  1. So that was you who scared the hell out of me at Narita in the summer of 1993!
  2. You will see mostly European vacationers there, and that means two things: lots of topless women walking around the beach, vitatiated by an equal number of fat dudes walking around in speedos! The Lord giveth with one hand and taketh with the other.
  3. Epic indeed, but worth every minute spent reading it!
  4. Okuma is a Taiwanese company despite its Japanese-sounding name, and so I suppose your better bet is in HK or Shanghai. Just ask the front desk or a cab driver for a nearby tackle shop.
  5. Getting way overweight makes even a bass ugly!
  6. Thanks for your input guys. So long the chart is readable and not too inconvenient, I'm good. I looked at the new crossovers, but they tend to be a bit pricy or have a lousy battery life. Lowrance iWay600C is 700 bucks, while the battery on the much cheaper XOG lasts only a couple of hours. My laptop would last longer on a boat than XOG!
  7. I'm thinking of buying a hand-held GPS and a Navionics chip to go with it. I like Garmin76CSx, but from what I understand it's not compatible with Navionics. That leaves me with Lowrance H2Oc. My concern at this point is the puny size of the screen on any hand-held devices. So the question is: can you read the chart on a hand-held GPS reasonably well, as in hey, this is rather useful, rather than, geez, what a waste of money? Any input would be very much appreciated.
  8. Killing us softly, aren't ya!
  9. Let them keep it all; we've had enough this year.
  10. You just answered your question there: whatever species that's in season. Just make sure that your tackle and approach are appropriate for the fish you are targeting--throwing a buzzbait to catch a perch would not be looked upon kindly. Also, if you end up hooking more bass than the fish you are targeting, then you are just out of luck: move to another location.
  11. Don't want to pay income taxes? Flaherty gave us the vehicle to do do so yesterday. Invest five grand in the new tax-free savings account next year, make a killing in the stock market, quite your job, and live off the proceeds. Not a single cent will be taxed--no capital gains tax, no dividend tax, not even interest income tax. Alternatively, you could win 649!
  12. Is it just me that read Jeff's explanation, that he (or his client) kept the fish because it couldn't be revived? So much anger for so little reason.
  13. The anticipation of spring is the only redeeming quality of winter. It teaches you about hope. LOL.
  14. They might as well outlaw fishing altogether.
  15. I swung by LB yesterday and saw that the prices on Shimano reels are finally down--about time, too! Curado was around $210; still pricier than in the states, but that's 50 bucks less than what it used to cost.
  16. What a report to cap off your years in Ontario! If you find yourself missing Ontario, you can always move back, for good!
  17. I knew this was coming sooner or later; great report!
  18. 300 is just a larger reel with higher line capacity: 240 yds of 12 lb line. I doubt you need so much line for bassin'.
  19. I've stashed away all my fishing gear for the year, but seeing the white stuff still makes me shed a tear.
  20. You might want to try these: Cocoons BPS has them for around 60-70 bucks. They've been working like a charm so far.
  21. Oh, man, thanks for some good laughs, snog. And those are some nice pike, too!
  22. This has to be the best fish porn of the year!
