  1. Thanks everyone kindly for your information. I believe my girlfriend likes the oak lake idea, so that will likely be where we go. Thanks again, much appreciated!
  2. Hmm. Well. It was an idea. Lol As for long point bay.. Thats pretty much been my home my whole life. Just looking for a change of scenery, relatively small water with some pike to catch. Or walleye, smallmouth.. Something interesting. Haha
  3. lol.. Teeterville like many of the ponds around here this year is almost dried up. Those pads are in 2" of water. We took the boat in there 2 weeks ago and I was very sad to see the even the carp barely had room to swim. I'm just looking for a place a little further from home to catch some bass and pike. Preferrably pike. I'm rather sick of LMB fishing.
  4. Looking for a place to stay midweek next week in the haliburtons. Would like to rent a cottage, preferrably on a smaller waterbody because all i'll have is my 12' inflatable with an electric motor. Any good suggestions?
  5. For a day trip, which lake would you choose?
  6. I cant go more than 3 days without fishing. Shutdown is not an option. I will fish chub minnows in open spots of the creek in my backyard if nothing else. But i gotta fish!
  7. I've never seen the "one bare foot in the air while balancing on the other and wearing a hollywood undead mask" pose before. Some true giant northern pike there for sure!
  8. I used to fish cootes as a kid. Never caught anything worthwhile , really.. An eel once in a while was about the main event. Big carp back then, far, far less carp there now since the carp traps were put in. I heard rumours of pike, but always caught them rather easily in the harbour.
  9. Excellent local meat hunter quotes: "Thats the rarest fish you can catch here, you better eat it!" "I'm not wasting my time fishing if I'm not bring home a limit" "I didn't spend 30 bucks on a license for a bunch of stupid pictures." "My limit stops when i stop catching fish" "It doesnt matter if it's perch, bass, musky, walleye.. There shouldn't be limits" "I dont care where you fish, if you're getting 5 gallon pails of perch, you stop when you run out of pails"
  10. If you dont believe in the rules and regulations for any reason, you're welcome to stop fishing in protest.
  11. And filling your freezer beyond your limit would be poaching, so correct they are after poachers.
  12. All i know is, i've never done well on numbers or size when i'm sitting at home
  13. How would they even catch someone for that?
  14. Indeed! If i plan to catch and keep fish, i plan to eat them that day. Sooooo much better fresh!
  15. Numbers at dawn, excitement at dusk, and big girls through the day!
  16. Haha! Excellent point!
  17. Thanks, glad the minorities also know their rights.
  18. Point of the post is, there are possession limits, not catch limits. Maybe this information was new to some people and they will stop stockpiling from now on, knowing its illegal. Thats better than arrests and enforcement, when people just know the law and abide by it? Maybe not use cheats and hoopla to get around it "just a little bit"... Maybe just... Abide by it? Whether or not the MNR is gonna kick in your door. Thats the point.
  19. I asked the local CO's the question about the compelling "grocery store bought" argument, they said you'd have to provide a receipt, were they to have some compelling evidence to investigate somebody about this.
  20. Time for some to re-read their legal rights.. Keeping a limit yes it's legal, but having more than that limit, even from previous trips, in your freezer , is breaking the law. Fun fact of the day. Everyone have fun on the water today if you should be so lucky. Ill be bass/pike hunting in less than a half hour!
  21. Ryan, i dont know why you dont keep in contact with me anymore, especially for questions like this. Your answer is simple: call rich, who buys maize and feed corn, soybeans and other chums in 5 gallon bulk pails.
  22. Simply awesome. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I believe i'd have the same opinion were i to ever visit that lake.
  23. Pretty well everyday of my life since i was 11.. Before that maybe 40 times a year.
  24. It must be cuz i live here, but i can think of a lot of other places id rather camp. Lol It IS an excellent beach, thats for sure.
