  1. I really cant fathom paying somebody to do the most boring style of fishing in the world (rigging/deep water trolling). They'd have to pay me. lol
  2. I've fished the Niagara bar before for bass.. Can you go out there any time of year and get lakers? I thought it was a winter thing?
  3. I saw on the Burnt River a few years ago a guy's son threw one of his water wings into the middle of the river. Buddy quickly jumped in his paddle boat to go get it before it drifted away. Honestly, 15 ft at most from his dock. On the way back in, OPP boat happened to be cruising the river at that time. He actually got a ticket for not having his safety equipment. Like, I'm all about having your safety equipment but seriously, he was paddling out to grab a water wing for his son. It took him 2 minutes, spare the 20 talking to the power trip OPP. I was about 4 docks down, but I didn't see him acting belligerent or rude to the police in any way. They just wanted to hand out a ticket. I think the laws are pretty ridiculous in some instances.
  4. Drop the plastics. Rip a hardbait!
  5. I've fished for 23 years for all sorts of different species. One thing I have never come across either by accident or on purpose is a lake trout. Since I've really narrowed down my list of species to catch in a lifetime the last couple of years, I'd really like to round it off and go catch a laker this year. Problem is, I haven't got a clue what to do or where to go. I've heard you need riggers or dipsys to get them. I'm not willing to go that route. I'd like to be able to jig, cast or flatline to catch one. Is it possible, anywhere in southern Ontario to do that? Where to go, what to do? Any help in this quest would be much appreciated!
  6. We have bigger, better carp on the north shore of Lake Erie. Pretty good chances if the spot looks like a carp spot, they are there.
  7. It's one of those brown, "feeder goldfish" from Ruffins Dan, come out here anytime I'm sure we can muster you something much larger with ease. haha
  8. I've been in similar situations. I just keep fishing and tell them to call the police. Say nothing else, just keep fishing. Either the cops never come, or they come and ask you kindly to leave to avoid incident.
  9. I pounded 'er as hard as I could that day but just couldn't make it happen. Still one of the most well-memoried trips of the year though. Thanks to all involved!
  10. Whatever kinda beverage you prefer, keep your 50 cans in the boat.
  11. lol Yeah, I hear ya! I'm nothing without my morning cup o'java! Cola rots my guts within minutes though!
  12. lol the only other way I've had LMB is fried, it was alright. Would rather have a smallie. Is there better ways to cook largies?
  13. I drink beer everyday, and haven't been drunk in almost a year. I don't think that's any sort of alcohol problem. That's a craving for the flavour of a drink. I know you might just choke it down to get a buzz, but there are those of us who enjoy it. That being said, I haven't had a full can of cola in over a year. Can't stand the flavour. Guess I must be a caffeine junkie?
  14. lol
  15. Works good for largemouth bass too..
  16. I wouldn't do it with a great lakes fish.
  17. Try this buddy: http://www.aa.org Luckily most of us got over our addiction to alcohol and enjoy the taste of beer though.

    Flipping

I have one flippin' stick with 14lb test mono. Works just fine.
  19. Do you actually fish anymore? lol
  20. There's plenty of sheephead and suckers. If you're lucky, a carp. lol
  21. You risk some heavy trespassing charges there. Nobody comes to kick you out, except the cops. Too many people have partied and died down there.
  22. For sure, tubes, jerkbaits, even spinnerbaits! I like to bounce around a 3" twister tipped with a crawler.. you never know what you'll hook on that setup!
  23. 2 hours at the mouth of a nearby Lake Erie tributary produced some decent results the other evening. Myself, my girlfriend and a friend from work grabbed 2 dozen nightcrawlers after work a couple days ago and decided to pound some sheepies. Lots of bites, small fish and gobies but we all managed a decent one before the night was done. What a fight on 6lb test. If you don't like sheephead, you're nuts! And on another note, this random daytime raccoon showed up to snack on a dead carp then climb a tree to sleep. lol Good times! Summer rules.
  24. I can't believe how many largemouth the BC bayou is producing this season. Decent ones too. Awesome job!
  25. Caught decent bass & little pike all day in a variety of spots, deep and shallow. Shallow produced the biggest. Got 5th place in the Lakeshore Shopper derby with the fish on the left which weighed at 3.84lbs. These two were caught back to back on a black buzzbait. Don't let the rough water throw off your topwater bite! Gotta love bass season. An hour and a half of swimbaiting the other evening on a nearby pond produced this hefty fish too. Looking forward to stinging some more big jaws!
