  1. Nice brookies! Good job!
  2. Thanks guys! I spent alot of time at it and it paid off. Here are two more nipssing brutes I hooked into yesturday. All fish were released by the way... I just enjoy keeping the two largest fish of the day for pics, or 5 biggest if im competing lol Wish I was fishing today, but I'm getting my gear ready for a trip to temagami. I'll make sure to post a report when I get back.
  3. Thanks Bud! I haven't been after some eyes since the spring, we should go out soon!
  4. I know, summer is not over yet! But it has been a long time since my last report so I'd though I'd compress it all into one. It has been a very busy summer, most my time has been spent fishing or working. I competed in several tournaments for both pike and bass, with some decent placings. Also spent every free minute of my time learning new water and mastering new technics. This year I focused on drop shotting for smallies, I experimented with all kinds of line, hooks and bait. I've narrowed it down to using 12 lb seagar fluro, using 1/0 owner wacky hooks. My best bait has been using either the 3" or the 4" senkos (wacky rigged on the dropshot) Also unsing 6'9" Med-Hvy, fast action St-croix mojo bass paired up with a Quantum Smoke Spinning reel. This is one of my new favorite technics for summertime smallie. As for largies, I focused my attention on flipping. This year I went to a longer rod: Kistler 7'8" telescopic Hvy. This really helped in not only pulling these fish from the thickest cover, but also helped on my flipping acuracy. Using 65 lbs braid, spooled on a 7:3:1 gear ratio Quantum Smoke Baitcaster. Owner 5/0 hooks and a tungsten weight. Anyways, almost done work, time to go fishing! Here are a few pics, enjoy! 1st Place - Nipissing - North Bay Bassmasters 1st Place - Nosbonsing - North Bay Bassmasters Couple smallies on the drop shot. 5. Just checked it out on google earth...looks do-able! Haha Thanks
  6. Wow, that must have been torture! As everyone has allready mentioned, trout spook easialy! I allways try to keep my shaddow off the water as well.
  7. A few of us from work are heading on a fishing trip and renting a house boat on temagami next week. We are going to bring a few boats to tow along and hope for good weather. We will prob be mainly going for lakers and walleye, but I'm sure I'll end up chasing some bass and pike too! Does anyone have any tips for this large body of water? Is early september an ideal time to go? Also, has anyone rented from Three Buoys House boats before, any reviews? Thanks, and I'll post a report when I get back.
  8. I've never owned a crucials, however I own and have fish the last 3 years with mostly St-Croix, and several mojo bass', both casting and spinning. I have never broke one yet, not even a guide. Very durable and great for the $. I would recomend them 100%
  9. WOW! Nice fish!
  10. Its funny you mention that Bernie. I was in the South Bay just last weekend with the identical map/chip as you and notice the same Island missing. From my experiences, they are USUALLY fairly acurate. However, rocks, shoals and such, are off by as little as a 1 meter up to 10-12 meters. But definitly make you aware that they're around. Of course, not meant for navigational purposes... As far as I know, it is the best chip for these systems. Also make sure to update your chip every once in a while, maybe that island will magically appear lol
  11. I tried both Generic 83/200 & Generic 50/200. Still no results. I also went through a few other, all the while keeping my hand on the transducer, but still no ping. I guess my next step is to remove it from the dash and make sure all the connections are intact. Any other suggestions if proper connection isnt the issue? Thanks
  12. Thanks! I'll give that a try tonight!
  13. Hey Guys, Just looking for a bit of advice in regards to setting a Minn Kota Fortrex & Lowrance HDS 5. It seems as if it is not connected to the transducer, I am getting no depth or water temp readings, not even getting random numbers just dashes (---). Under sonar settings, I found where you have to select the right transducer, but there is a very big list and I'm unsure which one corresponds with the built in transducer in the the Minn Kota Fortrex 101. Any help is apreciated. Thanks
  14. Thanks! I've read that if the rpms are too high, move up in pitch, and if they are too low move down in pitch. In my opinion, my motor seem to run kind of low rpms at full throttle.
  15. So I made it out on the water for the first time this weekend, and ended up leaving pieces of my prop and most of my skeg in the lake. After three years of owning my boat and fishing countless numbers of unknown water bodies, I'm surprised it hasnt happend sooner. But regardless, it has me looking for a new prop. Honda's spec for my motor call for a 9⅞" x 12" http://marine.honda.com/Products/modeldetail/BF30 But when I went in to a locate marine shop, they tried to sell me a 10 1/2" x 11" saying it was the right prop for my motor. I know you can play around with it a little with the dia. and pitch, and your RPMs come into play. I've done alot of googling and reading, but I've yet to come across an article that clears it up. Also, how do I deal with a motor without an RPM gauge. This motor is on a fairly heavy 16' Lund. Full floor and casting deck, no console, trolling motor and single 12v batterie up front, two passengers with gear and a full livewell. I get about 30 km/h. I dont care about my hole shot, I just want to bring up the top end a little. Thanks, any help or links are apreciated. EDIT: The fishing was great by the way...
  16. Thanks Pete! One thing that I dont have is an oil filter wrench. Is this something that I can simply do by hand, or is a tool required?
  17. Great! Thanks alot guys! Allways good advice as usual. I like the idea of using a hose to drain the oil, less mess the better.
  18. Hey eveyone! Its been a while since I've posted, but winters gone, so fish on! Anyways, I'm planning on taking the boat out of storage and changing the oil and filter. This is the first time I'm going to attempt this on my own. know the general procedures to changing and replacing oil and filters since I've been doing it for years on my atv. I'm just wondering if anyone might know where the drain plug is on a 2008 Honda 30HP 4 Stroke. I wont have access to a telephone or internet while im out there, so I want to have an idea going into it. Thanks
  19. Count me in, if there is still room!
  20. Nice fish! How do like those new Spin Shot Drop Shot Hooks?
  21. Haha nice! What a tease...
  22. A whole new meaning to catching a fish on the fly
  23. Nice buck! I love the chocolate antlers. Having them on the trail cam is cool too. That one makes mine look tiny. Nice shooting!
  24. Thanks Harrison! Sorry to hear about your father, it must be tough. I will certainly be framing that one!
  25. I was able to cakl out a doe using the Can beat. The call that is a little can that you flip. It works well too.
