  1. Abu's Revo Toro is on sale at LeBaron's starting at $195, which is a pretty fair deal, Mike
  2. CANO takes me back, just thought of Harmonium. Thanks!
  3. You couldn't trick me into going back to mono. I have a couple of spools of flouro I'll try with jerk baits this year, though. I use 15 lb braid for top water with 1 ft titanium leaders (when walking the dog), and 15 to 30lb, depending on the size of the jerk baits I'm using. The 15 is fine enough that it doesn't affect the bouancy of the lures I use. I find I get so much more feel with braid that when I use mono, everything just feels numb. Just my opinion....
  4. I like The Next Bite for sure, but also Fishin' Canada because I identify with alot of the places and way those guys fish.
  5. Spiel, with picks like that, I'm in danger of losing the whole afternoon to the Youtube time machine!
  6. With all the mechanically-inclined members on the board, I thought you might find this interesting. It's been around a few years, but it's a wonder no one got to work on it earlier. NF, btw.... "]http://www.engineeringtv.com/video/Opposed-Piston-Opposed-Cylinder
  7. I've had a Trion in the boat for the last two years. I use it for smaller cranks and some top waters. The felt drag works smoothly, and the reel has been reliable. The only issue I've ever encountered is that occasionally, the bail would close if I really tried to muscle a cast. Great reel for the money.
  8. Henry's
  9. I Like Creemore Lager for sure, Mill Street's Tankhouse Ale, and Steam Whistle if it's super-cold as a pilsner, in the summer. Keith's like Creemore, isn't so much of a micro anymore, but I enjoy their ale on tap after I play squash, and want something not too heavy. Anytime I'm in Quebec, I love just about anything from Unibroue, but can't really imagine drinking the more Belgian-types all the time. In terms of beer can chicken, it's the only way to fly! I always put some of the rub in the beer can, along with a crushed cove of garlic. It's pretty hard to mess up, cause the beer keeps the chicken from drying out.
  10. Nothing Throws a Mercman like a St. Croix....
  11. Mike, I haven't been around much, and missed all of this. Just like they've said, everyone here stands and is pulling for you!
  12. My buddy Timo took this 50 incher from the Kawartha's, nice fish, brutal picture!
  13. Must have been cold, look at the ice on the rod, and the tail of the fish. Congrats to Dale for his dedication!
  14. HJ 14 in Perch and glass, same with XR 10a ans 12s. This time of year, a larger Big O in Natural Crawdad wouldn't hurt. either. Good luck, it's a great place you're going to!
  15. Terrific looking fish, and just in time for Father's Day!
  16. What did you catch her on, Roy?
  17. I back on to a ravine in the middle of Toronto, and have seen deer, cardinals, pilated woodpeckers, the two red tailed hawks that live in the area, and a Great Horned Owl, which I had never seen until this spring.
  18. Love the stuff for bass. I use the 5 inch leeches.
  19. Don't forget a Jake or Grandma, and for sure, a Bulldog.
  20. I know the area well. As Irish said, you have to be VERY careful, especially on the west side of Frying pan, and the surrounding area. Alot of the shoals aren't marked. Indeed, your salmon buddy may have his work cut out for him; I don't think it's been great in recent years. The pike fishing can be terrific in the area, and the bass fishing is as well. You'll have to look hard for walleyes, but I think it's decent a few miles south. Grab a chart and look for the traditional shoals and sharp breaks to depth, and you'll find yourself some pike, and smallies too.
  21. If you fish real deep, then red can be a good choice. Apart from that, the rest of my line is "Moss Green" or somemthing like that, except for a blue spool of Sufix Fuse I've been using. Certainly, if you're using flouro leaders, it doesn't seem to make any difference; at least, not in my experience.
  22. I drove by the famous fence today. damn ugly as hell, and I have no idea of what it's supposed to do; after all they had to interrupt its continuity to allow for peoples' driveways.
  23. Smallies here, but Buckets are more than welcome as well.....
  24. I fished the first to weekends of May, and we got a decent number of fish, but aside from a traditionally reliable spot, we had to cover a lot of ground to get them. The weekend of the 8th, what with the snow and every thing else, was a little tougher.
