Richter Lake Fly-in Report
lookinforwalleye replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Sorry guys I did bring the sign but left it in the cabin -
Well after months of anticipation the day finally arrived wasn`t really looking forward to the 14 hour drive to Nakina but you know once you get get going it`s not all that bad, ya right who am I trying to kid 14 hours behind the wheel sucked! Arrived early Saturday morning at Nakina International and checked through security and weighed the gear and got loaded up. My son Brad was exicted about the flight perhaps a little too exicted I think he was looking to get a little seat time behind the stick in the end he settled for the co-pilots seat! An hour later we arrived at the cabin our home for the week and most didn`t waste much time in doing one of the two things we came to Richter to do... fish! The Walleye fishing was pretty consistant through out the week nothing insane like the earlier groups reported but we had no trouble catching limits of eye`s. 39 The pike fishing was consistant as well with lots of snot rockets but no real monsters Richter is not a trophy pike lake by any means. And the big Pike for the week a 38.5" fish tried really hard to get to the 40" mark just came up a little short. The other thing I mentioned earlier was eating and boy o boy did we eat, rabbit stew, bacon wrap Walleye, baked Walleye, deep fried Walleye, I think we deep fried everything. I am glad I had my cholesterol done the week before! Ben and Joe doing up the bacon wrappers! Rob sampling the bacon wraped Walleye. The preferred cooking appliance for the week! There are a few issue`s that should be looked after to ensure the comfort and safety of the customers and I am sure Eddie will have these issues ironed out before next season. The cast of characters for the week made this trip truly exceptional and I would not hesitate to share a cabin with these guys again. Rob and Jim Rice, Joe Carr hope I spelled the name right, Ben Beattie, and my son Brad. I would be remiss if I did not give props to our "house boy" Craig he went out of his way to make sure our trip went as smooth as possible, hang on to this guy Eddie he knows how to treat your customers!!!

Nope water was low,Craig our cabin boy(sorry Craig) did manage to go up part ways to retrive a motor. I will talk a little more about Craig in my report later. The connection to the north may be doable with higher water.

It was a great trip the cast of characters made it memorable. No worries about bear smell in the plane I think we did a pretty good job of masking it. My son got some underwater video Roy but I have not seen it yet. My report will be up a little later. Well done Rob.

Wow I didn`t realize fishing could be so organized your like a bunch of Felix Unger`s, if I sleep in and miss the morning bite who cares I`ll try again tomorrow,if I have one beer too many in the afternoon and miss the evening bite who cares I`ll try again the next day. I don`t over think it!!!

Try Hogg rock for smallies, they love a chartreuse grub! -
Less than a week ago you were in desparate shape and now your looking to buy an RV. Rv`s are expensive and costly to maintain and gas is 1.30/litre and not going to get any cheaper and Rv`s get around 7 mpg, and you gotta park these things too. Must be one heck of a job you landed, not trying to be mean or anything but if there is extra money after the bills are paid ya might want to stash it in case the new job does not work out.

I am still not convinced this is real, wouldn`t surprise me if it was the same that put up the MNR sign on his dock. Perhaps Craig Smith was by and told him to remove the sign and now he`s upset. -
Way to go Dave this is the Internet don`t ya know, now there is gonna be atleast 2 people there!!! Ya lucky bugger!

Daytrip on Scugog tomorrow... Any Tips?

If your luanching at Goreski`s just as your coming out of the channel to the right you will want to fish that whole stretch of bank, the banks are under cut. Flip a jig/pig,senko, a lot of nice bass call that undercut bank home. If you plan on fishing in the evening you might want to try drifting through the thick weeds adjacent to Goreskis dunking a chartreuse spinner bait into the pockets, when the eyes are in the mood it can be a lot of fun!!
