  1. Damb Cudz.. It looks like you have lady Simcoe figured out. Nice Smallie!
  2. Nice ride. Lots of season left to break her in too. Have fun!
  3. Not really the exact same location. We plan on hitting the water as close to 69 as possiblle, then heading east to Horseshoe Bay area. I don't know if we'll make it that far up the river. A friend told me about a outpost neer hwy 69 called La Casse. Anyone ever here of that place??
  4. What the hell!! I signed on tonight to post questions about this same location. I'm going this weekend. Is there a "French River Fishing Forum"?? I need to know what kind of live bait to bring, and what depth to target some eyes???? A good boat launch and safe parking would help too. It looks like all the good PM's have been sent. If there's any left over, send em my way Please
  5. The trip from OS to Wiarton along the water makes for some nice views. Thanks for the pics. It's to bad you got skunked!
  6. I started using the Palomar last year on the Hard water. Needed a quick knot to tie so I could get my hands back in my gloves I use if for almost everything now.
  7. I have a 36lb Minni mounted to the stern of my 14' aluminum. It pushes it along pretty good. It would be nice to have some more juice though. I got the motor for 1/2 price, then bought the biggest batery I could find. It runs for a long time without needing a charge. That about the only good thing about it! I would definitly pass on the motor you've shown above. You'll just end up wanting to upgrade after a few times out on the water.
  8. If 6 bass caused the paint to were off, what would 6 pike or musky do to the paint job? You spend the extra money for a fancy paint job, but after a few fish (or even just bouncing around in the tackle box) they all end up looking the same. They do look like nice lures though. Anyone else have any issues with the paint wearing off??
  9. You have a 90 2 stroke and a kicker 4 stroke running on the same tank? I guess your 90 is oil injected? If not, that may be your issue
  10. That's my exact rig. My PB is also a 47.5" Musky.
  11. I aggree that the motor was the best part of the deal. I offered to buy just the motor from him. He's going to sit on it for a week or two and get back to me if knowone wants to buy the whole package. Last year I bought a similar package, 14' deep/wide aluminum, galvanized trailer w/new bearings, and a 15Hp motor (89 Merc w/dirty carb). That all costed me $800. I thought that was a great deal!
  12. I found a deal on a 14' aluminum boat (~1970’s), 15Hp Mariner (1986), and trailer. All for $850. The boat was in need of a COMPLETE overhaul. It had several leaks, and required some structural work to make it a good solid boat again. The trailer was solid, and only needed a good paint job and some bearing maintenance. The motor was solid, starts first pull, and had great compression. I already own a good 14' aluminum combo. I was thinking about buying this boat to fix up over the winter, and sell come summer time. At most, I think I could have got $1400 for the package if I fixed all the leaks in the boat. I decided not to buy it because the all the work that had to be done on the boat. It would have take me weeks to fix up the boat, and lots of materials. My question to fellow OFC'rs: Do you think there's any money in flipping boats?? (I'm not talking about yachts here, just small boats in the under $5000 range)
  13. I have the same motor (89 merc), and have had the exact same issues in the past. For me, it was a plugged up carb that needed a good cleaning. For a potential quick fix, you can start the motor with the cover off. Manually throttle up the motor by pulling the throttle lever on the side of the carb. That way you can rev up the motor without it in gear. May clean out your carb a little. It's an easy thing to try.
  14. I have some designs for a boat cart I was going to build a few years back. The thing bolts onto the back of any boat, and retracts up out of the way when your in the water. You need to know how to weld/cut/drill aluminum though. If your interested in the prints, PM me your e-mail address, I can send them over.
  15. The only time I've kept a "big" fish (38" Pike, only fish caught that day) was during a group camping trip, and I had about 25 mouths to feed. Other than that, every big fish I've ever caught has gone back into the drink.
  16. I had a very similar issue with my motor. There was a wire coming from my kill switch (15 Hp motor) that was had been rubbing on a part of the motor. It eventually war though plastic wire casing, and left bare wires, which was causing grounding issues. It was a finikity issue, cuz sometime the bare wires would be touching causing issues, and other times there wouldn't and the motor worked fine. I would chase all the wires on your motor and make sure you don't have bare wires. If so, get some electrical tape and zip ties.
  17. I can NOT stand Al Lindner! That guy really rubs me the wrong way. How much did you get paid to pump that add Al. Kickingfrog probly said it better then I did.
  18. If I go way back. I used to live at the cottage for a few weeks every summer while in high school. Fished every day. I guess that would be about 20 days in a row. Havn't done that in a long time though. In recent years, the longest would be 7 days while on a camping trip.
  19. Thanks for the great report! My wife and I are thinking about starting a family of our own. Seeing reports like this gives me something to look forward too! Thanks, F-is-H
  20. The Canadian Tire on Bayfield St in Barrie (just off the 400) sells charts. Their selection is limited most of the time. I didn't see one for G-Bay when I was there last, or I would have bought it my self. I think most Canadian Tires sell charts. You can always call them, and see what they have in stock. If they have the one your looking for, they may hold it for you. It's not much of a detour to stop in there, if they have it.
  21. Thanks Drifter. Now all the people in my office are looking at me weird cuz I just busted out in uncontrollable laughter.
  22. http://www.crowleymarine.com/ I don't know what your exact definition of a help site is. The link above have a large variety of free exploded/assembly drawings tons of motors/components. It's helped me work on my motors many times. Not all makes are on tihs website though.
  23. http://www.mcmaster.com/#plastics/=33al7z I use Mcmaster Carr all the time. If the link above doesn't work, then just google them, or go to McMaster.com and search through the Raw Materials section. They have a decent selection of 1" Nylon raw material. You can have it delivered to your house. You just need a credit card. I've used them for work many times, and they've never let me down.
  24. Well, that little guy was under 2 lbs. I'll be satisfied when I pull a 5 pounder out. Oh no.. I think I feel an itch coming on.
