  1. North Bay Outfitters - Lakeshore Dr Billy Bob's Bait - Lakeshore Dr Bob's / Trout Lake Bait and Tackle - Trout Lake Rd Are all good places with resonable prices. Also, check out this site I came across, shows bait & tackle shops all over Canada. http://www.baitandtackle411.com/
  2. That is the most common answer I'm getting, but apparently these are made with hard lead, and may not pour as good as soft lead, especially in smaller applications. Thanks, that is a good idea. They've recently demolished an old hospital in North Bay and someone I know managed to get some of the lead they used to line the walls of the X-ray room. What about old lead pipe? I should be able to find this at any scrap yard, right?
  3. I've decided to try and make my own jigs and weights this year. I've just pickuped up a Lee Lead Production pot, as well as a several DO-IT brand molds. I have all my inserts and hooks and I am ready to go. I've read and watched alot of tutorials and learned alot of tips and tricks, not only on how to pour good quality jigs, but on all the safety precautions as well. But am sure someone here can give some good advice to a beginner. I will be mainly making tube jigs, walleye jigs, and drop shot weights. I'm also looking for a good cheap place to buy some lead. I've read that scrap yards are a good place, but understand that soft lead is recommended as it give a better end result. What kind of things would be made from soft lead? Thanks
  4. I tried that in front of my dog, the hair stood straight up on his back, and he growled like I never heard before. I immediatly removed the rug from my back lol
  5. Nice rug mount, the taxidermist did an excellent job!
  6. Very interesting! Quite different from a regular tourny.

  8. I though I'd need the tool too, but I was surprised how easily they were to screw in by hand. Also, you can simply bring a drill bit slightly smaller than the anchor screws and pre-drill your holes, makes screwing them in even faster.
  9. Really?? On Friday? But I had planned on fishing on Saturday! Please god give me one more day of fishing!
  10. A good year for sure! Not everyone can line up pics like those ones. Nice canoe, she is a beaut! ...especially when atop a truck buried in mud. Lol Looking forward to getting out again.
  11. It takes literally 30 secondes to pop up, alone, plus the time to anchor it down if needed. It was a little tricky the first few times, simply cause I didnt want to force anything and break it before I had it on the ice. But after puting it up and taking it down a few times, it got alot easier. Also nice and light.
  12. Yeah, it does a pretty good job at warming up my shelter. I think I paid around $160 for the tent. I'm glad I went with this purchase, not only is it cheaper then spending the $500 on the fish trap I wanted, but the weight and size is alot easier to handle, especially for bringing it indoors to melt off all the ice from the frezing rain lol Inside it measures 6'x6', but the hub style, there is alot of "elbow" room. Happy with the purchase overall, now we'll see if it can take the beating I'm about to give it lol Once the ice stiffens up again, we have to make it out together.
  13. Good job man! Nice pike! Sorry I didnt make it out after splake on Sat, went out for walleye instead. I was out for walleye on Sunday as well, we as well got rained on, but the fishing was good. Didnt do as good as you, but brought home dinner. Here's a pic of my new setup: Clam Vista, Lowrance sonar, and my Mr.Heater. I don't want to leave the shack now haha
  14. Thanks, now my girlfriend wants to come out next year lol Nice bass!
  15. I have been collecting Aeroplan for quite some time now, I should see how many points I have. But I do buy a spool of line every spring with the Canadian Tire $$ I have accumulated for a year lol
  16. Great post, made me laught cause I can relate all too well. Nice smallies too, good pics. I like your rig as well! The extra carpet on the bow is a good idea.
  17. You guys are nuts! But I am extemely jealous haha Too bad your efforts were not rewarded with a musky. I stored my boat before I went deer hunting and I really regretted it when I got back. lol
  18. Its a shame to see such good table fare go to waste. Hopefully if there was something illegal done, the culprits get caught.
  19. I use this rig all the time for almost any species, all you have to do is adjust the size. I never though of running a stinger though, good idea for when their short striking. I usually used a longer shanked hook for the larger sizes. Thanks for sharing!
  20. I really got into muskie fishing these past few years, and had considered joining the sudbury chapter. I too would be a member if they decide to extend a branch to North Bay.
  21. Oh Chad! haha I don't know how I missed this post lol Glad you (and your truck) made out in one piece.
