Probably my last Fishing Report for a while - full of fishin' pics
Rich replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
Great report, very entertaining read. Looks like a great time. On the subject of releasing fish, I believe the reason the fish are stunted is because there are too many of them. The more fish there are, the smaller they are, at least that's usually the way it is. -
I like Captain Blacks.. and Gold Rush cigarillos.. lol
-
Going to pick mine up this week. Great little item to have kicking around.

I think I was on the ice in Dunnville last year December 12th or something like that... a couple weeks later I was back in my boat. lol

Ah yes. Nothing beats bass fishing. You cast out 50-80lb braid, the fish hits almost instantly and you horse it in with barely a struggle. You do this 50 times during the day until you get bored of catching so many easy fish. Carp are superior in every way, heck they even survive better. But nah, kill em. They're ugly.

6'6 Medium action is all I use unless I'm after trophies (then I use my musky rod).

Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)
Rich replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
Agreed with Corey. There are many things within ch's rant that I could point out and call him a hypocrite for, but I'll leave it. Corey said it best. On a completely different note.. I wonder how many people drink a 24 a week, or more, yet still pi$$ on smokers for their addiction. Guess what, if you're drinking that much beer, it's not cuz you like it, it's cuz you're addicted! -
God I wish I could be on the river tomorrow.. Browns will be packed in there!
-
Nice pike! And in darkness too.. that's kinda rare for pike.

Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)

I never said it was good.. you just said it was no good for society, which is not entirely true. Just a debate, right? Like I said, I never smoke in a car with children, actually I don't smoke in a car with a non-smoker. Mostly just to keep them from preaching. What's with you and the purple haze anyway? I could go on for days about the benefits of wacky tabacky! LOL -

If you wanna get technical Moosebunk, smoking does benefit society in ways. It provides income for hard working people like tobacco farmers, puts money into local businesses, and promotes it's own version of socialization. I'm sure this post wasn't meant to turn into an anti or pro-smoking rally. Let's focus on the original topic. -
Haha thanks for the suggestions guys. Fate has it I'm all out of TNT and I don't do much drinking these days. Hooked, right you are. We were stuck with only a couple sizes of minnows and that very well may have been the problem. Guess I'll just write the day off as a "perch and bluegill trip" On a better note, Sugarpacket and I did pretty well on crappies yesterday, ice fishing from the boat, haha! Report to come.

Nice! I've been out 3 times since October and have not even seen a smallie, nevermind any decent ones. Guess if I get out one more time I'll try your tactic!

Water freezes? Haven't seen that phenomenon for a few years.

Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)

I don't smoke in the car with any kids in it anyway. I grew up sitting behind my dad as he smoked away driving. The second hand smoke didn't bother me so much as him constantly getting his ashes on me. I think the law is a good thing and I am a smoker. What I do hate is going for my breaks to the smoking area and people complaining. Gimme a break! -
Last time out in the boat Sleded and I encountered something we've never faced. There were big crappies packed into canals, probably after the minnows you could nearly walk across. Problem is, the crappies wouldn't hit anything. Normally when the minnows are in that thick we use a live minnow below a float and crawl it slowly through the school, and the crappies can't resist. These ones weren't going for that. Dead sticking didn't work either, so we switched up to small tubes and grubs with different retreives, under floats, vertical jigging, casting and reeling.. nothing would work. Bluegill and perch were going nuts but the crappies wouldn't touch anything. I even casted a small spinner and crankbait to see if they were just active. Nope. I've never encountered such finicky crappies ever! We were using flouro leads and all. Is there anything one can do in such a situation to get them to bite, or is it a lost cause?

Fish down here.. panfish & pike open year round, walleye has a longer season (I think it's closed for a month), lots of carp to keep you occupied as well. Bass is open 15 days longer too (til Nov 30th)
-
We hit up further yesterday and managed about 10 suckers thats about it. Nice to see a big steelhead caught at my favourite spot!

The thing I hate about artificial sweeteners of any kind is A) the horrible metallic/chemical aftertaste they always dry my mouth out and C) they give me a headache. Stick to honey if you can't have straight sugar.
-
I did throw down. Haha. I saw them downtown a few days later. I unleashed some Bunk justice. After upgrading to the protein simswiches of course.
-
Funny stuff Bunk. Good for you. I'm sure you've impressed the masses of "reel fishermen"
-
If I remember correct I only managed to get to the kawarthas once this season and it was about an average trip. 5 muskies in 3 days, lots of bass, lots of panfish and a few walleye. Wish I could have got up there more but it was a busy year outside of fishing for me. On the other hand, I had probably my best season in about 8 years on Long Point Bay.

I believe legally the angler would be at fault. After all, he is the one swinging the "weapon" in the air and should be looking behind him before he casts. Ethically, they are both at fault. Nothing I hated more on Port Dover pier than having to make 30 shoulder checks to make sure no stupid tourist was standing over my shoulder every time I casted.

Wow great advice Bunk. Just beat up whoever annoys you. That would make the fishing community look even better wouldn't it. Jesus christ.
