs.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I had no idea Windermere was a part of the Shoals...
  6. If true this deal is on par with the one that brought Dougie to the Leafs from Calgary. It seems Calgary has a history now of overspending to aquire Torontos dregs. Also I'm amazed anyone picked up Blakes contract, wow. That's huge.
  7. There's literally endless possibilities. Here's a good one that I'd check into if I was looking. It's a water access private cottage on the Pickeral river downstream from hwy.69. It gives you access to miles and miles of beautiful water to explore including the lower French and the Bad River delta if you're adventurous. I'm familiar with the area which is why I looked for one here. Great fishing for all species. Boat rentals are available as well. http://www.montaguelodge.com/index.htm
  8. Okay now that's interesting because there is no provincial park on Windermere. I thought it was adjacent to but not part of the Chepleau game preserve.. Maybe it's inside the preserve? It goes without saying that crown land is free to camp on but I'd be interested in knowing if there are actually "marked" sites on Windermere. And if so why.
  9. What type of fish would you prefer to catch? Do you want a private cottage rental or a resort? Is water access okay or do you prefer drive to?
  10. CLofchik remember the thread early last June where you raved about the Spro Crank25 Shad? I subsequently bought 6 of them and have yet to catch a fish on one of 'em. Not giving up on them yet though. Agree with the Storm shads. I've tried them numerous times and caught nothing. Now that's surprising. Are you rigging them properly? You need a swimbait hook with lead on the shank so they run true..
  11. Amazing as usual. Rick mentioned the other day that they were for him (lucky sod ).
  12. I cram my 40 hour work week into 3 days, Mon-Wed each week including 2 night shifts. Many weeks I don't sleep from Mon morning when I wake up 'till late Wed night. That leaves me Thurs-Sun off each week. Lots of free time but I'm paying a price. I think I've ages 10 years since I started doing it.
  13. A quad cab of some kind would be nice, especially enroute to Nakina.
  14. Well done, sounds like a fantastic day! Good on you as well Trevor, seems I sold my gear to a kindred spirit.
  15. Incredible work, especially for someone who hasn't tied in years.
  16. Nice to see an update Ben. Looks as though you're enjoying winter. (Man I wish I could hop on a plane and join you for a couple days.)
  17. All 3 compre rods broke within 3-4" of the tip. One on a hookset, one when I pulled back on a snag, and one when I was rigging the rod pulling the line through the guides. If it happened once, fine. Twice I'm rethinking my choice. Three times strike 3 you're out. (Side note, all 3 of these rods were brand new models last year. I have a 12 year old Compre rod that's been through the ringer and is indestructable)
  18. Are you talking about Caribou lake and Wilson lake in Loring? Not the same place.
  19. A group of friends and I fished it several times in May 20-25 years ago and did pretty well. Big walleye and a couple of pike in the high teens. Open water prime time..... no problem.
  20. Funny for sure, I broke 3 different Compre rods last season.
  21. They're not bad. Not as good as a comparably priced St. Croix though. I'm not a fan of shimano rods at all.
