  1. It came with the cantilever. Picked up a Bushnel shotgun scope. Heading out skeet shooting in about 20 minutes. Got 100 rounds ready to go!
  2. I enjoyed reading this post. I just got into the walleye fishing this year. Been doing great so far. As for the trolling motor. If all your using it for is the canoe, then a small minn-kota would be my suggestion. I run a 36# on my canoe, and it works great.
  3. Thanks Brian. I just called BPS and after a 10 minute wait on hold, I got a guy on the phone. What he told me was it's a 2 barrel combo, and the rifled barrel is not cantalevered, just iron sights.. I think I'm going to hit Lebarons tonight, there open till 9:00.
  4. Just got off the horn with Lebarons, and then Trombly's. In stock at Lebarons, and $80 cheaper then Trombly's. Trobly's won't price match Lebarons.. (not the guy I talked to anyways!) Looks like I'm heading south this weekend instead of north.. Thanks AzuluSpookd! You saved me some cash!
  5. Thats just messed up man! There are some sick people out there.. I'm not to worried about any OFC'ers coming and beating my wife just to get my registered shotguns.. There are tons of guys on this site that are open about hunting and owning guns. Thanks for you'r input though, very interesting situation. Outdoorsman, I'll call them today and see if they will price match. Thanks for the tip.
  6. I'm going to call Lebarons tomorrow and see if they're going to have that deal on any time soon again. Thanks for the links eh! I thought $650 was good. Lebarons is $90 cheaper..
  7. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model-870/model-870-express-combos.aspx Picking up my new shotgun this Friday and I'm super Pumped (no pun intended!!). Black synthetic. I would have prefered Camo, but black works too! Getting an 870 express 3 barrel combo. Turkey, waterfowl, and deer (rear cantalevered for a scope). Gunna pick up some skeet, and break her in before the duck season starts!! It's on sale this weekend at Tromley's for $650!
  8. Your price range is pretty good for the age of motor your looking at. There's lots of motors in the 1970 to 1985 era for under $600. You just have to hunt around for them. Like I said, I bought a 1982 Evenrude with two parts motors for $575. I sold one of the parts motors for $150, then used that money to replace the seals, impeller and bottom end oil. As for what to look for in a motor. If you're not familliar with a outboards, you really should take it to a marine mechanic for a quick look. Or find a budy who knows about outboards, and bring him/her with you when you go to look at it. EDIT: LINK ADDED http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-boats-watercraft-powerboats-motorboats-3-Mercury-20-HP-Motors-W0QQAdIdZ222721970 This is just an example. By the looks of it, these would require some work..
  9. My grandpa has a 12' aluminum with a 6Hp Merc he bought new last summer. It's a little groggy getting up on plane with two people in the boat. If you add the extra weight of a casting platform, and a trolling motor/battery, you’re going to feel under powered for sure. The 6hp tolls very slow, and is nearly silent. Not to mention it's great on gas. I wouldn't be putting a trolling motor on there with the gas motor. I guess if your getting in to weeds looking for those buckets though, you may want a trolling motor.. As previously mentioned, a 9.9 2 stroke would be a much better fit if you’re adding the weight of a trolling motor and casting deck. There not a very heavy motor either IMO.
  10. Eye glasses Minnow bucket still full of minnows Someones "night line" they left out on the ice over night. Had a 10lb lake trout attached to the end of it that was swimming in circles. Ended up wraping around my line.
  11. It sounds like a decent sized dingy. Rated for a 35Hp motor, and 10 adults. I wouldn't be going any less then a 20hp. As for pull start, or electric. If you go electric, then you have make room for a battery. But if your kids are going to be driving it, a 20Hp pull start my be a little to much to pull over. I have a 25, and the pull start can be a little hard on the shoulder at times. I've run in a 12' dingy with 4 people in the boat, and a 9.9. It was a very slow run, we couldn't get on plane. As for price range. HP isn’t the only factor. Condition is a very big part of it. I picked up a 25hp OMC, with two parts motors for $575. It’s a 1982. Your price target seems reasonable; you’ll just have to look around for a while. Look on Kijiji every day..
  12. That's the one with the leg powered drive system in it right?? How does that work. Is it tough on the legs? What happens when you get into weeds with it, does it jam up?
  13. Will a 410 even break the skin on a bear?
  14. That's what i figured Garry. Thanks a lot for all the info guys. I'm about to hook my boat up, and get the heck out a dodge! I'll post my results either Sunday or Monday if we have any luck!
  15. I hope Alexcba is right.. Two great shows for sure. I can only take so much bass fishing eh.
  16. My wife had the day off today, so she went down to T.O. with a friend. I got her to pick up some 50lb flouro leader from BPS. Thanks very much for all the input! What knot to us use to tie a 50lb flourocabon leader to a swivel???? I'm giong to use a double Uni for going from braid to flouro. I usually use a palomar (edit on spelling thanks spiel!) to tie onto the swivel.. Will a palomar work for 50lb flouro???
  17. Ya, I was thinkin 20lb is little on the light side. I hate loosing lures! Looks like it'l be steel for this weekend.. I always feel so "visible" when i'm using steel leaders. It has to stand out to a fish down there?
  18. 20lb Mono is heavy enough eh.? Thanks garry I wish CTC would sell flouro leader..
  19. Hi Gang, With the overwhelming reviews on here for Power Pro braid, I thought I’d better try some out. I’ve used Spiderwire, and Fireline in the past. The Spiderwire is a pain in the , but no complaints about the Fireline. I grabbed a spool of Power Pro 30 lb test, and plan on testing it out this weekend pike fishing on G-Bay. I found that I had to sharpen my knife before I could even cut through the stuff! It’s really tough stuff!! This made me wonder. Do I need to use a leader when pike fishing with this stuff?? What do you think? P.S. I realize I should be using a heavy flouro leader, but I don’t have time to run down to Bass Pro before I leave to pick some up. So it’s steal or nothing..
  20. You are very correct sir. Definitively need ear protection! As for the blonde I depends on who you borrow the air hammer from..
  21. Before you go plastering your boat with JB weld, and sealant, you should try tightening the leaky rivets. I had an old aluminum that leaked like a sive. Me and a budy thightened all of the rivets. There where a few that couldn't be tightened, so I marked them, and sealed with 3M 5200 marine adhesive sealant. I've used JB weld in the past, and it ended up cracking on me, and the leak came back. 3M 5200 will not crack, it takes a long time to cure, and remains flexable once cured. To tighten the rivets, I used an pneumatic air hammar on one side, and a heavy sledge hammer head on the other side. Just a few hits with the air hammar, and they tighten right up. It took about an 1-1/2 hour to do the entire boat. Doesn't leak a singe drop now.
  22. IMO they're worth every penny. I've been using one for a few years now, and have no complaints. Like other have mentioned, the portables are great on the back of a boat, and even better on the ice. I never hit the ice without my Humminbird 565. It will mark the depth of the water through the ice, you don't even need to drill a hole!
  23. Come on man. I'm not saying that the OPP should switch their entire marine fleet to canoes. That's ridiculous.. But if they're out on a small no motor lake on general patrol, why not use a canoe, or a square back with an electric?
  24. If there are no motors allowed, I don't think the OPP should be able to run motors either. I have been stopped by MNR guys paddling canoes before, why wouldn't the OPP do the same?
