  1. This post is going well, lots of good opinions here. It seems that 50 inches the magic number for ski chasers. Now I am hoping to see if people could guess at the following. What percentage of Kawartha Musky would you think are 50 inches plus. And then what percentage are 45 inches plus, then 40 inches and so on. I would imagine less than 1% of kawartha ski's would fall into the first category, and maybe 2-4% in the second. I know this is purely an arbitrary process, but it interests me.
  2. The northern lures came as a lot with the believer and the big o's . I didn't pay too much for them.
  3. I went to a local antique market today. I picked up a few fishing lures. I was just looking for some input. Here is a photo of the noteworthy lures I acquired: There is a jointed believer in there (that is the reason I bought the lures). It is in a colour pattern that I don't think they make anymore. There is 2 Baglye's big b's I think that I got from another vendor. there is a bagley's crawfish. There are 2 big o's i believe. Also there are three in the package canadian northern spoons. I also got an older tackle box. I think I did well. Here are some other pics.
  4. Wow, multiple fish over 45" in a day. I would love to see that. Maybe I'll get a chance this fall.
  5. From what I have read and heard the Kawartha strain of Musky are smaller than the ones you would find in the great lakes or St. Lawrence/Ottawa rivers. I would like to know if anyone agrees with me on this or not. Also, If the Kawartha musky are indeed smaller what should be considered a trophy? Maybe 45"+ for the kawartha's instead of the 50" number that seems to be the accepted trophy size for other areas. Just wanting to start a discussion, and see what people think.
  6. I like the second one. Quite witty.
  7. Your reports are making me suffer withdrawal symptoms. Congrats on a HUGE fish. Good to hear that you both had success on the water.
  8. You've had a great year so far Pete. I recognize a few of those fish for sure. Your posts make ke itch to get out even more, just wish I had more time.
  9. What a nice tribute. My only memories of my grandfather on my moms side are of him taking me fishing. He passed when I was very young.
  10. Brees with a TD...at least I managed to get him on one of my fantasy teams
  11. Where was that buzzer beater the last time we were out? Nice day, crappy weather, and lucky I fell asleep early or I may be divorced before I'm even married.
  12. As was previously mentioned there is a stocking program in lake simcoe. Presently musky fishing is closed on the lake. I'm sure more knowledgeable member will provide more accurate info or correct me on the following: The Musky that are being stocked in simcoe are the Georgian Bay variety. Apparently they spawn in deeper water than Pike giving them a better chance of coexisting with Pike. I think I read on a website that the natural population of musky was decimated by the invasion of pike. If you caught a 32 inch musky that is a good sign as they apparently can start to reproduce at thus size. What was the colour pattern of the musky (banded or spotted)?
  13. Congrats, Being new to ski hunting myself I can tell you that it's addictive.
  14. Those are some nice pics. Thanks for the report.
  15. I'm very sorry for your loss.
  16. I'm heading to Nfld for my brother's wedding. I'll finally get to use the 4wt fly rod that he made me for christmas. I don't generally fly fish so it should be fun. His bride to be's family have a house just outside the city on a lake that holds small brookies. Last time I was their the biggest boated was about a pound. It won't be an extreme Nfld fishing trip with monster brook trout, but should be fun anyway.
  17. I have head there are rainbows in lac tremblant. As a kid I fished from a dock there once and caught some panfish. I think there are a variety of public beaches on the lakes up there. I know there is a least one on lac tremblant. You could launch a kayak from the beach. I would suggest bringing a bass gear and fishing obvious structure. From my experience topwaters can be a good choice this time of year, Good luck and post a report if you get anything.
  18. Good to hear about the lures. I dropped some coin on 2 body baits today. They look good, but I may have to purge soon. You can always pick up another pair at CT. Just tell them you want last weeks sale price. They should give it to you.
  19. Sorry about the car. Spent a week outside of Tours a few summers ago at a friends Aunt's house. Your pics reminded me of the good times.
  20. It was a great day...for Pete. Maybe next time I can break the 25" mark.
  21. Congrats. The first is a huge rush. It is dangerous though. Once you catch musky fever it's hard to recover, but in my mind its not a fever you want to get over.
  22. Sweet report. That musky story is insane.
  23. Those are some awesome buys Pete. Were you at the Markham store?
  24. I'm getting married soon and just got into musky fishing and baitcasters. The reason why I mentioned getting married. Is because I've been told to buy now cause once kids cone the disposable income dries up. I've spent at least 600 on baitcasters. I don't even want to guess how much I've spent on musky lures, I've probably got 50 lures now.
  25. That was a nice read and a great report.
