  1. Gonna try for eyes on Pigeon Monday. Folks will have left them alone on the weekend. Been a disappointing spring for me so far. Tired of blaming mayflies. ?
  2. Ya. Good article in MaCleans magazine. People hooked on narcotics taking what they think are light drugs are sold fentanyl instead and paying the ultimate price. These people are to be pitied not condemned Narcotic addiction is incredibly powerful and good people get hooked after taking these meds for pain. Sad but real.
  3. Crazy! I know a husband and wife that were trolling in a tinny and were run over by a ski boat. The wife in the front reading a book had to me medivaced by heli to Sunnybrook with multiple fractures. Beware out there.
  4. As far as I know they close the lobster season in the Maritimes for 2 months while they are moulting. The timing varies with the region. I know every time we travelled to PEI in July their season was closed. During these times you can still get fresh lobster but they've been stored in pounds and are losing flesh.
  5. I've been disappointed with live bought lobsters. Most of the time they have claws that are half full of water when opened. I think it is when lobsters are stored in pounds and basically live off their flesh. I'd pay extra to have fresh caught lobsters sent from the Maritimes. Not sure how to ensure fresh caught.
  6. Rumour has is that cabbage is the best type of weed to find eyes. Can't say it's my experience. Harder to fish
  7. When I picked the used sailboat/trailer up, it had no plates. Drove it home anyway. It's a Proper galvanized boat trailer with lights. So if I make a well built platform on it and get plates it would be legal on the roads? I guess it should say on it "max weight" somewhere.
  8. Hi Guys. I have a small trailer that came with a Hobiecat sailboat. Not using it. Thought I could use it to trailer the ATV. Would this be legal to convert using plywood and 2x4s and u-clamp everything to the frame. Homemade ?
  9. You ask most people and they will say a skunk has only one stripe.
  10. Hey. What is a glide bait?
  11. As a vet I can tell you a heartworm test every other year is a good idea. We also test for 3 tick diseases including Lyme on the same sample. Tick and flea prevention should start ideally in April as soon as it greens up. Heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention meds should start June 1. Your vet will guide you as to which meds are appropriate for your dog. Seeing lots of ticks this spring and quite a few Lyme positive dogs. Some folks don't participants in routine parasite prevention but they are gambling with their dog's health Cheers
  12. They are forecasting 8-10 C Sunday for a high.?
  13. Thanks Big Cliff. I baby my Yammy. Not so much the mower ? That lure. Works for me in June and July. Can't catchem in late summer. Gotta work on that.
  14. Eyes. Trolled cranks, husky jerks, Jigged bucktails. Swammers. Shallow. Deep. Weed beds. Windy shores. Usually never strike out in June.
  15. Fished North Pigeon for 6 hrs last 2 days. A few oos smallies and a ski. Hotdogs for dinner. ? Either I suck or blame the mayflies. Nice chop. Shoulda been good Water 65 on surface. Quite a few mayflies clinging to the cottage. Some green weeds but not much. Getting tired of hotdogs. ?
  16. Ok Cliff. Be there around 8 ish. Thank you.
  17. I asked about this mower and got advice last year. Now could be time for a funeral. 4.5 hp Briggs and Stratton small mower. $150 new. Bought new 5 yrs ago for cottage. Did well for 2 yrs. I have a 15-20 degree slope to cut. Mostly cut side to side. A bit up and down. Used some old gas once. May have been 3 yrs old. The problem may have started then. Starts well. Runs at lower rpm than did initially and sputters all the time. Worse when moving back and forth. Tried fresh gas. Premium ethanol free gas. Seafoam. Gas line antifreeze. New plug. Today won't start after half of lawn done. Fires a bit but won't stay running. Took plug out. Lots of carbon but gap ok. Sanded it clean. No difference. Do I get her repaired ? Likely not worth while since new one $150. Is the slope to blame? Get a different engine in a new one? 2 stroke perhaps? Due to the slope a small, light mower is best. This one was perfect until lately What would you small engine guys recommend? Thanks Peter
  18. May 20-30. Spent a bundle today. Don't tell the wife. ?
  19. That's right. It's illegal for a dairy farmer to sell you raw milk. The reason is for your own safety. There are several potential pathogens you can pick up. The farmers drink it raw themselves but they are used to it. If you're not, DON'T! Especially kids. Homo milk is barely watered down. About 3% fat.
  20. Why don't they pay athletes and coaches based on performance?
  21. Would buy a lot of lures. Maybe even a Ranger.
  22. Those are 2 entirely different scenarios. From a safety point of view Kawarthas are frog ponds compared to Lake O. Can always hide along calmer shoreline or island on a smaller lake. From the comfort angle, anything over 15-20 km/hr makes fishing/boating frustrating IMHO.
  23. What are you after!
  24. Unfortunately I have to work this weekend. But what's everybody's experience been so far with this springs walleye bite? I got a 22 incher trolling a Clown Husky Jerk and a 15 jigging a buck tail last weekend. That's it.
