Connect the capacitor in parallel with the battery because it acts like a battery, sourcing charge the same way. I think you would need a much larger cap, 1000 microfarads, rated say for 20 V. Remember that the voltage is dropping because of the current draw that occurrs while cranking. The cap needs to provide all the current for the cranking if you don't want the dreaded droop. That will definitely help with the flicker. On the otherhand, this capacitor is going to be large and pricey - can you live with the flicker? Gerritt, talk to Emil Icefisherman. Canuck2Fan, I like Lew's advice on the BBS stuff. He seems to have picked a good price point too. Columbia waterproof breathables are good, but the branded Goretex is a definite notch up the pole. I got the BPS 100 MPH jacket and bibs, I can justify the sticker as that will be the last rainsuit I buy, and hope to get 25 years of use out of it. It is tough and well made with nice touches like the neoprene cuffs. The only thing I don't like about the suit is the obnoxious BPS branding and badges on their products. If I spend that amount of coin, why should I advertise the store? They should pay me for wearing that gingerbread on my clothing. I also second the idea about two layers underneath for ultimate comfort in cool rainy weather; a tight fitting base layer, and a looser bulky layer for warmth, both polypropylene fleece. Canuck2Fan, I also like your idea of a birthday shopping trip with Pa. Go to Basspro instead of LeB for some great gear, you are looking at some med - high end gear and BPS will give you a better selection, I think.

I picked up a hard copy yesterday of fishing regs for 2008 - 2009. The districts are completely redrawn, with Anstruther in the same region as Algonquin, for example. I find em much easier to read, a good change in format.

Attaboy, Kemper. You did better than I did today. Bill Parker showed me a spot on the Credit this morning, and gave me my first lesson in float fishing rivers. There were no fish for either of us, but I appreciated his patience and the advice he provided. After a couple of hours, I thought it was time to return the favour, so I introduced him to pho at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant. He took to it like a native, and handled the chopsticks, chili paste and hoisin like a pro. Thanks again, Parker. We will find a fish next time, and if not, we can find some pho for sure.

Responding to HearingFish, I train my staff regularly on hearing protection. The exams are fine, but they do squat in protecting you. Your employer provides the gear, it's up to you to wear it. If you have to speak up to be heard in your work environment, you need plugs or muffs. Do you want to be able to talk to your grandkids or wha'? As for wearing your mp3 or Ipod for hours every day at full blast, you are wrecking your ears little by little, causing damage that cannot be fixed. Hearing aids are not the answer. Great price, Tony! It's even a few bucks cheaper than out of GPS city in Alberta, with no PST. This gps is highly recommended, friends. Get a 2 gb storage card and put the whole topo map of Canada on your handheld. Amazing sensitivity too.
